Chapter 47 I will take my revenge eventually

As he got closer, he could smell the odor coming from her, but that was the least of his concerns now.

He rushed over and shook her hard, but there was no response. Her body was as cold as ice, with no reaction at all.

If he hadn't felt a faint breath from her nose, he would have thought she was dead.

He picked her up and rushed towards the front door. Kaitlyn, hiding by the door, was terrified by what she saw and quickly ran out the back door.

Joseph didn't have time to catch her. If he didn't get Cassie to a hospital quickly, she would surely die.

On the way, Cassie remained motionless in his arms.

Joseph looked down at her small face. Her once slightly chubby cheeks were now gaunt, and her lips were dry and cracked.

He could hardly believe the Brooks did something like this. No matter what, Cassie was still Robert and Helen's biological daughter.

She must have been in despair and deeply hurt.

Joseph felt a pang of pity for Cassie and regretted not coming to find her sooner.

After getting her to the nearest hospital, Joseph clenched his fists while waiting outside. About half an hour later, the doctor came out of the emergency room and asked, "Was she kidnapped? If you had been an hour later, no one could have saved her."

"Is she saved?" Joseph let out a huge sigh of relief, his long-tense heart finally easing.

"Yes, but her body functions have deteriorated significantly, and her high fever hasn't gone down," the doctor said with a frown. "She'll probably need at least half a month to recover."

Not only was Joseph shocked, but even Nathaniel was taken aback. "The Brooks family are ruthless."

Joseph's face darkened. "Tell the reporters about what happened today. Let the public see the true face of the Brooks family."

"Yes," Nathaniel replied.

Cassie had a dream where she felt like she was about to die, but a warm embrace held her tightly, not letting her go.

That warmth made her feel like she had grasped the last thread of hope to stay alive.

She realized she was still alive, which was her first thought when she opened her eyes.

At that moment, she was covered with a warm blanket, a small bedside lamp was on, and the air conditioning was running in the hospital room.

"Cassie, you're finally awake!" Laura, with red eyes, rushed over, her voice choked with emotion. "You've been in and out of the hospital repeatedly, each time more serious than the last. You nearly scared me to death."

"Did you find me?" Cassie only remembered feeling dizzy, with a severe fever and stomach cramps. She had thought she was going to die.
At that time, she thought maybe dying wouldn't be so bad because she was in so much pain—hungry, cold, and thirsty.

"No, it was Joseph who saved you. I went to the Brooks Villa to find you, but you weren't there. I immediately contacted Joseph, and he rescued you overnight. You were treated in Willowbrook Town until you stabilized, and Joseph transferred you back to Silverwood's hospital this morning. He hasn't slept well for days, but he is always taking care of you. I told him to go rest."

"Joseph?" Cassie murmured, her eyes welling up with tears.

She hadn't expected him to save her repeatedly. Besides cooking a few meals for him and Dakota, she hadn't done much else.

She felt like she owed him a lot.

"You always said he was cold-hearted, but I think he's pretty good," Laura said. "He even leaked the news to the media about the Brookses locking you up and abusing you. Height Architectural Decoration Company's stock has been plummeting since yesterday. Now, everyone online is cursing Robert and Helen. You don't mind, do you?"

"No!" Cassie's eyes filled with intense hatred at the mention of the Brooks family. "They tried to kill me. I won't let this go. I will get my revenge sooner or later!"

Laura sighed. "Don't worry. This time, Height Architectural Decoration Company has taken a huge hit, losing at least tens of millions of dollars in market value."
