Chapter 1064 Are You Going to Hit Me Again?
In the photo, a young, vibrant girl, looking about eighteen, is carrying a backpack and shyly smiling.
Cassie was stunned, as the girl looked exactly like Joyce, Megan's cousin.
Previously, Olivia had undergone plastic surgery to look like Joyce and appeared by Joseph's side to take care of him.
But Cassie could tell that Joyce, in the photo, and Olivia, who had transformed into Joyce, were not the same person. The Joyce in the photo had eyes that looked pure and innocent.
In other words, this photo was of the real Joyce.
But how did David have a photo of the real Joyce?
Moreover, the photo was dated three years before Joseph hired Joyce as a maid.
She remembered that Olivia escaped, and the real Joyce died in the fire. Because of that incident, Nina was also framed and imprisoned. When she later escaped, Nina jumped into the sea.
Cassie thought to herself, 'Could it be that David was secretly involved in that incident?'
Thinking of this, Cassie felt a chill.
When she started investigating, she found that David was even more terrifying than she had imagined.
She pondered, 'How many bad things had David done?'
Her phone suddenly rang. It was from Peter. "David is back. He's driving fast and will be at the villa in ten minutes."
Cassie quickly erased all traces from the computer and quietly exited the study.
Her heart was still pounding terribly.
She had to force herself to calm down because she couldn't let David find any clues.
Seven minutes later, she heard the sound of a car in the yard. David soon walked in and saw Cassie sitting on the sofa, playing with her phone. His eyes darkened slightly, but he said in a surprised tone, "Is the power out?"
"Yes, I was eating when the power suddenly went out," Cassie said, looking annoyed, "I called the property management, but they don't know what's going on either."
"You should have told me," David said, reaching out to touch her hair.
Cassie felt goosebumps rising all over her body. "Didn't you say you had a social event? Why are you back so soon?"
"Dinner was canceled because they had an emergency. I'd come back and stay with you instead. I didn't expect the power to be out. I'll call and ask." David sat next to her and called the property management.
The property management told David that someone accidentally knocked down the nearby power lines while playing with a drone, and it would take about an hour to restore power.
"It's going to take so long. Why don't we go out and see a movie? We missed the last one," David suggested.
"No, I'm too tired. I want to stay home and play on my phone." Cassie had no desire to go out and see a movie with him.
If it hadn't been for investigating more of the truth, she would have divorced David immediately.
She used to say Joseph was naive, but she was the same; she even married the devil, David.
An hour later, the power came back on.
Cassie was about to go upstairs to take a shower when David suddenly grabbed her and pulled her onto his lap, holding her affectionately.
"What's wrong?" Thinking of David and Lola's disgusting behavior, she felt like vomiting, but she had to endure it to avoid him noticing anything.
"Cassie, how much longer are you going to make me wait?" David tilted his head to kiss her face.
Cassie couldn't stand it and turned her head to avoid him.
David's face darkened. Seeing his expression, Cassie felt a flash of fear and quickly tried to get out of his arms, but David held her tightly and wouldn't let go.
"I can't even kiss you?" David said angrily.
These days, he had been holding back, but after hitting her last time, he found it increasingly hard to control his anger, as Cassie would rather let Joseph touch her than him.
"Are you going to hit me again?" Cassie instinctively covered her face, feeling terrified.
David was stunned, then quickly hugged her tightly. "No, I won't hit you again. I love you too much, Cassie. I want you."
Cassie was speechless at his urgent need.
She said to herself inwardly, 'The surveillance is 24/7. Spencer told me you have sex with Lola in the office every day, yet you still aren't satisfied. Come on! David, why are you so disgusting?'
"David, give me some more time." She vaguely delayed.
"Every time you ask for more time. How much longer?" David pleaded, "I'll give you a deadline. This Sunday night, I don't want to wait any longer."
Cassie widened her eyes, at a loss for words.
"Go take a shower," David said, letting her go.
After Cassie went upstairs, David turned and went to the study. He checked the room and found no signs of tampering. But when he turned on the computer, he noticed that the battery had dropped from 30% to 25% since he left in the morning.
His face suddenly changed.
Moments later, he made a call, "Find out whose drone knocked down the nearby power lines."
The next day, Cassie walked into the office, feeling slightly tired.
Last night, her mind was filled with David's words and the things on his computer, and she stayed up all night.
Soon, Peter and Spencer arrived. Seeing her pale face, Spencer asked worriedly, "Did you find something?"
"Yes," Cassie told them her suspicions.
Peter and Spencer were not familiar with the events of three years ago, but after hearing her out, their faces turned serious.
"I don't think you should stay with him any longer," Peter said first, "David is too deeply hidden. You found some clues on his computer yesterday but no concrete evidence of his crimes, which shows how cautious he is. You and he are both acting, but if he realizes you're investigating him, he'll definitely do something terrible."
Spencer nodded. "I agree with Peter. Besides, David has a hitman from Neya City. We don't know his background, but he knows everything about us. If we confront him head-on, we're no match for him."
Cassie frowned in frustration.
If it were before, she would have continued investigating, but David's words last night made her realize that his patience with her was slowly running out.
