Chapter 34 Once it's live-streamed, my life will be over
"Anthony, do you still like her?"
"She always looked down on me, acting all high and mighty. I want to play with her," Anthony said maliciously. "I want to see her beg in pain."
"Alright, I'll give you a chance."
Charlotte explained her plan to him, and Anthony's heart raced with excitement. "Isn't this a bit too much?"
"Don't worry. I've got your back. Cassie has no one to help her now. If something happens, the Brooks family will only want to distance themselves from her even more."
"Fine, I'll put on a good show for you tonight." Anthony looked at Cassie's beautiful figure and smiled.
Cassie, already tipsy, vaguely saw the waiter bring another cocktail.
She couldn't remember if she had ordered it, but since her drink was empty, she picked it up and drank it.
Not long after, she closed her eyes on the sofa.
At the club, Dakota lay on a nearby stool. Joseph placed a plate with some small fish in front of it, but Dakota listlessly took a couple of bites before turning its head away in disdain.
Noah scoffed, "Your cat is really picky."
"It's your chef that's not up to par."
"Then why don't you go home?" Noah retorted. "You always say the food at home is the best. Why don't you have Cassie cook for you?"
"Don't mention her to me." Joseph's face darkened.
"What did she do to you?" Noah suddenly remembered. "Wasn't there a bid at the convention center today?"
"I said, don't mention her," Joseph warned.
Noah shrugged and said nothing more.
During their conversation, Noah received a call and then said to Joseph, "David Foster from the Wit Group is in the next room. He wants to discuss the business proposal we talked about."
"You go. I'm not interested in simple deals."
Noah reluctantly went to the next room.
Twenty minutes later, Noah returned, pulled out a chair, and sat down. "In that room, there's Felix, the head of the tech convention center, and Arthur from the Lewis Group. Arthur used to be Cassie's boyfriend."
"Are you done?" Joseph was getting impatient.
"Listen to me," Noah said seriously. "Arthur and Olivia are getting engaged next month. David is Arthur's uncle, and Height Architectural Decoration Company won today's bid. Don't you find it strange that they're all together?"
Joseph, not very familiar with Silverwood's network of relationships, finally understood. "Did Height Architectural Decoration Company pull some strings?"
Joseph grew even angrier. "Didn't I tell you to ensure fairness and justice?"
Noah's face darkened. "I only said to give CZ Decoration Company a fair chance. Felix probably thought it was just to give a small company some exposure. He didn't know I was looking out for Cassie."
Joseph rubbed his temples, thinking, 'No wonder Cassie's excellent design got eliminated, and she seemed off this evening.'
After a moment, he took out his phone and called Nathaniel. "Find out what happened during today's bidding."
Noah said, "I can find out just by asking around."
Joseph sneered. "I'd rather not rely on you."
Noah felt frustrated, realizing it was indeed his oversight. Just then, his phone kept buzzing with messages in the group chat.
He glanced at it and shook his head. "The rich people in Silverwood are really decadent. But this woman is quite beautiful. It's a pity; once this kind of thing is live-streamed, her life is over."
