Chapter 1182 Mr. Nelson, Can You Leave?

"Don't forget to invite us when you and Mr. Nelson tie the knot," Curtis Washington, the male lead, said with a grin.

"Of course, no problem," Sarah replied, smiling. No matter what Lucas was like in private, to everyone else, she was about to become his enviable wife.

In the cramped lounge, Stella Coleman, the assistant, grumbled, "This lounge is way too small."

"Don't complain. Lots of people would pay to join Ms. Gray's crew," Bernice said nonchalantly.

"You didn't pay to join, did you? The company insisted you be the second female lead," Stella said. "This role just makes Sarah look better. Why should you support her? She's not as pretty or talented as you. Let's just quit."

Bernice smiled weakly. "Is this really that bad? Remember when I wasn't famous? I got cold stares everywhere, did my own makeup, and stayed in cheap guesthouses."

Stella bit her lip. "But you're a big deal now. Someone's trying to push you out. You should've told Mr. Nelson you weren't late on purpose. The crew put you in the most remote hotel, and it takes forty minutes to get here. This morning, the car tire blew out, and we had to walk."

Bernice looked helpless.

What could she say?

It was obvious Sarah was behind this.

Sarah saw Bernice coming out of the office disheveled last time and later found out only Lucas was inside, so she got jealous.

Stella kept complaining, "No one from the crew called to tell us we needed makeup this morning. It's ridiculous."

"Go talk to the costume team later. Stop talking, someone's coming," Bernice reminded Stella.

Soon, the stylist came in. After an hour, Bernice frowned at her reflection.

Stella couldn't hold back. "This look is awful. It makes Bernice look old."

The stylist was annoyed. "What do you mean? I spent over a month on this look. It's not my fault; it's her face."

"Bernice has done so many dramas, and people online praise her beauty. Now you're saying her face is the problem?" Stella snapped. "We don't expect you to make her stunning, but at least don't make her look ugly. This will affect her future roles."

"This role isn't about her beauty. She's just the second female lead. If she looks too good, what about the lead actress? Some actors make themselves look ugly or old for a role. If Bernice can't do this, why doesn't she go act in idol dramas?" the stylist said coldly. "If you're not happy, talk to the director and get someone else." With that, the stylist left.

"Come on! They're doing this on purpose. I'll see if another stylist can fix it," Stella said, walking out.

Bernice quietly looked at herself in the mirror and started doing her own styling.

When she finished, she put down the lipstick.

As she turned around, she saw Lucas standing at the door. With his tall, elegant figure and mischievous smile, he looked quite handsome.

Bernice frowned, unsure how long he'd been there. "Mr. Nelson, you're in the wrong place. Sarah's lounge isn't here."

"I didn't know you were so good at styling," Lucas said. He'd been watching since she started doing her hair.

He watched her fingers skillfully move through her hair as if she had eyes back there.

Bernice knew how to highlight her beauty. A simple hairstyle was enough to accentuate her finely sculpted face. Lucas didn't realize she could look this stunning.

"I had no choice. Someone bribed the stylist to mess with me, so I had to do it myself," Bernice said indifferently, as if it didn't bother her.

"Are you saying Sarah did it?" Lucas stared at her, a hint of mockery in his eyes. "Are you complaining to me?"

Bernice frowned, unsure of his meaning.

She wondered, 'Is he blaming me for mentioning Sarah? Or reminding me that Sarah is his woman and I shouldn't talk about her?'

"Whatever, I can handle it myself." Bernice stood up. "Mr. Nelson, can you leave? I need to close the door to change."

"Are you mad because I didn't help you?" Lucas didn't leave. Instead, he leaned against the door, his lips curling into an amused smile.

"No, with your status, I wouldn't dare to be mad," Bernice replied calmly.

"So, you want to be mad but are suppressing it." Lucas looked down at her calm eyes.

He thought, 'She resembles Nina so much, the woman I sent to prison.'

Bernice was speechless, not understanding what he was getting at. "Mr. Nelson, what exactly do you want?"

She was busy and didn't have time to waste on him.

Lucas lazily leaned against the door. "This lounge is very small."

Bernice pursed her lips. "It's what the crew arranged."

"Bernice," Lucas's voice was low, and his eyes darkened. "I can give you an opportunity to rise above everyone else."

Nina was dead, and her family was gone. She had only Laura, Cassie, and Bernice as friends. Laura and Cassie had everything they wanted, while Bernice had nothing. So, it was a chance for Lucas to make it up to Nina.

Although Lucas hated Bernice's past, she was Nina's friend.

Bernice was stunned. She immediately thought of the last time Lucas forcibly kissed her and seemed to understand something. Her disgust for Lucas peaked at that moment.

"I appreciate your kindness, but I'm not interested in getting involved with a man who's about to get married," Bernice said, staring straight at him.

Lucas raised an eyebrow, knowing she misunderstood.

Even if she misunderstood, he had thrown out a topic that would excite any woman in the entertainment industry, and she just rejected it.

Lucas thought, 'Is she still hung up on that Gary?'
