Chapter 1078 Cassie, Let's Meet

Cassie said, "Dad, can't you see that? No matter what I say, the reporters won't believe me, so there's no need for us to hide anything."

Aiden was taken aback. "But you can't kiss Joseph in front of them. Hasn't he hurt you enough?"

Joseph looked hurt. "Aiden."

"Don't talk to me. We're not close," Aiden said angrily.

Seeing how agitated he was, Joseph said, "I was wrong before. It's normal for you to scold me, but you can't put all the blame on me. As Cassie's Dad, you let her marry a scumbag like David, who beats her."

Aiden choked up again. He felt embarrassed but had to admit that Joseph was right. As a father, he had been a complete failure. He used to praise David all the time, not realizing that he was a jerk.

"Cassie, it's my fault. I was foolish." Aiden sighed deeply. "After this incident, I feel like there are hardly any good men in this world. I won't ask you to get married anymore. Move back home. I'll be with you and take care of you. I can't trust you to marry another man."

"Okay, Dad. I don't plan on getting married again." Cassie nodded seriously.

Joseph felt a chill in his heart. "Aiden, you can't say that. You're in your fifties. You can't always be there for Cassie. One day, you'll leave her."

"She has Sophia and Oliver," Aiden said coldly, "When I die, Sophia and Oliver will be grown up, and it's their responsibility to take care of Cassie."

"But they'll have their spouses and children. It's still more reliable to find a husband. I'm the best option," Joseph explained.

When they arrived at the Chapman Mansion, Aiden ruthlessly kicked Joseph out.

After chatting with Sophia and Oliver on a video call, Cassie checked the latest trending topics.

The interview video of her and Joseph at the hospital entrance had garnered millions of views.

[Cassie is so arrogant, even after cheating.]

[She even belittled David, how shameless.]

[What does Cassie and Joseph's conversation mean, implying David is a hypocrite?]

[Don't be fooled by Cassie; she's trying to divert attention, but we all know she won't succeed.]

[Cassie said we'll know at 8 AM tomorrow; she must have something up her sleeve to say that.]

[No matter what she reveals, we just won't believe it. After all, she's the one who betrayed the marriage. That's a fact.]

If it were three years ago, Cassie would have been angry reading these comments.

But now, she had developed much stronger emotional resilience. She was no longer someone whose emotions could be easily swayed by others.

Her phone suddenly rang. As she saw the number, a cold glint flashed in her eyes.

She pressed the answer button, and David's unusually gentle voice came through. "Cassie, let's meet."

Hearing his voice, Cassie shuddered with a wave of nausea, as if a snake had crawled over her.

That day, David had beaten her like a demon. Today, he treated her as gentle as a lover.

"You're out of jail?" she said coldly.

"Yes, the police were sympathetic to my situation, but I had a rough week in there. Cassie, I miss you," David replied meaningfully.

"Funny, I miss you, too," Cassie said softly, "But I don't dare meet you again. Who knows if you'll drug my drink or beat me again."

"Cassie, I didn't mean to. I lost control that day because I cared about you too much. Don't you want to talk about the divorce?" David sighed. I can't say too much on the phone; who knows if you're recording."

Cassie glanced at her recording phone, marveling at David's cunning.

"If you don't meet me, I won't divorce you." David smirked. "We'll be tied together forever. You'll always be my wife. Even in death, you'll be part of the Foster family."

Cassie sneered. "David, stop threatening me. Do you think I have evidence to negotiate a divorce? I did plan that, but I changed my mind. You love performing, right? I'm looking forward to seeing how people react when your true colors are revealed."

David's breathing grew heavy. "Cassie, what evidence? What did I do wrong?"

"Keep pretending, David. In fact, you don't know me as well as you think." Cassie hung up the phone.

In the car, David hung up with a sinister look.

He cursed inwardly, 'What does Cassie mean? Is she going to release the video of me and Lola? I bet she wouldn't dare. If she did, I would never divorce her in this lifetime.'

"Mr. Foster, these were found in your office," Lola said, pale-faced, holding two small surveillance devices. She was shocked that all her intimate moments with David had been recorded.

David looked at the devices and slapped her hard. "You idiot, who told you to seduce me so recklessly in the office?"

Lola felt aggrieved. Sometimes it was indeed her who initiated,, but he accepted it. If she didn't, he would go to Megan.

Lola just wanted to secure her position.

"Mr. Foster, I'm sorry," Lola apologized softly, not daring to argue.

David took a deep breath, and just then, Marcus called him. "David, your situation with Cassie is causing quite a stir."

David tensed up. "Mr. Chamberlain."

"I just want to know if Cassie has anything incriminating about you," Marcus said, "I don't want the Chamberlain family dragged into this."

"No, she just has some evidence of my infidelity," David whispered, "Mr. Chamberlain, can you help me? I don't want this to get out."
