"No. I was just thinking. Sometimes, Megan is actually quite lucky. She just doesn't know how to cherish it. Honestly, Michael cooks really well. Those steaks and tempura- the taste is amazing," Laura explained, and her mouth watered at the thought.
"So you're saying Michael isn't completely useless. Men who can cook are rare nowadays, unlike Joseph," Cassie said, feeling annoyed. "He just wants to eat the food I cook all day long. I don't want to win a man over with my cooking skills. I also want a man to cook for me one day."
"David could do that." Laura winked.
Cassie fell silent for a moment. These days, David hadn't contacted her because of her plan; she owed David too much.
Halfway through the meal, Joseph called. "I'm done with my business dinner. Where are you?"
Cassie checked the time. It was only seven o'clock. "Already?" she then inquired.
"Just had a quick meal with those bosses, then left. I had Nathaniel take them out to have fun," Joseph explained.
"Laura and I are having dinner outside. You can go back by yourself," Cassie replied lazily.
Joseph sounded displeased. "I wanted to be with you, but you only want to be with women?"
"Can't I have a life outside of work and you? I want to enjoy tasty food," Cassie retorted, then hung up, realizing how clingy Joseph seemed now.
After dinner, Cassie and Laura went to a beauty salon for facial cleansing.
On the way, Joseph kept texting Cassie: [Why do you need facial cleansing? Just wash your face at home.]
Cassie shook her head helplessly. Joseph was not very witty.
After a moment, Cassie replied: [I will, but it's not thorough. It requires professional equipment and techniques, you know?]
TrueHeartImpression: [I don't know. Can you tell me the address? I'll come and pay for it.]
Upon seeing "pay for it." Cassie sent the location to Joseph.
When Cassie and Laura arrived at the beauty salon, two beauticians came in to cleanse their faces. And the room was filled with the scent of essential oils.
There was soothing music playing in the room. Suddenly, Laura yawned, saying, "I suddenly feel so sleepy. That's not right! I slept for nine hours last night."
"I feel a little sleepy too. If you want to sleep, go ahead," Cassie answered and rubbed her eyes. As she was about to doze off, but suddenly noticed that the woman who was washing her face had a strange look in her eyes, and the scent in the air seemed... off.
Cassie abruptly sat up, knocked over the essential oils in the corner, and quickly pulled Laura up.
"What's wrong?" Laura was about to sit up when she suddenly exclaimed, "Oh my god. Why do I feel so weak all over."
The two employees turned and ran out while four rough-looking men barged in at the door.
"So, we have two beautiful ladies here, enough for us to have some fun." One of the men remarked with a thick gold chain reaching out towards Cassie's face.
Cassie tried to push him away but found her strength lacking.
"Who are you?" Laura questioned and struggled to get up, her face turning pale.
"The ones here to teach you a lesson," the man snorted and gestured, and the other three immediately rushed forward.
