Chapter 72

""You're overthinking it.""

Cassie told her the situation, and Laura felt guilty. ""I'm sorry, Cassie. Perhaps I was too naive.""

""He doesn't like me, and I shouldn't have forced it. Besides, I married him for selfish reasons. Laura, I think I shouldn't have married him in the first place.""

Cassie was feeling lost now.

Laura sighed, ""We've already come this far. What else can we do? Do you want to give up and get a divorce?""

Cassie remained silent.

Yes, maybe getting a divorce is the right thing to do.

After hanging up the phone, she got up and noticed that the door to the master bedroom was open, which meant that Joseph had already left.

She let out a sigh of relief. After what happened, he seemed like a completely different person, which made her feel suffocated.

After finishing a bowl of noodles, Billy called. ""Cassie, are the renderings of Mr. Foster's villa ready?""

""It's done.""

""Alright, then take the drawings to Wit Group and find him. He's been urging us about it.""

""Okay."" She didn't dare to delay and quickly changed her clothes to go to the Wit Group.

The company stood tall in the newly developed area of Madison, surrounded by towering skyscrapers.

Cassie explained her purpose to the receptionist at the front desk, who told her to go directly upstairs.

While waiting for the elevator, a person came out of the elevator next to her. From the back, it looked like Arthur's mother, Kathleen.

Kathleen didn't see her and walked toward the main entrance with her bag in hand.

At that moment, the elevator arrived.

Cassie snapped out of her thoughts, walked into the elevator, and couldn't help but feel a bit strange.

She had bumped into Arthur in Garden Heights last time, and now she encountered Kathleen. It was too much of a coincidence.

Wait, David's last name is also Foster. Could he be related to Kathleen?

But she hadn't heard Arthur mention any powerful relatives named David before.

Suddenly, she felt a headache, and her mind couldn't keep up.

Just as the elevator reached the floor, she walked into the CEO's office.

David happened to be meeting with someone, so she waited for a while before submitting the drawings and renderings after the guest left.

""To be honest, I just called Billy to ask. I didn't actually urge him. I didn't expect you to really finish it. You're quite efficient,"" David said as he took the drawings and glanced at her, his brows furrowing. ""Miss Brooks, you don't look good. Have you been staying up late?""

Cassie was taken aback. She had been physically and mentally exhausted these past couple of days, and indeed, she looked worn out.

She had put on some makeup before leaving to hide it, but David had noticed it anyway.

""No, it's just been a bit of insomnia lately,"" Cassie replied.

David guessed that her insomnia might be caused by Arthur and Olivia getting engaged. He couldn't help but feel a trace of pity.

But he quickly remembered something - he had forgotten to take the invitation card his sister sent him.

But it was too late now. Cassie looked at the invitation card, with ""Arthur Olivia, Engagement Banquet"" written on the cover.

Her pupils contracted, and she smiled faintly. ""Does Mr. Foster know the relatives of both families?""

David put away the invitation card and coughed lightly. ""Distant relatives, that's all.""

He was worried that if Cassie found out he was Arthur's uncle, there might be conflicts."
