Chapter 936 A Month Later, I'll Let You Go
The butler who came in with the medical kit turned pale. "Mr. Hernandez, the injury is too severe. We must get a professional doctor."
"No need, just give me the gauze. A simple bandage will do," Joseph said coldly.
After bandaging, he went downstairs, but Cassie was nowhere to be seen. He asked the servants and learned that she had gone to the study.
He walked to the study and found her fiddling with the computer. Upon hearing his footsteps, she immediately glared at him warily.
"You don't need to turn it on. I've had the internet cables here disconnected." Joseph calmly walked up to her. "And don't bother borrowing a phone from the servants. They aren't from Madison, and even if they were, their phones can only call people from their own country."
"What kind of hellish place is this?" Cassie said in despair. "Joseph, if you have the guts, keep me locked up forever. But kidnapping me in broad daylight is a crime. My dad can totally call the police and have you arrested."
"I've already contacted your dad. I told him that if he cares about your safety, he better not call the police." Joseph affectionately caressed her cheek, making it seem as if they were a loving couple. "After all, I have a mental illness. If I were pushed, I could do something crazy."
He had used the gentlest tone to threaten her father, causing Cassie to shudder and slap his hand away.
Joseph continued with a smile, "Of course, it's not a solution if he never sees you. If pushed, your dad might do something drastic, too. So I told him... I'd let you go in a month to reassure him. I just want to spend some time alone with you to give you a chance to fall in love with me again."
"I will never fall in love with someone who kidnapped me. You're dreaming," Cassie shouted at him in fury. "Once I leave here, I'll cut all ties with you."
"Are you sure you can cut all ties?" Joseph said with a meaningful smile.
Cassie was initially puzzled, but her mind quickly caught up, and she trembled violently.
Why did he want to keep her for a month? If they were together constantly, she might get pregnant.
"Joseph, you're despicable. Even if I die, I won't have your child," she screamed hysterically at him.
"Cassie, you were pregnant with my child before, which means we're both healthy. If I stay with you every night for a month, the chances of you getting pregnant are quite high," he said.
The more Joseph spoke, the more his blood began to boil. He and her had a child, one he had lost before, but not this time.
"Sophia is very cute, isn't she? You see, we can definitely have a child as adorable as Sophia," he then continued.
"I don't care about you." Cassie was on the verge of losing her mind. "Stop dreaming. Even if I get pregnant with your child, I'll abort it."
"If you insist on aborting it, then I'll have to keep you here until the child is born." Joseph looked at her calmly, "You have to believe. I have the power to make that happen. The Hernandez group is about to develop the world's most advanced chip, which will reshuffle the global market. The Hernandez family will not only stand at the pinnacle of Madison but will also become one of the top five global enterprises. In this world, no one can threaten my position."
Cassie was horrified. She had never imagined that the Hernandez family had developed to such an extent. If what Joseph said was true, then even the President couldn't do anything to him.
"As long as you give birth to the child, whether it's a daughter or a son, everything I have will be theirs." Joseph gently cupped her face. "Cassie, I used to only think about developing my career, and making the Hernandez family reach greater heights. But ever since I fell in love with you, I realized that earning so much money is meaningless. I just want to be with you. Let's spend this time here together."
His kiss lightly touched her lips.
Cassie was bewildered. She had underestimated Joseph. She regretted it; she should never have provoked Joseph when she came back.
At that time, she was solely focused on getting revenge on Megan and had overlooked Joseph's level of madness.
"This island is beautiful. Let me take you for a walk," Joseph said, holding her stiff body as they headed out.
Just as they were about to reach the door, the butler came over with a pill and a glass of water.
"Take it." Joseph handed her the pill.
"What is this?" Cassie trembled inside, afraid to take it.
"Birth control," Joseph explained with a deep gaze. "Although I was with you last night, you were in Madison the night before. Maybe you did it with David, so this is a precaution, just in case, I can't let you have David's child."
Cassie was speechless. She and David had never done anything, but at least this birth control pill could prevent any possibility from last night.
Without hesitation, she took the pill.
After taking it, she fell into deep thought. These days were her most fertile days; she had to find a way to avoid his advances.
That night, after taking a bath, she used a sharp object to cut the back of her leg and smeared the blood on her underwear.
After doing all this, she went out and said to Joseph, "Do you have any sanitary pads? I got my period."
"What a coincidence?" Joseph raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing her. "You're just making excuses to avoid getting pregnant."
"I'm not lying. You can check for yourself if you don't believe me."
As soon as Cassie finished speaking, he pushed her onto the bed.
Joseph checked and found that she was indeed bleeding. His brows furrowed darkly but soon relaxed. Since he planned to keep her for a month, her period was inevitable, whether it came early or late.
"I'll have someone get you sanitary pads," he then said.
He quickly had a servant bring over some sanitary pads.
After Cassie put one on, he pulled her onto the bed and held her in his arms all night.
The next day, he woke her with a kiss, as he did every day.
But Cassie remained very cautious, squeezing out blood every day to smear on the sanitary pad, fearing that the servant who cleaned the trash would notice something unusual.
After seven days had passed, Joseph brought over a bikini. "Cassie, your period is over. Today, I'll take you swimming at the beach."
Cassie looked at the pink bikini. It was beautiful but also very revealing. If she wore it, Joseph would definitely see the cut on the back of her leg. She had a gut feeling that he would touch her tonight, so she had to cover up the wound quickly, or he would get suspicious.
"Nah. I don't like swimming," she answered and then turned her face away. "If you want to go, go by yourself."
"If you don't swim, what's the point of me swimming alone?" Joseph pulled her over and held her on his lap.
Cassie let him do as he pleased. After all, no matter how much she resisted these days, she couldn't overpower him. Gradually, she stopped wasting her energy.
"Fine, then I'll just take a walk on the beach with you," he coaxed gently.
Cassie quickly thought of a plan and nodded after a moment. "Okay, but I want to go upstairs and change into a long dress."
