Arthur Lewis's face burned with embarrassment, and he couldn't utter a word.
In truth, he had acted in anger that day, and he'd been feeling some remorse ever since—though his pride prevented him from admitting it.
Cassie Brooks looked at him, her eyes darting about before she let out a sigh.
""Fine, I won't be heartless. In the end, isn't it just about the withdrawal of Wit Group's funding? If you just cover that shortfall, won't everything be okay? Arthur Lewis was taken aback. ""The Brooks family has that much money?""

After speaking her piece, Cassie Brooks walked out, leaving Arthur Lewis standing there in deep thought, a slight smirk on her lips.
She wasn't lying, but whether the Brooks family was willing to bail him out was another matter.
Arthur Lewis quickly drove to the Brooks residence, only to find the place empty. The housekeeper informed him that the Brooks family had gone abroad for a trip the day before.
They had left for a vacation when he needed them the most.
Clutching his fists, Arthur Lewis took a deep breath and called Olivia Brooks, but got no answer.

""Why didn't you tell me you were going abroad?""

The woman who professed her love for him wouldn't even make an effort to plead on his behalf.
His phone rang incessantly—the Lewis Group prompting him to rush to the shareholder meeting.

""You were the one who guaranteed this plan would work. Do you realize how much money the company has invested in this?""
