Chapter 294

"Uncle Atlas chuckled from across the table. ""Luna, when do you and Joseph plan on getting engaged?""

As envious gazes settled on her, Luna bashfully responded, ""Either this year or the next. There’ll be no engagement; we're heading straight for marriage.""

""Looks like you two are in a hurry,"" Lilian laughed. ""Soon, we'll be calling Luna Mrs. Hernandez.""

Chapman nodded in approval. ""Hold on to Joseph tightly. The future of the Chapman family rests in your hands.""

Luna beamed, ""Grandpa, I won't let you down.""

While everyone showered Luna with compliments, Cassie was fine. She just cast a fleeting glance at Uncle Atlas across the table, whose presence in a wheelchair exuded a somewhat ominous vibe.

""Oh, by the way, you promised to help my brother with that coastal property,"" Vera suddenly inquired as though she had just remembered. ""I heard you're planning to hand it over to the Peace Group after talking with department heads.""

Cassie's fork paused mid-air as Leo frowned. ""Peace Group is Cassie's company. Your brother has developed many properties in New York and made a fortune. Let Cassie have this one; it'll help her establish a foothold in the city.""

""That's not the case; his last project was a bust. He's counting on securing that coastal property now,"" Vera responded with a rueful smile. ""He's even got the proposal ready. Chapman, help us out this time, and we can find another property to compensate Cassie later.""

Lilian nodded. ""I agree; let's help Jayden's family first. Cassie's still so young. She might be unable to control things; it's better not to have her efforts benefit someone else by mistake.""

""If Chapman doesn't want to,"" Atlas added, ""Luna, you should ask Joseph for help. It should be easy for him.""

Chapman decisively announced, ""Fine, the property goes to Clark.""

Cassie lowered her eyes, a faint trace of self-mockery flickering within. The members of the Chapman family all had similar interests.

After the dinner had concluded
With a stern face, Leo ushered Cassie and her mother, Vera, out of the grand Chapman Estate.

The ladies insisted on catching a ride home with him.

Back home, Vera and her daughter were preparing to retire upstairs when Leo suddenly addressed Cassie, ""Don't worry about the coastal property. Dad made sure his word to you stands.""

Cassie paused, taken aback.

Vera wheeled around, furious. ""Leo, you promised that land to my brother at the estate.""

""When did I ever agree to that? You all seem to be making things up as you go.""

""I don't care; Clark needs to develop that land. If you disagree, I'll have Luna talk to Joseph.""

""Everyone might be oblivious, but honestly, I don't think Joseph holds much regard for Luna."" With a scoff, Leo retreated to his bedroom.

Cassie also hurried into her room, exhausted from the night's mental warfare.

Outside, Vera, fuming, stamped her foot and turned to Luna. ""You'll go see Joseph tomorrow and have him help you.""
