Chapter 1197 Daddy, Did You Offend Mommy Again?

"I know," Lucas said, twirling his pen.

He got everything Joseph was saying. After Bernice's rejections and even considering Nina, Lucas thought he should steer clear of Bernice.

But he couldn't control himself. He couldn't even figure out why he went to Bernice's place this morning.

When he saw Bernice beating up Hunter, he didn't think she was two-faced; he actually admired her.

He didn't like women who cried and acted weak. When Bernice stabbed the knife into her back, it felt like it stabbed him too.

Even though he thought Bernice was scheming, he hated scheming women—except for her.

He first kissed her because of her eyes, then got drawn to her personality.

"Have you fallen for her?" Joseph asked, noticing Lucas's silence.

"Fallen for her?" Lucas was startled, dropping his pen. He smiled. "No way!"

He was momentarily lost in thought, remembering when he first started dating Nina.

"Joseph, I don't know," Lucas said quietly. "I just feel like I need Bernice."

"You've never felt like you needed a woman before. You never force anyone," Joseph said, patting his shoulder. "Lucas, you don't really like Sarah. You don't have to marry her. If you want to get married, at least find someone you don't find annoying. If you want Bernice, cancel the engagement first. Otherwise, you'll ruin her."

"Do you think my parents will let me cancel the wedding with Sarah? The invitations are already out," Lucas said flatly.

"Then stay away from Bernice. You know you're not right for each other, so why bother? I've said all I need to say. I have to go now," Joseph said, opening the car door.

Lucas suddenly asked, "When you were with Cassie, did you ever think you weren't suitable? You still went for it."

Joseph was stunned. "My memory's a bit fuzzy, but I'm different from you. I knew I loved her. It's different from just wanting to possess her."

"How is it different?"

"I want to be with Cassie forever, but you just mess around with Bernice," Joseph said and left.

Back at the Hernandez House, Cassie greeted him first. "You went to see Lucas. How did it go?"

"I said everything I needed to say," Joseph said, frowning. "But I feel like Lucas is different this time."

"How is he different?" Cassie asked, puzzled.

"He might really be into Bernice," Joseph said. "Besides Nina, I've never seen him want a woman like this."

"Don't mention Nina to me," Cassie said angrily. "Didn't he just want to play with Nina back then?"

"Not really," Joseph muttered. "When he was dating Nina, he was patient. He's not usually patient with women, but he was with Nina. They suddenly broke up. Besides thinking Nina was always bullying Megan, there might have been other reasons."

"Nina didn't bully Megan. Megan always played the victim, making it look like others were bullying her," Cassie said, frustrated.

"We didn't get it back then," Joseph said quickly, holding her hand. "Let's not dwell on the past, Cassie. I'm hungry."

"If you're hungry, go find something in the kitchen. I'm not your chef," Cassie said, shaking off his hand. "Speaking of Megan, I haven't seen her in a while. I don't think it's over. I'll deal with her slowly."

She walked away, ignoring Joseph.

Sophia and Oliver walked over, looking amused. "Daddy, did you upset Mommy again?"

Joseph sighed deeply.

Silverwood.

A plane from abroad landed at Silverwood Airport.

Everett had been waiting outside for over ten minutes before he saw Declan walking out with his arm around Isabella. They'd been married for decades but still acted like young lovers, especially Declan, who couldn't stand being apart from Isabella.

Olivia walked behind them, looking like a princess, followed by several bodyguards carrying luggage.

"Dad, Mom, Olivia," Everett greeted them.

"Everett," Olivia smiled sweetly. "Why did you come back to Madison first without waiting for us? If I didn't want to spend more time with Mom, I would've come back sooner."

"I came back early to get Robert and Helen out of jail," Everett said, smiling at Isabella. "Mom, let me take you to see Robert and Helen. They wanted to pick you up, but I told them to wait at the villa."

"Okay," Isabella nodded, feeling a bit excited.

She had lost her memory for over ten years, and this was her homeland.

As the car drove into the city, Isabella looked out the window while Olivia occasionally pointed out places in Silverwood.

After a while, Isabella suddenly said, "These places look familiar."

Declan put his arm around her. "Do you remember something?"

"I think I have some impressions, especially the school we just passed. Did I study there before?" Isabella asked.

Olivia's heart skipped a beat. "I don't know, Mom. You left too early, and Grandma never told me."

Isabella felt a bit regretful. "I want to walk around Silverwood more in the next few days and visit the places where I used to study and live. It might help me recover my memory."

"Are memories that important? Didn't you already find Olivia?" Declan said, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Isabella looked at him angrily. "What are you talking about? Of course, it's important. I've lost over twenty years of memories. Half of my life is blank. Who can stand that?"

Everett laughed. "Mom, Dad is just worried you'll remember your past relationship and get jealous."

"Shut up," Declan said, glaring at Everett as if he'd hit a nerve.

"We've been together for so long. Do you think I still care about that past relationship? Don't you know me by now?" Isabella said, exasperated, linking her arm with Declan's. "I've been very clear about how good you've been to me."
