Chapter 1534 Derek's Jealousy
Since Derek wanted to make Laura jealous, Cassie figured it was only fair to give him a taste of his own medicine.
"Hey, isn't that makeup artist Callum Bryant? Let's go chat him up," Cassie said, giving Bernice a little nudge and a wink.
Bernice caught on quick and teased Laura, "Cassie and I are gonna go say hi over there. You and Levi can hang out here and maybe pitch our brand to the fans."
"I'll give it a shot," Laura said, a bit surprised but smiling playfully.
Once they were out of the others' earshot, Bernice asked, "You're not trying to set up Levi and Laura, are you? I mean, Levi's hot, but guys in showbiz are usually trouble."
"Nah, just some harmless fun. Maybe it'll cheer Laura up," Cassie laughed, pulling out her phone to message Magnus on Facebook: [Make sure Laura and Levi sit together later, and get the live stream camera on them more.]
The private room was smoky, and Derek was stuck listening to a tipsy deputy minister ramble on about the good old days.
Feeling suffocated, Derek took a sip of his tea and started scrolling through Facebook.
He'd added Cassie on Facebook when she was looking after Laura in the hospital.
Usually, he didn't pay much attention to Cassie's posts.
But twenty minutes ago, Cassie had posted six photos, one of which showed Laura and some young guy sitting close together. Laura, in a light pink dress, looked absolutely stunning with a bright smile.
Derek's eyes narrowed.
Laura was grinning ear to ear in a photo with Levi. He knew Levi.
Derek hadn't met Levi in person but had seen him a few times. When he visited Laura, who was recovering at home, she had been watching Levi's TV shows.
Once, Derek had watched with her for a bit and thought the plot was ridiculous, but Laura said she didn't care about the plot; she watched it because she liked Levi.
Every woman had the right to be a fan, but when it crossed into real life, it became a problem.
Derek suddenly stood up, "I just remembered I have something urgent tonight. I'll leave first and treat everyone to dinner another day."
Without waiting for a response, Derek grabbed his coat and left in a hurry.
Downstairs, he realized he'd been drinking and couldn't drive, so he hailed a taxi to the party.
On the way, he called Laura several times, but she didn't pick up.
He had to open the DreamDazzle Beauty Co. official live stream. Tonight, with so many top celebrities attending, there were millions of viewers.
The DreamDazzle Beauty Co. event had just kicked off, and they had two famous TV hosts running the show.
When he tuned in, a popular female singer was performing. The camera occasionally panned to the audience, and he quickly spotted Laura sitting in the front row with Bernice and Cassie. But on Laura's other side was Levi. While others watched the show, Laura and Levi were whispering to each other.
Among the live stream comments, Derek found that many of Levi's fans noticed it too.

Derek was fuming, "Sir, can you go faster? Why aren't we there yet?"
"There's a traffic jam ahead," the driver said helplessly, "It seems some company is holding an event at the hotel you mentioned. Many celebrities are there, and lots of young girls are flocking there. I've made several trips there today."
Then he added, "Look, there's another traffic jam ahead."
Derek checked the map and saw they were close, "Just pull over here."
After paying, he hurriedly ran towards the hotel.
The security outside the hotel was tight, but it wasn't hard for Derek to get in.
A phone call later, the hotel manager personally escorted him to the banquet hall.
The performance on stage was almost over, and a group of celebrities and fashion industry staff were chatting and toasting.
Laura was sitting with Levi, and as people started chatting, she naturally talked with Levi too.
Derek's voice suddenly came from behind. "Laura."
Laura heard a familiar voice and turned around to see Derek striding towards her.
Derek's brown flight jacket clashed with the elegant style of the banquet hall, drawing quite a few curious glances.
Laura was confused until Derek reached her side and flashed a warm, indulgent smile, "Sorry, I'm late for tonight's event."
Laura was confused, "What?"
