Chapter 1613 Uncovering the Truth

"Help her?" Landon laughed angrily. "I did that to teach Megan a lesson. Why do you think the nanny told you everything? I paid her. Why do you think Megan was conveniently in bed with me when you arrived, and why were the reporters there at just the right time?"

"You played me," Michael said, grabbing Landon's collar fiercely.

Landon sneered, "I'm part of Cascade Dynamics Group. No woman has ever dared to scheme against me. She dared to scheme, so I made her life a living hell. Megan wanted to trick me into paying you back. What a delusional, greedy woman. You should thank me. I made you see Megan for who she really is. Without me, you'd be played by her your whole life."

Michael stood there, frozen.

Landon poked Michael's chest with pity. "Do you know what Megan says about you behind your back? She says you're terrible in bed and can't satisfy her. She says you're stingy with money, that she has to watch your face before buying anything. She even begged me to take her away from Madison because she can't stand being around you."

Michael's beautiful lips trembled with anger.

Stingy with money?

She constantly complained about being short on cash. Even when he thought she was being wasteful, even when he felt financially strained, he still gave her money. Each handbag cost over a hundred thousand dollars, each necklace hundreds of thousands, and her clothes were always the latest luxury items. He never refused her. Yet, Megan belittled him behind his back.

His decade of kindness to Megan was worth less than treating a dog well.

Cassie laughed and chimed in, "Though I despise Megan, she was right about one thing: Michael is too tight with money. Otherwise, why wouldn't he give his kids any support after the divorce?"

"That can't be," Landon was taken aback. "Didn't he spend three hundred million dollars on Megan in just over three months of marriage?"

"That much?" Cassie covered her mouth in surprise, her disdain growing. "I didn't know that. I thought he treated all women like that. After the divorce, he only spent a few thousand dollars on his daughter, buying clothes and toys."

"Enough, stop talking." Michael couldn't listen anymore.

His face was filled with embarrassment. "I admit I didn't give Laura and Maeve any support, but didn't my parents give them enough? Maeve even has shares in the Jude Group and gets annual dividends. Meanwhile, the companies I invested in are all losing money."

"What do the Jude Group shares have to do with you?" Joseph Oliver frowned. "Those were earned by your Jude family ancestors and given to Maeve by your father, not you. Ask yourself, what have you given Maeve?"

"Exactly. Laura is kind-hearted. Even though you haven't fulfilled any fatherly duties, she never took away your title as a father," Cassie said with undisguised disgust. "Is it so hard to admit you're completely wrong?"

"Fine, I was wrong. I know I was wrong, okay?"

Michael began to tremble all over, clenching his fists in pain. Besides Megan's betrayal, he had been thinking a lot about his guilt towards Laura and Maeve.

He thought about how he abandoned such a good wife and a lovely daughter for a woman like Megan, and it made him want to kill someone in agony.

He was so foolish.

How could he be deceived by Megan over and over again?

Was he mentally ill?

No, he wasn't.

Michael's gaze fell on Landon. "I must have been hypnotized by Megan. Yes, that must be it. Joseph, didn't you say Megan altered your memory before? And Landon, you were hypnotized by her too."

"You probably weren't," Joseph interrupted. "We've argued with you several times. If your memory had been altered, we would have noticed."

"You're not like Landon either," Cassie added. "If your memory had been altered, even knowing Megan betrayed you, you'd still be influenced by her and wouldn't have hit her."

Joseph nodded in agreement.

Michael was shocked, then laughed bitterly.

He just wanted to find an acceptable reason for himself.

But he realized that other men who had been with Megan were only bewitched because they were hypnotized. He was the only one who was simply deceived because he trusted her.

He was truly foolish.

Everyone was right to scold him.

"So, was it you who called the police on Megan today?" he asked, staring blankly at Joseph, Cassie, and Bernice.

Cassie said, "Megan once bribed a doctor to falsely claim I had a mental illness and had me committed to a psychiatric hospital. I've found the doctor who took the bribe."

Joseph spoke calmly, "Landon and I are both victims of Megan's hypnosis. I used to have memory issues and couldn't gather evidence. Now Landon is experiencing the same, but he has evidence of Megan's hypnosis. I'm here to testify for Landon."

Bernice said coldly, "As for me, I'm here to clear the Zenith family's name. Given Megan's history of using hypnosis on men, I have reason to suspect she had the opportunity and motive to kill Esmeralda after leaving the Zenith Manor. We've found Esmeralda's ashes buried in the cemetery and handed them over for verification. The ashes aren't human; they're from some animal. This means Megan is not only suspected of murder but also of desecrating a body."

Michael felt terrified.

Laura had told him these things before, but he never believed her and even defended Megan repeatedly.

Now, with all the evidence laid out before him, he started to believe.

Megan was terrifying.

What kind of demon had he provoked?

"That's not all." Joseph suddenly said, "I've found her only brother, Nathan. Nathan has told the police that Megan incited him to provoke the terminally ill William. Megan told Nathan that if William died, everything in the Zenith Group would be his. Megan knew very well that William's condition couldn't withstand any provocation."
