Chapter 52 She Actually Dared to Bite Him

Cassie rushed over and hugged his neck.

Her sudden move startled Joseph.

Would Cassie take this chance to kiss him? The thought of her soft lips flashed in his mind. Just as he hesitated for a moment, a sharp pain shot through his cheek.

She actually dared to bite him!

Joseph forcefully pushed her away. "Cassie, do you think I won't do anything to you?"

His eyes burned with anger. Cassie calmed down and shivered, realizing she had crossed a line.

"It's because I love you so much," she said, pretending to cry. "I love you so deeply that I wanted to make sure you remember me differently."

Joseph stepped closer, gritting his teeth. "Do you think I'm stupid?"

"Then you bite me, too." Cassie shamelessly pushed her face forward. "Bite as hard as you love me. The deeper the love, the harder the bite."

Joseph thought to himself, 'Does she really think reverse psychology will work on me?'

He grabbed her head and bit down hard on her cheek.

Cassie's cheeks were pink and soft like jelly, making it hard for him to let go.

Cassie screamed in pain.

After biting, he saw two deep rows of teeth marks on her face. Only then did he let her go, feeling satisfied. "Remember this next time: You should pay the price for your actions."

Cassie endured the pain and showed a shy face. "No, this is proof that you love me."

Joseph sneered and slammed the door as he went into the bathroom.

In the mirror, the two obvious rows of teeth marks on his handsome face made him want to tear her to pieces.

Usually, he could wear a mask, but he had to go to court today.

No lawyer went to court wearing a mask!

Feeling annoyed, he had a quick breakfast and left.

Cassie looked at the still plentiful breakfast and sighed inwardly. 'Oh no, I made Joseph angry again, but why is he so mad? The teeth marks on my face are deeper than his, aren't they?'

Silverwood Courthouse.

9 AM.

When the elevator doors opened, Joseph stepped out wearing a mask, with Nathaniel closely following behind.

The client, Alfie Berry, hurriedly walked up. "Mr. Hernandez, today is the final trial. Things are looking bad for me. Am I going to lose?"

"Stop talking nonsense." Joseph's tone was cold and impatient. "Stop asking the same question. If you don't trust me, get another lawyer."

Alfie was left speechless by his cold demeanor, but Joseph was the best lawyer in all of Madison.

"Come on, trust Mr. Hernandez. If he can't win your case, no one can," Noah said, holding a cup of coffee to comfort Alfie.

"What are you doing here?" Joseph asked indifferently.

"I have a case today, too," Noah complained, "Why are you wearing a mask? Have you got a cold?"

Joseph fell silent.

"It's rare to see you wearing a mask to avoid spreading germs. Joseph, since coming to Silverwood, you've become more humane," Noah praised.

Ten minutes later, as the trial was about to start, Joseph took off his mask, revealing the two rows of teeth marks.

Noah almost spat out his coffee, asking, "What happened to you?"

"Got bitten by my cat," Joseph said darkly before striding into the courtroom.

Noah almost burst out laughing, thinking, 'Does Joseph think I'm blind? It's obvious Cassie bit him. Well, it's rare to see him in such an embarrassing situation. I must secretly snap a photo later.'

Cassie stayed home for a few days to rest. Once the teeth marks faded, she went out to look for a job again.

However, the news she received was far from good.

"Ms. Brooks, sorry, we don't hire plagiarizing designers."

"Ms. Brooks, your scandal has spread throughout the design community. No one dares to hire you."

"Ms. Brooks, the Brooks family has secretly notified the industry. Anyone who hires you is going against the Brooks family."

That day, after another failed interview, Cassie walked out of the building feeling both confused and angry. She had worked so hard to learn her profession, and now she couldn't even find a job. What should she do now? Should she change careers?

A car honked several times beside her, but she didn't react until Billy Shaw called out, "Cassie, long time no see."

She turned around in a daze to see a handsome and elegant face peeking out from a nearby car.

"Billy, what are you doing here?" Cassie was both surprised and delighted to see her former schoolmate from abroad.
