Chapter 1239 The Beginning
Trailing behind her was this middle-aged dude in a slick black suit, totally giving off those high-powered business vibes.
"Olivia, have you lost your damn mind? Since when do you think you can just waltz in here?" Cassie shot up from Joseph's lap, looking all kinds of pissed.
Olivia's dramatic entrance was setting off all kinds of alarm bells in Cassie's head.
Joseph was thinking the same thing, but he kept his cool, his face like a stone. His eyes darted to the familiar face of the guy behind Olivia.
With his sharp memory, he instantly knew who it was, his eyes flashing with a dark, surprised glint.
"Looks like you came ready for a showdown," Joseph muttered, his brows knitting together.
"Ah, Mr. Hernandez recognizes me," the middle-aged guy said with a smirk. "Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Zoller Grayson."
Seeing Joseph's sour expression, Olivia grinned like a cat that got the cream. "Cassie, you idiot, meet Zoller, the top dog in mergers and acquisitions. With Mr. Grayson's help, we've snagged fifty percent of the Hernandez Group's shares."
Cassie's head was spinning. She didn't know jack about finance and was totally lost. "No way. How could the Hernandez Group's shareholders just hand over their shares?"
And there was no way Joseph wouldn't have known about it.
"Because it was a hostile takeover," Joseph's hand clamped down on Cassie's shoulder, his anger barely in check.
Cassie glanced back at him. Joseph looked calm, but his eyes were a storm of dark, cold fury.
She suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for him. The Hernandez Group was his baby, the pride of his family. It had just survived an investigation, and now half of it was in Olivia's clutches.
"How I got it is none of your business. The point is, I now have as much say in the Hernandez Group as you do. So why wouldn't I have the right to be here or even..." Olivia strutted over to the desk, slamming her hands down on it. "Or even take this office if I felt like it."
"Bitch." Cassie couldn't hold back and swung her hand to slap Olivia.
But Olivia's bodyguard was faster, grabbing Cassie's hand mid-air.
She struggled to break free, but the guy was way stronger.
Cassie was freaking out, thinking, 'Where the hell did Olivia find these goons?'
"Let go." Joseph threw a punch at the bodyguard.
The bodyguard had underestimated him, but after taking a hit to the nose, he got pissed and called for backup.
The office turned into a chaotic brawl, with Nathaniel and others rushing in with more bodyguards.
Olivia watched with a smug grin, but then Cassie yanked her hair and slapped her hard.
"Cassie, you're gonna pay for this," Olivia screeched, "Get her off me, and take her down!"
"Shut up!" Cassie pulled her closer, making the bodyguards freeze in their tracks.
Olivia was about to get a serious beatdown.
"Let go of Ms. Wittelsbach, or you'll regret it," one of the bodyguards barked.
Joseph took a quick look around and broke the tension, "Alright, enough of this crap. Everyone, back off."
Cassie caught his eye and then shoved Olivia towards her bodyguard.
Olivia, now looking anything but classy, pointed a shaky finger at Cassie. "Get her! Pull her hair and slap her"
"Ms. Wittelsbach," one of the bodyguards said, nodding towards the hallway. "You might wanna see this."
"What the hell am I looking at?" Olivia turned and saw the hallway packed with more bodyguards, her face going ghostly white.
She clutched her sore cheek, glaring at Cassie. "This isn't over. I'm not here to brawl. Just wanted to let you know, from today on, I own half of the Hernandez Group, and I have the right to run it."
She tossed a contract onto the desk. "Starting now, my team will be stationed here. Honestly, I think you suck as chairman. The Hernandez Group is a century-old company, and it barely makes any money. Clearly, the management needs a major overhaul."
Joseph stared at Olivia coldly, then suddenly smirked. "Olivia, I regret it. I should've never sold you to that nightclub back then."
Olivia's face went pale at his words.
It was the deepest scar of her life.
Joseph twisted the knife, "I should've just thrown you into the sea and been done with it."
"Too bad for you, I'm still kicking. Joseph, you put me through hell back then. I swore I'd come back for revenge. This is just the start," Olivia shot back before turning to leave. "Now, I'm gonna take a tour. Haven't seen the factory and lab yet."
As soon as she was gone, Joseph turned to Nathaniel, "Get some guys and tail her. Don't let her near the lab or factory."
Nathaniel shivered. "I can stop her today, but what if she brings more muscle tomorrow? Those two guys are no joke, just like Dragon."
"Then get Dragon's crew. I'm not letting her strut around here like she owns the place," Joseph said coldly.
Nathaniel saw the barely-contained rage in Joseph's eyes and nodded.
"Joseph, what the hell is going on?" Cassie was still in the dark about how Olivia got her claws into the Hernandez Group.
Joseph slammed his fist on the desk.
This was a failure and rage he had never felt before, not even when the Hernandez Group was on the brink of collapse.
"That Zoller guy you saw? He's the top dog in mergers and acquisitions. His team of financial sharks will stop at nothing to take over companies. But getting a team like that isn't something just anyone can do," Joseph explained with a bitter smile. "From what I know, hiring Zoller costs at least two billion dollars."
Cassie was floored. Who the hell would drop two billion to hire a company like that unless they were one of the world's top billionaires?
