Chapter 1111 She Was Nina

Lucas shot him a cold look.

Max's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly changed his tone. "If you like her, I can figure something out."

"Shut up," Lucas snapped, "I just need to ask her something."

"Really?" Max looked skeptical.

Lucas rubbed his temples. "Have you ever seen me force a woman?"

"True. With your status, women chase you," Max laughed.

Lucas didn't bother arguing. He turned and walked out. At the door, he paused and asked, "Is 'The Whispering Shadows' really that good?"

"Of course. Ms. Gray directed it. She never makes a bad film," Max said. "Even the supporting female leads are in high demand."

Lucas was silent for a moment. "Then let Bernice play the second female lead. Tell Ms. Gray to add more scenes for her."

He left before Max could respond.

Max was stunned. "Wait. Do you know the second female lead is a villain? Are you sure you're not setting Bernice up? Playing an unlikable character could ruin her image..."

But Lucas was already gone.

Max could only hope Bernice would be okay.

Meanwhile, Bernice sat in her car, not starting it. She looked at her reflection in the mirror.

It was strange.

This face wasn't originally hers. She had been in this body for two years.

No one knew she wasn't Bernice; she was Nina.

The real Nina had drowned two years ago when she jumped into the ocean.

In her final moments, she was desperate and unwilling, unable to avenge her family.

But when she opened her eyes again, her soul was in Bernice's body.

Bernice had committed suicide over a broken heart, but Nina lived on using Bernice's body.

Rebirth, something Nina had only read about, had actually happened to her.

She knew it wasn't a coincidence.

It was the necklace. The godfather had given both her and Bernice a necklace, saying they were destined for an early death, but if they wore the necklaces, one might have a chance to live.

For twenty years, Nina and Bernice had worn them.

Nina never expected the godfather's words to come true.

For the past two years, she had lived as Bernice, working hard to make money through acting, hoping to establish herself before seeking revenge.

She never expected to run into Lucas today.

Lucas was just as disgusting as he was three years ago.

He even hinted at wanting to keep Bernice as a mistress.

Thinking about how she had lost her virginity to such a man made her want to vomit.

Lucas probably had no idea Bernice was actually Nina.

Nina couldn't understand why he was still interested in her. Wasn't it enough that her family was ruined and she had died? Did Lucas still not want to let her go?

If her hatred for Megan was intense, her feelings for Lucas were pure disgust.

Given another chance, she wanted nothing to do with Lucas, so she had been avoiding him for the past two years, but she still ran into him.

Now, she just wanted to make more money, pay the penalty, and leave Dreamscape Entertainment Group.

Just as she was thinking this, her phone rang. It was Max. "Bernice, good news. Mr. Nelson said the company owes you. You can't play the lead, but you can be the second female lead."

Bernice's face stiffened. "Are you sure he wants me to play the second female lead and not just to get back at me?"

Max said, "Don't think so poorly of Mr. Nelson. Yes, the second female lead isn't very likable, but it's a test of your acting skills. Not everyone can play it. I'll talk to Ms. Gray and have her tweak your scenes to make the character less unlikable."

"Don't you know Ms. Gray hates it when actors change their scenes?" Bernice said sarcastically. "If you do that, Ms. Gray will hate me, and I'll definitely be given a hard time when I join the crew."

"So what do you want?" Max was frustrated. "Mr. Nelson means well."

"He means well?" Bernice didn't believe it. "I'm not doing it. I won't act in Ms. Gray's film."

"Bernice, don't be ungrateful," Max was also angry. "If you refuse, you'll really anger Mr. Nelson. He can blacklist you with just one word."

Max tried to persuade her, "Just do a good job, and I'll try to get you a Best Supporting Actress award by the end of the year. Nowadays, people care more about acting skills. If you don't like Sarah, you can outshine her with your acting."

Bernice could only say, after a long pause, "Fine."

She thought to herself, 'Alright! It's just a movie, and the supporting role's scenes would only take about a month.'

After leaving Dreamscape Entertainment Group, she shook off the paparazzi, switched cars, and drove to a farmhouse forty kilometers away.

She got out of the car and walked inside.

Logan Bishop came over. "Ms. Ramsey."

"Where is he?" Bernice asked.

"He's been in the cellar the whole time." Bernice took a flashlight, put on a mask, and walked straight to the cellar.

Inside the cellar was a ragged man. His clothes were so dirty that their original color was unrecognizable. He was covered in wounds, curled up in a ball, trembling.

This man was Nathan. When he saw the person with the ghastly white mask appear again, he went crazy. "Please, let me out."

He knelt on the ground. "Please!"

Nathan was on the verge of madness, having been locked up here for almost a month.

After Lucas crippled him, he had spent a week in the hospital, and Megan hadn't visited him once.

As soon as he was discharged, he was kidnapped and brought here.

During these days, Bernice had appeared from time to time, and all his injuries were inflicted by her.

"I can't let you out yet," Bernice said as she walked up to him.

"Who are you?" Nathan asked. "Did Laura send you to kidnap me, or was it Cassie?"

Bernice laughed. "If you weren't so stupid, you wouldn't be in this situation. You know too much."

"What do you mean?" Nathan shouted, "Was it Megan who ordered you?"
