Chapter 1211 No, She wouldn't Give Up
"Yeah." Cassie nodded.
Who did Olivia hook up with? Cassie was just as clueless.
Could it be like those TV shows where she found her long-lost parents? But Olivia's parents were Robert and Helen.
"Let's head to the hospital first," Cassie finally said.
She took Michael to the Nelson Hospital.
Laura said, "You talk to Joseph about tonight. I'll stay with him."
"Yeah, go ahead. We'll have the driver pick us up later," Michael added.
Cassie nodded, feeling preoccupied. She thanked them and hurried off.
In the emergency room.
Lucas walked in wearing a white coat. He looked at Michael, who was getting his wounds bandaged, and then at Laura, who rarely accompanied him. "Did you get beaten up at home?"
Laura rolled her eyes. "How could a pregnant woman like me beat him up? Ask Sarah; she should know best."
Lucas's face turned serious. "What happened?"
"Got beaten by Dale, but I didn't go easy on him either," Michael said, wincing. "Joseph's been under investigation. We found out it was related to Cassie's cousin, Olivia, from Silverwood. We heard she was at the Skyline Club tonight. When we got there, Dale was there, and so were Olivia and Sarah. Olivia was acting all high and mighty, and Dale was sucking up to her."
The more Lucas listened, the more shocked he became.
He knew about the investigation into the Hernandez Group, and it seemed serious, involving the president's office. He didn't expect it to involve Dale and Olivia.
Lucas knew Olivia. Three years ago, she pretended to be Joyce to get close to Joseph, then killed the real Joyce and framed Nina, which led to Nina's imprisonment. Olivia even played him like a fool.
But Marcus died too early, and there was no direct evidence that Olivia was behind it all.
He didn't expect Sarah to be involved with Olivia.
A cold chill flashed in Lucas's eyes.
"Who exactly is this Olivia? Dale has always been arrogant," Lucas asked coldly.
"Not sure," Michael shook his head. "But Dale and Olivia seemed very confident, like bringing down Joseph was just a matter of time. Who could it be that even people from the president's office have to curry favor with?"
Lucas's heartstrings tugged. He thought Joseph might be in real danger this time.
However, what angered Lucas was Sarah.
After Michael was bandaged, he and Laura took the driver's car back to the Jude Villa.
On the way, Michael looked dejected. He rarely got into fights, and this was the first time he had been so seriously injured.
Laura glanced at him. His face was smeared with ointment, and red and blue patches made his usually handsome face look quite comical.
She, however, did not find Michael disagreeable for the first time. "Thanks for today."
Michael was stunned. He rarely heard Laura thank him.
He quickly looked over, and Laura, a bit awkward, said, "Anyway, you got into this because of me. If it weren't for you, Cassie and I might not have gotten out unscathed tonight."
"Forget it. With Cassie's fierce personality..." Michael muttered, then paused and said, "You don't always have to thank me. Didn't you say that before?"
Laura didn't push it, but she felt that since she and Michael were married, they were on the same team. No need to act like enemies.
Cassie planned to drive to the Hernandez Group, but after a call, she found out Joseph had already gone home.
She drove back to the Hernandez House. Sophia and Oliver were playing with Mildred, and Joseph was still having dinner.
He seemed in a bad mood and had little appetite.
Seeing her return, he put down his fork. "Where did you go? Rosalind said you left in a hurry after dinner."
"I went to check on something." Cassie sat down and told him about tonight's events.
Joseph's face turned stern, and he seemed a bit angry. "Cassie, how could you not discuss such a big matter with me?"
"I knew you were busy." Cassie blinked her innocent eyes, looking like she could make any man unable to scold her.
But Joseph was genuinely angry. "You have no idea how ruthless Dale can be. And Michael didn't tell me about this. Aren't you afraid of getting hurt?"
"If I had the guts to go, I was confident I could get out unscathed," Cassie said, shrugging. "If I didn't go, how could I be sure it was related to Olivia?"
"I'll have Dragon's people keep a close eye on Dale. I'm sure Dale knows who is behind Olivia and will try to curry favor with them. Then we'll know who it is," Joseph said coldly.
He wasn't afraid of the Hernandez Group being investigated but not knowing the opponent's background.
"Are you sure you can handle it?" Cassie asked, worried.
Joseph was silent for a few seconds, then pressed his lips together. "If I can't handle it, you should take Sophia and Oliver abroad."
Cassie's heart skipped a beat.
Joseph used to be so confident. Seeing him like this made her feel a bit lost.
"What about you?" she asked after a long pause.
"I don't care who is backing Olivia. Since she's come to Madison, I'll make sure they don't leave." Joseph's bloodshot eyes flashed with determination. "It was my mistake that led to today's Olivia. I won't let this mistake happen again. I will protect you and the kids."
"Is it really that bad?" Cassie asked bitterly. She had been confident in front of Olivia, but she wasn't sure herself.
"If even Dale has to be cautious around Olivia, then the person behind Olivia might control the global economy."
Joseph's heavy words left Cassie stunned. She didn't understood why fate was so unfair. How could such a malicious woman like Olivia have someone helping her time and again?
"Cassie, I'm sorry." Joseph suddenly hugged her tightly. "I wish I could always be with you like this."
Cassie hugged him tightly, filled with unwillingness.
They had come so far together.
No, she wouldn't give up.
She had to try at least.
Suddenly, Cassie thought of Everett.
That night, while Joseph was taking a shower, Cassie dialed Everett's number.
