Chapter 979 Doubt Was Clearing Up
When he said the last sentence, a cold and sinister look appeared in Joseph's eyes. It was a look of disgust and hatred that Lucas had never seen before.
Lucas couldn't understand why Joseph suddenly hated Megan to this extent. Was it because of the last time Spencer kidnapped someone? But that was just a suspicion, and there was no other evidence to prove that Megan had arranged it on purpose.
"What exactly happened?" Lucas asked.
"Even if I told you, would you believe me?" Joseph laughed self-deprecatingly. "Michael believes Megan, not me at all."
Lucas frowned slightly. "Tell me about it. Michael loves Megan too much, making it hard for him to analyze things calmly."
"I used to be like that, too." Joseph sneered, pointing to his head. "Three years ago, when Megan was treating me, she used hypnosis on me. I asked Harold who treated me when I was a child. There is an ancient form of hypnosis in Yugrot , which can alter a person's emotions and implant whatever you want to change them. Now you understand why three years ago I suddenly wanted to be with Megan and got divorced with Cassie."
Lucas was a bit stunned. "Aren't you being too sensitive? If it were true, didn't you feel anything wrong before?"
"Yes, that's the terrifying part of that hypnosis. Didn't you say before that I used to eat street food with Cassie and even broke Leon's legs for her? That's when I started feeling something was off. I went to Silverwood to find Noah and talked to the housekeeper who used to cook there. What they saw and knew was completely different from the memories in my head. My mind were full of bad memories about Cassie, even making me hate her, thinking she was just a gold-digger who wanted my money!
"In my mind, Cassie was extremely malicious, and there was no memory of me ever loving her. Lucas, I know myself. If I had loved a woman, even if I didn't like her anymore, I couldn't be so cruel to her. Not mention she was carrying my child. At that time, my mind was full of love for Megan, thinking she had done so much for me, and I had to be with her. But these three years, every time I tried to touch Megan, I felt physically nauseous. Megan hypnotized my brain, but my body instinctively rejected her. Yet, I had no problem intimating with Cassie." Joseph smiled bitterly.
Lucas felt overwhelmed. As a doctor, it was the first time he had heard of such a thing. "Could it be a coincidence, or maybe someone else did it?"
"No, it must be Megan. Besides the sudden love for Megan back then, none of my other emotions were altered. After the change, Megan was the only beneficiary. Moreover, Harold said the hypnotist must be someone I completely trusted; otherwise, it wouldn't work! The success rate is very low. If it fails, I would become an idiot. Lucas's look was complex. No wonder Michael didn't believe it, as it was too unbelievable.

"Lucas, you and Michael don't live with me like Nathaniel and Cassie, so you might not notice," Joseph said calmly. "Besides, Megan and I had been in a relationship for over ten years. It's normal for you to think I haven't forgotten Megan, but have I ever forgotten memories of you and Michael?"
Lucas was shocked.
Indeed, sometimes during gatherings, Joseph still remembered things about his old friends, but he couldn't recall many things about Cassie.
"If it was true, then Megan is quite terrifying." Lucas shivered. He had seen many narrow-minded women but never one as good at disguising as Megan.
"No, Megan isn't just terrifying; she's malicious." Joseph sneered. "Harold said that hypnosis was rarely used because it failed too often and was too malicious. No one dared to use it, but Megan used it on me. Megan always claimed to love me, but she knew that if it failed, I would become an idiot, yet she still did it."
"Then, do you think Megan might have used it on Michael, too?" Lucas asked hesitantly.
"There is no need. Michael's infatuation with her is clearly enough," Joseph said in a low voice. "I used to think it was good for Megan and Michael to be together. Michael loves Megan, but Megan isn't a good woman. She likes the Jude family more than Michael. She isn't necessarily a decent person."
"Are you talking about Rex?" Lucas asked.
Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Megan is full of lies. She used to say Rex forced her. I believed it before, but not anymore. Megan was probably quite willing to sleep with Rex. When she disappeared for years in Austin, she said she was kidnapped, but I don't believe that anymore either."
Lucas waited for Joseph to continue.
"The classmates and friends who were with Megan at the time were all found dead. Why was Megan the only one survive? We used to believe Megan, so we believed everything she said. But what if Megan was lying? Megan said Rex threatened her with some photos. We all know she was forced into sexual relations before. If I cared, I wouldn't have proposed to Megan. Rex likely had more than just photos! Maybe Megan willingly slept with those kidnappers to stay alive," Joseph remarked.
Lucas was shocked again, pondering, 'It isn't entirely unreasonable.'
"Rex is dead, and there's no evidence." Lucas sighed.
"Yes, it is the most terrifying and suspicious part," Joseph said thoughtfully.
Lucas was silent for a long time.
Lucas considered Megan like a sister and needed time to accept these matters.
"There's one more thing," Nathaniel suddenly said. "Mr. Hernandez, three years ago, when you were still normal, you suddenly asked me to go to the funeral home to get Isabella's ashes for testing. I was shocked, but I did as you asked. Later, I found out it was not ashes."
Lucas was horrified. "What? Then what were they?"
Joseph fell into deep thought. "It seems you mentioned it before."
