Chapter 751
In Seaside Haven.
Megan received a phone call.
"That person is dead."
Megan's eyes lit up. "Good job, guys. Is the body disposed?"
"We buried it in the mountains. That place is remote. No one passes by."
"Thank you."
The person on the other end chuckled, "You don't need to thank me so quickly. Next time, I'll need your help, too."
"Okay." Megan gritted her teeth. She knew that once she agreed, there was no turning back. However, now that Rex, this major trouble had been handled. She got a peace of mind.
Not long after, she heard the sound of a car.
Megan hurried downstairs, "Joseph, you're back just in time. Today, the wedding company sent me the layout plan. Do you like the venue?"
She handed him the phone. Joseph glanced at it casually. "As long as you like it. I'm going to take a shower."
Megan watched his back, suddenly feeling wronged, stomping her foot. "Joseph, be honest. Do you want to marry me? You don’t care about the wedding at all. We're getting married next week, do you remember?"
Joseph turned around, meeting Megan's sorrowful eyes, feeling uneasy.
He always thought that he’d be happy marrying Megan. But recently, it felt like a heavy burden.
Couldn't bear it, Megan burst into tears, "I am sorry for what happened to Sophia. It was my fault, but I've learned from it. You don't want me to get pregnant. I haven't taken any birth control shots. What else do you want from me? Don’t you love me anymore? You're out early and back late every day. You weren't like this before Cassie came back..."
"That's enough," Joseph interrupted her.
"Let me finish," Megan couldn’t help shouting at Joseph on the verge of collapse, "I know I can't satisfy you. You find me disgusting, but Joseph, it was you who insisted on being with me. I don't want to ruin your marriage; I've been with you for three years, and the whole world knows we're getting married. If you don't want me, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to die? Have you forgotten when we met in the mental hospital as kids? You said you would protect me all the time after we leave? My love for you has never changed, but yours has."
Memories from the past in the mental hospital flooded back.
Hearing Megan's cries, Joseph felt guilt.
No matter what had Megan become, Lucas was right. There was no turning back.
Megan had accompanied Joseph through the long years, and Joseph couldn't let her down anymore.
"Sorry, I've been too busy lately. I'll check the wedding venue with you tomorrow," Joseph spoke softly.
He shouldn't think about Cassie anymore. It was time to move on.
The wedding was approaching.
One afternoon, a meeting ended.
Joseph was about to get up and leave when he suddenly saw a female director walk up to Mabel and say with a smile, "Where are you going? Do you want to go for a beauty treatment later?"
"No, Liam is on a business trip today. I have to pick up my granddaughter," Mabel said with a smile.
"Oh, you're a grandmother. I can't tell. I thought you were a young girl." The female director and Mabel joked around.
Joseph walked over and said, "Go ahead. I'll go pick up Sophia. I have a dress for her. She needs to be a flower girl for me the day after tomorrow."
