Chapter 935 He Just Wanted Her to Shut Up
"Joseph, you said you wouldn't hurt me again. Are you going back on your word?" she hurriedly said. "But then again, you've never kept a single promise to me."
Joseph was angry but suddenly froze as if he had been bound. He lowered his eyes only to see Cassie looking at him with mocking eyes.
"I... I don't break my word," he said, standing up straight after three seconds, his heart filled with pain and bitterness. "But... Cassie, don't provoke me. I consider you my exclusive woman. Although I dated Megan, besides you, I've never touched another woman in my life."
Cassie was stunned, then sneered, "Don't take me for a fool. You dated Megan for over ten years. Maybe you didn't touch her in the past three years, but you were together for a long time before that. I don't believe you."
"I used to think she was too young, but then I was busy controlling the Hernandez family and had no time for such things. Later, she disappeared in Austin. From beginning to end, I've only had you," Joseph said, sometimes finding it incredible himself.
There were some things he had yet to say. He never felt the same impulse and passion with Megan as he did with Cassie.
He hadn't understood it before, but now he vaguely did. He had always protected Megan at all costs, perhaps not out of love; he saw her as family, as the only light in his dark past. He used to believe Megan was kind and good, forgetting that people's hearts could change.
It wasn't until he met Cassie that he understood deep and unforgettable love. Being with her brought him immense ease, sweetness, and joy.
When he couldn't see her, he missed her a lot. The food she cooked was the most delicious in the world.
No matter what she looked like, he always thought she was the most beautiful woman.
"The clothes are here. Put them on and come down. I'll make you breakfast," Joseph said, then turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Cassie lay in bed, lost in thought for a while, then slowly got up to take a shower. As the warm water hit her body, she still found it unbelievable.
Joseph's first time was with her?
She could hardly believe it.
After showering, she put on a brand-new pair of jeans and a white T-shirt. Although the style wasn't the latest luxury fashion, it was very comfortable. However, the hickeys on her neck and collarbone were impossible to hide.
She considered it and decided not to care since no one she knew was on the island. The most pressing matter was to find out where she was and contact someone outside.
She no longer had the courage to contact David, so she could only contact Spencer and Peter.
After leaving the room, Cassie encountered a maid. Cassie asked to borrow her phone, but the maid didn't even speak English. Frustrated, she resorted to gestures.
After much effort, she managed to get the phone from the maid's pocket. Cassie was dumbfounded to see such an old-fashioned phone with unfamiliar characters on it. She couldn't understand anything, let alone download any common social media apps.
She asked several other servants, but it was the same story.
In the end, she was in despair. What kind of place was this?
Feeling disheartened, she walked downstairs to find Joseph and saw him wearing an apron and bringing breakfast out of the kitchen.
She glanced at the table, which had fried eggs, milk, sandwiches, avocado, vegetable salad, and various fresh fruits.
"In the past, you captured my heart through my stomach with your cooking. Now, I will use my culinary skills to win your heart back," Joseph said as he took off his apron and set it aside.
Today, he wore a white T-shirt similar in color to hers paired with jeans. His tousled hair fell lazily over his forehead, making him look like a young boy, with his entire sharp aura completely subdued.
Cassie was speechless. Was he trying to wear matching outfits with her?
If she had any other clothes to wear, she would have taken them off immediately.
"Forget it. With your lousy cooking skills, I don't believe you made these," Cassie scoffed.
"I really did it. I've been learning from a chef these past few days. You used to cook for me, now I'll cook for you. If you don't believe me, look at my hands." Joseph extended his ten fingers.
His clean fingers now bore some knife scars, and his palms had a thin layer of calluses.
"It hurts." Joseph blinked his dark eyelashes at her, and with his dazzlingly handsome face, any woman would feel sorry for him.
But Cassie didn't know what it meant to feel sorry for him anymore. "For a grown man, you complain about pain too easily while David would never do that."
Joseph fell silent. His good mood was completely ruined by the mention of "David."
Cassie ignored his stiff expression and started eating breakfast.
Although she hated Joseph, she wouldn't let her stomach go empty. If she got a stomach ache, she wouldn't be able to enjoy good food in the future.
"Is it good?" Joseph asked eagerly.
Cassie glanced at him indifferently and then replied, "Not really, not as good as David's cooking."
Joseph turned pale and warned, "I don't want to hear David's name from your mouth again."
"So what if I say it?" Cassie sneered at him. "What, are you going to hurt me again? Your promises are just empty words."
Joseph gritted his teeth. She had found his weak spot.
"I won't hurt you." His eagle eyes fell on her lips. "But if you keep mentioning David, I'll have to shut you up."
With that, before Cassie could react, he leaned over and kissed her lips. She had just drunk milk, and there was a faint milky and sweet taste on her lips.
Originally, he just wanted to make her stop talking, but he couldn't control himself.
Cassie felt disgusted and tried to push him away, but he wouldn't budge.
In a fit of anger, she grabbed a fork from the table and stabbed it into his back. She felt his body tremble, but what followed was an even more passionate kiss. The kiss lasted until she was almost suffocated.
"Let's see if you dare mention another man again," Joseph said as he stood up, his eyes dark as he stared at her slightly swollen lips.
Cassie wiped her mouth forcefully and glared at him, but she didn't dare say another word. She was truly afraid of his kiss.
"You eat first," he said, then turned around.
It was only then that Cassie noticed a large bloodstain seeped through his white T-shirt from behind his shoulder..
She looked down at the fork in her hand, which was still covered in blood. She was shocked.
He was a lunatic. She had clearly stabbed him, yet he could still kiss her for so long. Didn't he feel any pain? Upstairs, Joseph took off his T-shirt and turned to look in the mirror. There were four holes behind his shoulder, and he was bleeding profusely.
