Chapter 735

"When did we get so close?" Joseph was even more convinced by what Sophia said, "Liam, you already have a daughter, how old are you, don't just play around all day, be responsible for your daughter, Sophia needs you."
"But I need freedom, honestly, at first. I was quite happy to have a daughter, but after taking care of her for a few days, it was just too troublesome. I have no freedom at all, and Sophia doesn't want to sleep with Mabel, so I can only leave her to you."
Liam said and hung up the phone.
Joseph lowered his head and saw Sophia's pitiful look, "Does Liam not like me anymore?"
"No, Liam has something to do. How about staying at my place tonight?" Joseph couldn't bear to see her shed a tear; it pained him.
"I've caused you trouble." Sophia's obedient appearance made Joseph curse Liam a thousand times in his heart.
She was such a lovely child, and he found her troublesome. Did he not realize how envious he should be? Damn it.
At the seaside villa.
When Megan heard the sound of a car, she quickly touched up her makeup and happily ran out, but when she saw the little girl hanging on Joseph's shoulder, her mood soured, "Joseph, her."
"She's staying here tonight." Joseph explained, "Have Emerson make a few more dishes for the kids."
"Okay." Megan felt bad. Joseph has been indifferent towards her recently, and she wanted to please him tonight.
However, Sophia sweetly said, "Hello, Auntie Megan, you're very pretty."
"Thank you. You're very cute, too." Megan forced out a compliment.
During dinner, Joseph's phone rang. He glanced at the well-behaved Sophia and said to Megan, "Watch her for me."
With that, he took his phone and walked away to answer the call.
"Can you help me take that fish? I can't reach it." Sophia pointed to the fish with her little finger.
After Megan handed her a piece, she couldn't be bothered to look at her again. For some reason, her disgust for the child grew as she kept looking at it.
But not long after, she heard the child coughing painfully.
Just as Joseph finished the call and turned around, he saw Sophia's face turning red, looking very distressed.
He glanced at the fish in the bowl and instantly understood that a fishbone stuck to her, so he quickly poured her a glass of water.
But Sophia was still in discomfort. Emerson in the kitchen reacted quickly, giving her some vinegar to ease the situation.
"Uncle Joseph." After Sophia felt better, she hugged Joseph and started crying.
"It's okay." Joseph patted her back, and he was truly scared and relieved at that moment.
"I think maybe we shouldn't cook fish next time," Megan said with concern, "Children can easily get fish bones stuck in their throats."
Little did she know, Joseph felt a sense of dissatisfaction hearing this, "Children should eat more fish to be smart. It's because you didn't pay attention and gave her the piece with the most bones. Didn't I ask you to watch her?"
Suddenly, he remembered Cassie from the previous day. She had also cooked a fish, but she meticulously removed the bones one by one and checked carefully before feeding Sophia.
He used to think Megan was attentive, but now he realizes that although both were not mothers, Cassie was much more patient with children.
Megan, who was suddenly accused, looked puzzled, her eyes reddening, about to defend herself.
Sophia tugged at Joseph's sleeve and said, "Don't blame Auntie Megan. It's my fault."
Joseph patted her head, "I'll remove the bones for you."
Under the warm yellow light, Megan gritted her teeth, wishing she could slap Sophia.
