Chapter 191
"The lawyer chatting with him shivered inexplicably and excused himself quickly, carrying his drink off to join a dice game elsewhere.
Noah Collins slid into the seat beside him, exasperated. “Bro, I kindly brought her over for you, how much longer will you two keep this up?”
“Are you sure you weren’t calling Sam over?” Joseph sneered.
“Oh, man,” Noah groaned. “You ignore her when she walks in, what do you expect?”
Joseph gave a cold laugh. “Heh, forget it. A woman as restless and improper as she is turns my stomach. Better off without her.”
Just then, two more people entered—Andrew accompanied by Charlotte Jones and Olivia Brooks.
Noah was speechless.
Andrew scanned the room and strode towards them. “Mr. Collins, we were playing nearby and heard you were here. Wanted to stop by and pay our respects. And this must be the famous Mr. Hernandez, I presume. An honor to finally meet you.”
Joseph maintained a stony-faced silence, but Noah couldn’t afford to. While he could dismiss Charlotte Jones, he couldn’t ignore Andrew—the new head of the influential Jones family, a force that had been rapidly expanding its power.
""Looks like the entire Jones family is rallying behind you now,"" Noah Collins remarked with a teasing smirk, casting a glance at Olivia Brooks. ""But what's the deal with you and a girl from the down-and-out Brooks family? Couldn't find any other woman?""
Andrew burst into laughter and suddenly pulled Olivia close, announcing loudly, ""Gather around, folks, let me introduce my girlfriend, the daughter of Robert, a major shareholder of the Peace Group.""
The room instantly buzzed with activity, and even Noah Collins and Joseph furrowed their brows.
""No way, when did Robert become a major shareholder of the Peace Group?""
""Are you sure this isn't some hoax?""
""...""
""Guys, keep it down,"" Olivia Brooks said with an embarrassed smile.
""Keep it down? With your status, you could be called Madison's top socialite without any exaggeration,"" Andrew declared, planting a firm kiss on her cheek. ""How did I ever find such a gem like you?""
""Stop it,"" Olivia blushed and lowered her head.
Charlotte Jones shot a look at Cassie and raised her voice with laughter, ""My brother's not fooling you. Just before, in our private room, we had top executives and shareholders from the Peace Group discussing a massive new project worth billions.""
Everyone erupted in excitement.
""Wow, such a huge project?""
""If we can get in on that action, we're talking billions, easy, right?""
""Hey, Miss Brooks, we've never met the higher-ups of the Peace Group. Could we get to know them and make some new friends?""
Olivia Brooks' lips curved up, ""Of course, no problem. If you don't mind, you could join us in my private room right now.""
""Let's go, Mr. Collins, and we'll come back here later.""
Before long, the once lively private room was now left with only Cassie, Laura Miller, Joseph, Sam, and Noah Collins."
