Chapter 1726 He Was Scolded by Julia
The car window slowly rolled up after he finished speaking.
The car quickly drove away.
Yosef couldn't calm down at all. He couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe that even though Julia was no longer the president of the Jude Group, she could still easily control him.
He couldn't believe that the Penrose Family would be defeated so easily. After all, the Penrose Family had been established in Whisperlyn City for over a hundred years.
However, the next moment, his phone rang. It was his secretary calling, "Mr. Penrose, something bad has happened. The news about the problem with our last investment project has been exposed, and many investors are at the company demanding their money back. Online platforms are also flooded with requests to redeem funds."
Yosef's legs went weak.
He had spent a lot of effort suppressing the issue with the last project, and many people didn't even know about it. He didn't expect Julia to quietly dig it up. If other issues were also exposed, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Moreover, the most terrifying thing was that Julia had declared that the Penrose Family couldn't escape.
He couldn't even begin to imagine the consequences.
Elliott only found out about the Penrose Family's situation during lunch with Luke.
"Luckily, we didn't ally with the Penrose Family back then," Luke sighed. "But honestly, what the Penrose Family did was terrible. They knew the investment project had problems, but still promoted it heavily. That's not just misleading people; it's maliciously making money."
Elliott was stunned. He didn't expect that after Yosef had threatened him yesterday, the Penrose Family would be in trouble today.
What a coincidence!
He thought of Julia's reaction last night.
He felt a bit powerless. His woman was too strong. While he was still thinking about how to deal with the Penrose Family, Julia had already taken action.
However, being protected by his wife didn't feel bad, especially since the Penrose Family's behavior was so repulsive.
"When Isadora recovers, don't let her come to the company again," Luke reminded. "Even if she's a good person, Mr. Penrose is too unscrupulous. He still wants to hold onto the investors' money without returning it. Why should he? That money belongs to others."
"Once money is in the pocket, who wants to take it out? The interest alone from the bank each year is substantial."
Elliott responded indifferently, "By the way, Dad, I'll be home for dinner tonight. I have something important to discuss at the dinner table."
Luke gave him a strange look and then laughed, "Is it about your girlfriend? Alright, do you want to invite her over?"
"I'll invite her tomorrow. She's been quite busy lately."
Elliott answered awkwardly.
After lunch, Elliott returned to his office, only to find Isadora sitting inside, which immediately soured his mood.
"Mr. Miller," Isadora stood up anxiously with the help of her crutch, "I'm here to ask for your help with the Penrose Family company. My father was confused; they shouldn't have threatened you."
"You've come to the wrong person," Elliott said coldly. "The trouble with your family's investment company is directly related to your father and the company's executives."
"No, it's not," Isadora explained with red eyes. "It was Julia. She met with my father this morning. Mr. Miller, my father, was truly confused. If I had known about this, I would have tried my best to stop him. But he had no choice; the company has been struggling, and there are so many employees to feed. He was trying to take a gamble."
Previously, Elliott had neither a good nor a bad impression of Isadora. Perhaps her parents had issues, but she was powerless against them.
But now, hearing her words, Elliott slammed the documents in his hand onto the table and sharply criticized, "Your father took high kickbacks from others, treated investors' money as if it were nothing, causing them to suffer repeated losses while you profited greatly. Now that something has gone wrong, you blame Julia. Is the Penrose Family always this shameless?"
Elliott's piercing gaze made Isadora's eyes tremble. "Mr. Miller, most investment companies don't operate within pure white boundaries, not even the Miller Group."
"Don't compare the Penrose Family with the Miller Group," Elliott said impatiently. "We do business, and every penny we earn is deserved. Unlike your investment company, which has no bottom line. You treat investors like fools and think you can fool Julia and me. Don't come to me for help, Isadora. People should know their limits. How valuable do you think you are? A broken leg isn't worth a billion dollars. You're insatiable."
Isadora was completely reduced to tears by his scolding, "But my feelings for you are real. If it weren't for my parents, I would have married you even if the Miller family was in trouble. I didn't expect Mr. Miller to find someone with a higher status like Julia, so naturally, you wouldn't look at me. Now, I only ask you to spare my family. Let's pretend I never saved you, and the Penrose Family won't bother you again."
Elliott's eyes narrowed, his disgust no longer concealed, "Isadora, I don't owe you anything anymore. Also, I agreed to marry you because your parents pressured me, not because I liked you. Honestly, saving someone is a good deed, but all I see from your family is self-interest. It was my bad luck to be saved by you."
With that, he called security to escort Isadora out.
"From now on, don't let Isadora come to my office again," he ordered decisively.
Isadora cried in disbelief.
If it were another man, he might have shown some pity.
But Elliott was genuinely annoyed by her.
He picked up his phone and called Julia, "Was the Penrose Family's situation your doing?"
"Yes," Julia's lazy voice came through, and she laughed, "Are you calling to plead for your savior?"
"Do I look like I have nothing better to do?" Elliott said coldly. "Isadora just came to see me. I'm glad I didn't marry her back then."
"Since she came to plead, did she mention returning the storefronts to you?" Julia asked.
"No," Elliott frowned. "I gave those two storefronts away. I don't want her to keep bringing up the fact that she saved me."
"You don't want to, but I do," Julia snorted. "Don't forget, I'm your wife now. Your assets are my assets. I have the right to reclaim them. Since they're so greedy, they shouldn't expect to get anything. Treat her saving you as a workplace injury and compensate her with a few hundred thousand dollars. It was too complicated from the start."
Elliott was scolded by Julia. What else could he do? He could only obediently admit his mistake, "I'll listen to you."
"Don't worry about this matter. If she wants to return the storefronts, she can return them to me. If she does it quickly, I might leave them some opportunities."
Julia snorted coldly.
"Alright," Elliott's eyes softened, "I'll go back to the Miller family for dinner tonight and tell my parents about us. I'll bring you to my house tomorrow."
"So soon?" Julia was surprised. She wasn't afraid of anything, but suddenly she felt a bit nervous. "Your parents probably won't accept me."
"I'll handle it."
Elliott comforted her, already having a plan in mind.
