Chapter 1104 Kept A Secret
"Remember what I said. Respect Cassie from now on," Joseph said with a smile before leaving.
Michael was almost in tears. He was the patient, yet Joseph still had to warn him. It was too much.
Joseph quickly drove to the Peace Group.
By the time he got there, Cassie had been waiting for a while.
When she got in the car, she looked upset. "Joseph, you made me wait five extra minutes."
She wasn't usually impatient, but on the first day of their reconciliation, it felt like he didn't value her.
"Cassie, don't be mad. It's my fault," Joseph apologized. "I just came from the Nelson Hospital. The road was jammed."
"What were you doing at the hospital?" Cassie’s expression softened a bit.
Joseph awkwardly touched his nose. "I was checking out the urology department."
Cassie was speechless. On their first day back together, he went to the urology department. His intentions were too obvious.
"So, did you get it fixed?"
"The doctor said it would take some time," Joseph said, looking both frustrated and nervous. "Cassie, you don't mind, do you?"
"I'm not as obsessed with sex as you are," Cassie retorted, looking annoyed.
Joseph awkwardly whispered, "I heard women who've had kids have a higher sex drive."
"Who told you that?" Cassie was furious, her face turning red.
"Some old guys at social gatherings," Joseph explained.
"They're talking nonsense. You should focus on work," Cassie snapped. She was worried about her divorce, and he was thinking about sex.
"Okay, I was wrong. I also went to see Michael," Joseph admitted. "I warned him to respect you or I'd beat him up. From now on, I'll only listen to you. You're my treasure."
Cassie blinked and pretended to be angry. "So, you haven't cut ties with him yet."
Seeing her anger, Joseph panicked. "Cassie, don't misunderstand. I haven't seen Michael in a long time. We're not close anymore."
Cassie scrutinized him. "If this were before, you'd be mad at me."
"I was young and immature back then, but now I understand that I should listen to you," Joseph replied earnestly.
Cassie was silent, surprised by his self-awareness.
After a while, she said, "It's good you realize it. I don't like Michael at all. When he dragged Laura to get an abortion, I wanted to kill him. He may look good, but he has no sense of responsibility. I won't support Laura being with him."
"But a child still needs a father," Joseph said cautiously.
"It depends on the father. If he's foolish, the child won't turn out well. For the child's sake, it's better not to have a father like that," Cassie dismissed.
Joseph fell silent, thinking Michael's return to the Jude family might take a while.
As they drove, Cassie noticed Joseph seemed to be taking a roundabout route. After a bit, he sped up towards Seashore Avenue.
"Who are you taking me to see? Why so mysterious, like you're afraid of being followed?" Cassie asked.
"Cassie, you're so smart," Joseph praised. "You'll find out soon. I won't spoil the surprise."
Seeing him being secretive, Cassie didn't press further.
Fifty minutes later, they arrived at a villa. Although the villa was not by the sea, they could see the ocean below the mountain from the yard.
"Is this your new house?" Cassie asked, puzzled. The guard seemed to know Joseph well.
"No," Joseph said, opening the passenger door and helping her out.
The air was fresh, and Cassie guessed the villa must be expensive.
She followed Joseph inside and saw Cameron sitting at a large dining table. He had a prominent nose and a mature aura, though a deep scar marred his face. Despite that, he resembled Joseph and must have been very handsome when younger.
"You're here," Cameron said, noticing their tightly held hands and smiling.
"Come, Cassie, let me introduce you. This is my father, Cameron," Joseph said, holding her hand. "He's also the chairman of the Garrison Group."
Cassie was shocked. 'So this is Joseph's father, Cameron? Wasn't he the one who relied on Mabel, then abandoned Joseph and left Madison? And now he's the chairman of the Garrison Group?'
She had heard of the Garrison Group, a major foreign electronics and electrical company with advanced technologies in energy, medical, and tech fields. Many domestic companies wanted to collaborate with them, but the Garrison Group rarely worked with companies in Madison. Recently, the Chamberlain family announced a close partnership with them.
But Marcus probably didn't know the Garrison Group's chairman was Cameron.
"Surprised?" Joseph smiled and sat her down. "Dad has given me all the important advanced technologies of the Garrison Group. The Chamberlain Group only has the superficial stuff, but they've invested a lot of money. Soon, the Hernandez Group will launch a series of products and rise again."
Cassie realized Joseph had been planning all along. She had thought he was just being lazy, always coming to see her.
This was Cameron's first time meeting Cassie, and he looked at her with curiosity.
"Cameron, nice to meet you," Cassie nodded politely.
Cameron smiled slightly. "I hope you can keep my identity a secret. It's not time to reveal it yet."
"Don't worry. I won't. I also dislike the Chamberlain family," Cassie said honestly.
