Chapter 1237 Sowing Discord

No way! He couldn't let Declan and Cassie get too chummy, or his whole plan would go up in smoke.

But hey, these photos? They could come in handy.

Lost in his thoughts, he suddenly heard footsteps behind him.

He bolted out the other way.

Carl strolled over and said, "Mr. Wittelsbach, sorry to keep you waiting."

"No worries. Just finished this chess puzzle," Declan said, nodding at the chessboard.

Carl glanced at it, eyes wide. "Wow, didn't know you were a chess whiz."

Declan shrugged, not mentioning he had some help. "Actually, I'm here about the Morris family. Mr. Jude got what he wanted, and the Morris family isn't a threat anymore. Do me a solid."

"Alright, since it's you asking, I gotta agree. But this whole thing's blown up. If I don't punish a few people, the public won't be satisfied," Carl said, looking a bit helpless.

Declan frowned, then said, "Fine, just grab a couple of folks from the Morris family's side branches. They ticked off Joseph and the Jude family because of me."

He gave Carl a knowing look. "The Jude family and Joseph are pretty tight."

Carl felt stuck. Declan's status was too high to mess with. If things went south, Madison's international standing could tank. "Declan, I don't get your beef with Joseph, but he's not just anyone. He's got dirt on the Morris family and maybe on me too. If Madison keeps changing presidents, the country will be a mess. Don't let a personal grudge screw up everything."

Declan smirked. "Mr. Jude, you're quite the talker. Alright, I won't push this time, but no promises for next."

He stood up. "Oh, and keep my identity under wraps."

After he left, Carl let out a big sigh of relief.

9 PM.

In the villa, Olivia made a cup of milk and knocked on the main bedroom door.

"Come in." Hearing Isabella's voice, Olivia walked in. "Mom, you didn't eat much at dinner, so I made you some milk."

"Okay." Isabella had just finished her bath, dried her hair, and was massaging her temples.

"Mom, you feeling okay? Let me help with that." Olivia put the milk down and started massaging her temples.

"Maybe it's the change in environment. Whisperlyn City's climate is kinda dry. Ever since I got here, I haven't felt like eating," Isabella said, taking a sip of milk. She'd been feeling super irritable lately.

"The climate here isn't as nice as Neya City." Olivia's eyes flashed with worry as she watched Isabella drink the milk.

She knew why Isabella was like this. Isabella had been taking the medicine Olivia put in her milk every night. Gradually, Isabella would get more and more irritable. But Olivia worried that if this kept up, Declan and Everett would get suspicious.

But if she cut back on the dosage, Isabella might quickly regain her memory.

"Mom, maybe you should head back to Neya City early," Olivia said, sounding concerned.

"I can't think about that until your grandma's revenge is taken." Just as Isabella finished speaking, Olivia's phone buzzed.

She pulled it out and saw two photos from David. It was Declan and Cassie. When did Declan start hanging with Cassie, and why did they look so tight?

She instantly got what David was up to.

"What's up?" Isabella asked, noticing Olivia had frozen.

"Mom, a friend of mine was at a party tonight and saw Cassie. But why's she with Declan?" Olivia played dumb and showed her the pics.

Isabella was floored.

Declan was always so cold, but in these pics, he was all buddy-buddy with Cassie. She didn't know what Cassie had said, but he was even grinning.

After being married for decades, Isabella could tell if his smile was real or fake.

Over the years, many young women had tried to get close to Declan, but she knew how he felt about her. However, Cassie in the photos looked a lot like her, no, more like her younger self.

Even though she had kept her looks, what women feared most was their husbands meeting a younger girl who looked like them.

This would make it easy for him to find a younger version of his wife.

Isabella's beautiful face briefly showed a hint of stiffness.

At that moment, an unprecedented sense of fear and irritation surged up, but she tried her best to control it.

Olivia glanced at Isabella's expression and said, "I need to send a message to my friend. It's fine if he takes photos of Cassie, but if Declan finds out, it will be a mess."

She pretended to reply to the message in front of Isabella seriously. After sending it, she playfully said, "Mom, please don't tell Declan about this. I'm afraid he'll cause trouble for my friend. But you should remind Declan that Cassie is very cunning. I'm worried that if Declan sees she looks a bit like you, he might go soft on her."

"Olivia." Isabella suddenly stood up. "I won't say anything about this. You should go back to your room and rest."

"Goodnight then." Olivia left with the milk cup.

After the door closed, Isabella picked up her phone, intending to call Declan. But when she found his number, a wave of inexplicable anger surged through her, and she threw the phone to the ground.

It wasn't until 10:30 PM that Declan tiptoed back into the bedroom.

Isabella suddenly sat up in bed.

Declan was startled and quickly went over to hug her. "Honey, did I wake you?"

Isabella only felt that she smelled a woman's scent on him. She pushed him away forcefully. "Get away from me. The smell of another woman on you makes me sick."

Declan was baffled but still lowered his head to sniff himself. "No, this is just my own scent."

"Stop lying. I can smell it," Isabella said coldly.

Declan felt both wronged and aggrieved. He took off his suit and threw it in front of her. "Smell it yourself. Where's the woman's scent? Maybe your nose is the problem."

Isabella's mind flashed back to the image in the photo. She couldn't control herself and swept the suit to the floor. "Where did you go today?"

"The Jude family sent me an invitation. I went to talk to Carl about letting the Morris family off."

"Really?" Isabella sneered, more convinced he was lying. Clearly, he was chatting and laughing with Cassie. "Did you talk about dealing with Joseph and Cassie?"
