Chapter 1746 Don't Bother Me

"She doesn't mess around."

Lucas smirked, thinking about Bernice from a few days ago. Her passion in bed made him want her even more, especially since it had been a while since he'd been with anyone.

Thinking back to that day at the hospital, he realized he might've been a bit harsh.

But who could blame him? She was being unreasonable, and by now, she should've cooled off.

Back at his desk, Lucas shot Bernice a message on Facebook: [Come over to my place, clean up, and wait for me.]

Bernice, about to hop in the shower at her apartment, cursed under her breath.

If he hadn't threatened her, she wouldn't be cleaning up and waiting for him.

She didn't want to go.

But she had played her part this far, and not going wasn't an option.

Bernice took a shower and even sprayed herself with some particularly tacky perfume.

When she arrived, Lucas wasn't back yet. She took a pill and lay down to sleep.

At midnight, Lucas came back slightly drunk. Seeing Bernice lying on the bed, a cold sneer flashed in his mind.

Look at that, Bernice talked so proudly, but when he told her to come over, she did.

Originally, Lucas was quite interested, but now he was only half as enthusiastic. As he got closer and smelled the tacky perfume on her, his interest dropped even more.

"You're back," Bernice pretended to have just woken up.

"Bernice, did you do this on purpose? What kind of awful stuff did you spray on yourself? It makes me want to puke," Lucas said impatiently, grabbing her chin.

Bernice feigned surprise, "Perfume. It's the same scent Sarah uses."

"Who told you to use the same perfume as her?" Lucas hadn't noticed, but he indeed didn't like the scent on Sarah either.

"You like her, so I thought you'd like her scent too," Bernice said, pretending to be confused.

Lucas picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.

"I'm taking you to the shower."

He carried her in and doused her with shampoo and body wash.

They stayed in there for about forty to fifty minutes before coming out.

Lucas lay on the bed with her, touching her face and teasing, "You know, someone told me today that you're a pure and cold woman. What you just did wasn't pure at all."

"I didn't want to, but you're so good at sex." Bernice bit her lip and then shyly hid under the covers.

"Bernice, stop pretending," Lucas pulled her out. "Aren't you mad about how I treated you last time?"

"I was mad, but what can I do?" Bernice said helplessly. "Lucas, I'm with you now. I know I might not be as important as Sarah, but did you have to hit me for those documents? My face still hurts."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened.

Seeing Bernice like this, Lucas felt even more bored. This Bernice was no different from other women. He could hardly remember what she used to be like.

"Next time, remember not to touch my stuff," he said coldly. "And don't come to the hospital to find me."

With that, he rolled up in the blanket, not bothering with her anymore.

Bernice tried to snuggle up to him.

Lucas pushed her away, but she kept trying. Finally, Lucas, annoyed, kicked her off the bed, "Go sleep in the other room, don't bother me.""Lucas, you're too much."

Bernice, acting like she couldn't take it, rushed over, yanked his blanket, and scratched his chest on purpose.

Lucas, exhausted from drinking and their earlier activities, was annoyed. He grabbed her wrist and shoved her out of the bedroom. "Don't bother me again, or I'll throw you out."

He slammed the door shut.

Bernice smirked and went to the other room.

Did he think she wanted to sleep next to him? She'd sleep even better without him.

The next morning, Lucas woke up with that usual morning urge.

Normally, he'd just deal with it.

But remembering Bernice in the other room, he went over, lifted the blanket, and pressed down on her.

He treated her like a convenient outlet.

After they finished, he didn't give her a second thought and left.

He went back to his room, took another shower, and saw Bernice eating breakfast in the dining room.

He walked over, noticing how tired and worn out she looked.

Lucas frowned, feeling a bit disgusted.

He remembered when Bernice used to have great skin.

"Lucas," Bernice put down her knife and fork, "I heard the FD spokesperson's contract is about to expire. A lot of actresses are vying for it. Can you help me out?"

"Sure."

Considering her effort last night and this morning, Lucas agreed.

But he looked down on Bernice even more. Just like other women, always wanting something.

Lucas ate a little, changed his shoes, and headed to work.

After the door closed, Bernice went upstairs to remove her makeup.

She had deliberately made herself look tired and haggard. Lucas's disdainful look earlier was obvious.

She smiled sadly for the old Nina.

For women, aging was inevitable.

What right did Lucas have to despise her? Could he stay young forever?

He didn't know how disgusting he was.

Fortunately, her plan was mostly working.

But to make him completely hate her, she needed more help.

After getting into the nanny van, she checked her schedule.

Next Wednesday, there was a celebrity charity event, with most of the entertainment industry attending, including Sarah.

Perfect, Lucas already disliked her enough, and now she had the help she needed.

An hour later, the van arrived at the set.

It was still early, and a few actors were chatting while waiting to shoot.

The male lead, Marlon, and the second female lead, Cecilia, were there, along with a few veteran actors.

As Bernice walked over from the corridor, a small tree blocked her view, so they didn't notice her. As she got closer, she heard Cecilia talking.

"That's why I say actors should focus on their work. Relying on sponsors is unreliable. Everyone in our company knows Mr. Nelson only has eyes for Sarah. So, when you attend events and see Sarah, be careful not to offend her."

"Cecilia, thanks for the heads-up. We thought Mr. Nelson had gotten tired of Sarah."

"No, Mr. Nelson just plays around with other women. He and Sarah had a little disagreement, but they're fine now. Sarah is very favored by Erin."

"So, Sarah might become Mrs. Nelson."
