Chapter 1529 Things Have Already Reached the Point of No Return

Back in the day, they used to live in that cramped little apartment in Austin.

When they were younger, Elliott would often mess around with his classmates, getting so wasted he wouldn’t stumble home until midnight. No matter how trashed he was, Julia was always there to help him back.

Thanks to Julia, Elliott felt like he had a home, even in a place that wasn’t his own.

Everything felt so real back then, and the pain had been unbearable all these years.

He hated Julia so much.

When they got to the suite's door, Elliott suddenly shoved Julia against the wall and kissed her like a madman.

Julia's head smacked against the wall, and the pain almost made her pass out. But before she could even catch her breath, a sharp pain shot through her lips, and blood mixed in both their mouths.

It hurt like hell, but it made her feel alive again.

Over the years, she had schemed and plotted, but never felt satisfied.

Now, she could finally control her own future. She just wanted to live for herself.

She reached out and unbuttoned his suit. They clumsily tumbled onto the bed.

The next day, when Elliott woke up, his head was pounding.

He sat up, and the sheet slid down to his waist. Next to him, a delicate body was half-exposed, covered in hickeys. Julia shivered from the cold, and her usually indifferent eyes were now filled with allure.

Their eyes met briefly, and they both instantly sobered up.

Elliott's stern face was extremely stiff, but the events of last night played in his mind like a movie.

He wished he could punch himself, and his eyes grew colder. "I get it now. Last night, you and Derek conspired to get me drunk so you could sleep with me, right?"

Julia's face turned at his words.

Elliott sneered, "Julia, are you that desperate? Are you that shameless? I forgot, you married a sick man for power and status. Your husband died early, and no one satisfies your needs, right?"

"Elliott, shut up." Julia's beautiful eyes trembled with anger. If it weren't Elliott, she would have killed him a thousand times over. But it was clearly not to be that, she couldn't bear to hurt him.

"Am I wrong?" Elliott lost his usual calm. Only when facing her did he become like a porcupine, full of spikes, wanting to pierce her a thousand times over. "Don't you know what happens when a woman takes a drunk man to his room?"

"Elliott, do we really have to go this far?" Julia's heart ached.

Elliott laughed, "Do you think I want to be like this? Julia, you should know it better than anyone. You are too ruthless. Before you went back here, you promised me that after talking to your family, you would let me propose to you. I'd been waiting for you all the time until I got your breakup. You married another man. Fine. But why did you switch Laura's medication? Even after Laura got pregnant, you threatened her not to have an abortion and to marry Michael with the Miller family's situation. How the Jude family hurt and betrayed Laura, who has been cherished by our family, was all your doing."

Elliott kept going, "If you had any conscience left, or felt any guilt towards me, you wouldn't have hurt Laura like that. You can't undo what's been done."

Julia's hands clenched tightly under the blanket, filled with bitterness and pain. "Elliott, switching Laura's medication was the biggest mistake of my life. I did it out of selfishness, thinking that if the Miller family and the Jude family were connected, I could see you."

"So that's how it is." Elliott laughed like he just heard the most ridiculous lie ever, even laughing until his eyes turned red. "So it's my fault Laura got hurt. If I could do it all over again, I wish I had never met you abroad. Knowing you was the Miller family's misfortune."

He finished dressing and slammed the door on his way out.

Behind him, Julia held her head high, but tears streamed down her face.

In her world, even crying couldn't make her bow her head.

Elliott stumbled out of the suite, and only after getting into the car did he bury his head in his knees in pain.

His phone rang; it was Laura calling. "Elliott, are you awake?"

Hearing Laura's voice filled Elliott with guilt.

As Laura's brother, he hadn't fulfilled his responsibilities regarding Laura and Benjamin, and later with Michael, he was of no help.

No matter how successful Elliott was in his career, he had failed as Laura's brother.

"I'm not disturbing you, am I?" Laura suddenly giggled mischievously.

Elliott said, "Last night, you and Derek did it on purpose, didn't you?"

"You've got me wrong. Derek drank too much last night and threw up on his clothes, so I couldn't take him back." Laura would never admit it. "I was thinking about you and Julia..."

"Laura, stop trying to set us up. There's no chance for us," Elliott interrupted her.

"Alright, don't lie to me. Last time at the Jude Estate, I saw you and Julia arguing. She was your first love, right?" Laura said lazily. "After going back here, you threw yourself into work and never mentioned the news about your love. At first, I thought you hadn't met the right person, but later I realized you already had someone in your heart."

"You're overthinking it. Julia and I are over. Besides, I'll never forgive her for what she did to you. Don't you hate her?" Elliott asked.

"I don't hate Julia. Thanks to Derek and her, I was able to get a divorce smoothly."

"She didn't do it for you. She did it to seize the inheritance from Michael. She's very scheming and values benefits above all else," Elliott emphasized.

Laura retorted, "You haven't interacted much with the Jude family, so you might not understand them. I believe that if Julia hadn't threatened me, someone else would have, and they might have been even more excessive."

Laura sighed lightly, "Take James and Caroline, for example. They always treated me well on the surface because Julia did all the dirty work, and they just had to play the good guys. But in reality, some things Julia did were under their orders."
