Chapter 464
Stepping from the shower, Joseph found Joyce Ray in his room, a glass of milk in her hand. "Allow me to dry your hair, Joseph," she offered.
But Joseph recoiled as she reached out, replying curtly, "I'm fine."
Once he had finished his milk, he dismissed her with a casual wave of his hand. "You can go now. If I need anything, I'll call."
Joyce hesitated, her disappointment thinly veiled. "But... you shouldn't be alone in this state. I could set up a cot nearby..."
"There's no need," Joseph interrupted, his brow furrowed in irritation. "This is mine and my wife's bedroom; I don't like other women lingering around."
"I apologize for overstepping," Joyce mumbled, her head bobbing in flustered agreement. She exited the bedroom, biting her lip. Despite her striking resemblance to Megan Ray, Joseph showed no interest in her.
No matter. She had already achieved most of her goals.
A cold smirk crossed her face as she glanced at the empty milk glass.
Once Joyce had departed, Joseph sat on the bed and opened Cassie's WhatsApp—no messages, and her Facebook was silent as well.
That woman, storming off over a petty argument, not even bothering to respond to him.
Hadn't she promised to stay with him forever? And now she had left him all alone. How could she be so cruel?
A sudden tightness constricted his chest.
He couldn't bear to continue down that path of thought, so he quickly checked his phone. His handsome face froze when he saw the top trending item: "Joseph's wife clubbing." He clicked on the link.
There was Cassie in the kaleidoscopic bar lights, dancing wildly with Laura Miller on her left and Nina on her right. Her shirt was tied at the waist, revealing a seductive midriff and belly button. She looked devilishly enchanting.
Rage boiled within him.
How could she be so restless and reckless? Barely a day had passed, and she was already out dancing in clubs, making it public knowledge.
He wanted to lock her up at home, keep her from ensnaring anyone else.
He immediately tried to video call her on WhatsApp, only to find out she had deleted him. His calls couldn't get through either; she had clearly blocked him.
Damn it.
His anger sent his blood pressure skyrocketing.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Nathan Zenith. "Joseph, you have to back me up this time. Nina's gone rogue; she slapped me in public—man, it hurts like hell."
Annoyance flickered in Joseph's eyes, but he managed to ask, "Where did she hit you?"
"In the club," Nathan fumed. "I didn't even provoke her, but she had the nerve to insult Megan Ray. Naturally, we argued, and she hit me."
Joseph squinted. Nina was really asking for trouble.
Nathan's voice lowered to serious, "I'm not sure if I should tell you this, but your wife was with her tonight, and from what I saw, Nina seemed quite eager to please her..."
"Alright, I got it. Just send me the address of the bar, and I'll head over."
Joseph sneered inwardly. It was typical of Nina to cozy up to Cassie when she couldn't get through to him. But the way she was cunningly using his woman? He wasn't going to let her off easy.
After changing his clothes, he hurried downstairs.
"Joseph, where are you off to?" Joyce Ray asked in a hurry.
"Just out for a bit." Joseph grabbed his car keys and headed toward the garage.
Once inside the car, he noticed Joyce Ray sliding into the passenger seat. His brow furrowed, he commanded, "Get out."
"I can't do that. With your condition so unpredictable, I must accompany you," Joyce Ray said with a wry smile. "You wouldn't want to have an episode in front of everyone."
