Chapter 1150 Four Months Pregnant
"Mr. James Jude, why are you here? Shouldn't Mr. Carl Jude address Ms. Miller's bullying?"
"Is Laura planning to apologize? But will that fix anything? The Hayes Group's stock has been tanking because of her."
"I heard Ms. Miller used to date Mr. Hayes from the Hayes Group. After they broke up, she saw him with a new girlfriend and got mad. She threatened to go after the Hayes Group if he didn't dump his new girlfriend."
"I also heard Ms. Jude threatened the Hayes Group and the Tarro family. Is that true?"
"The Jude family has to apologize for this, right?"
"And didn't the Jude family kick Michael out a while ago? How's he back so soon?"
Reporters, bribed by Carl's competitor Craig Campbell, bombarded James with questions.
James stayed calm the whole time.
After more than ten minutes, the reporters' voices were hoarse. One finally snapped, "Why aren't you answering? Feeling guilty?"
"Have you given us a chance to answer?" James's sharp look made the reporters shiver.
"I called this press conference because this issue has spiraled out of control and caused trouble for the Jude family," James said calmly. "I'm here to bring Laura and Michael to apologize."
"So you're admitting the Jude family is bullying others?" The reporters went wild.
"Hitting someone is wrong," James frowned. "But anyone would be mad if they saw their four-month-pregnant wife getting slapped."
The reporters were shocked. "Wait, Ms. Miller is pregnant? When did Michael become her husband?"
James nodded at Michael, who stepped forward. "Everyone knows about at Ocean Blue Group's press conference where Laura and I, due to a setup, ended up together. I recently found out she got pregnant from that night. I've broken up with Megan, and Laura is now my wife. Yesterday, I saw Benjamin slap her. I lost it because she's four months pregnant. She almost miscarried before, and we've been very careful. I didn't expect this. I'm sorry."
Michael bowed deeply and continued, "As for hitting Isla, I did. She was in front of Benjamin, and I lost control."
The reporters were stunned. No one expected Laura to be pregnant.
"That can't be true. Laura doesn't look four months pregnant," one reporter challenged.
"Here are the prenatal check-up records and related tests. Laura has been going for her check-ups on time every month." Michael projected the records onto the screen behind him. "If your four-month-pregnant wife was being hit, what would you do? I admit I was impulsive, but in that moment, I lost all rationality."
A reporter chimed in, "From what we know, Ms. Miller went after the Hayes Group first. Otherwise, Isla wouldn't have confronted her. Isla was begging, and Ms. Miller seemed indifferent and arrogant."
Laura frowned. "You must've seen the video. I didn't touch Isla. She just showed up, begging. I was confused. We're not close, and we don't get along. Why should I care about her? Her voice made me nauseous, so I tried to leave, but she kept holding onto me."
"That's harsh," a reporter criticized.
"Do I have to pretend to like Isla? Sorry, I don't. When I was dating Benjamin, Isla was always around, pretending to be his sister. Have you ever gone shopping, watched movies, or had dates with your boyfriend while another woman was always there? I broke up with Benjamin because I couldn't stand it. Many employees at the Hayes Group in Silverwood saw this. Isla was always with him. Sorry, but I'm not that generous. I really dislike Isla."
"So you targeted the Hayes Group because you dislike Isla?" a reporter asked sharply.
James picked up a report. "We checked with the regulatory authorities. Several popular Hayes Group products contain acrylamide. The levels exceeded international standards, and the sugar content was too high. If you don't believe it, look at this test report. The issue escalated, and the Hayes Group was ordered to fix it and stop production. But they were eager to open a branch in Whisperlyn City. Benjamin couldn't handle the crisis, so he falsely accused Laura of targeting him to get her help."
The reporters exchanged glances.
James's gaze swept over them. "Michael was wrong, and the Jude family will apologize. But where did the rumors about Laura bullying others come from? We'll take legal action against anyone defaming the Jude family's reputation. This press conference is over."
James turned off the microphone and left with Michael and Laura.
The press conference was broadcast live.
People online were buzzing:
[Oh my God, Laura is four months pregnant. You can't even tell; she still looks so beautiful.]
[That's not the point. The point is, did Laura really not target the Hayes Group?]
[Didn't you see the regulatory authorities issue an urgent clarification? And the Hayes Group's cookies do have problems. We should stop buying them.]
[I used to work at the Hayes Group. Benjamin and Isla's relationship is as Laura described. Everyone knew he was dating Laura, but Benjamin and Isla would arrive and leave work together every day. Many new employees thought they were dating.]
[Not just arriving and leaving work. I often saw Benjamin shopping with Isla, and I always wondered if Laura would mind.]
