Chapter 667
"...Nothing, just take your pills quickly. Once you're done, I'll leave." he explained.
Joseph also knew that he was a jerk now, but Megan had been waiting for him for over a decade, so he couldn't let her down again.
"Okay, I'll eat now." She turned around excitedly, opening the contraceptive pills and stuffing them into her mouth. After swallowing, she threw the pack at his face. Choking and gasping, she shouted, "Can you leave now?"
She pushed him out forcefully, slamming the door.
Joseph stood at the door for a long time, then turned away dejectedly.
He didn't know that shortly after he left, Sie had already wiped away her tears and started preparing dinner.
After all, pretending to cry for a scumbag still drained her energy.
After a satisfying meal, Laura called her from Austin. "How's the progress with the plan?"
"It's alright. I’m taking it one step by step, but I feel like I’ve been pushing it too hard recently. Megan needs to take action, and Atlas and Luna have been too calm lately."
She poured a glass of yogurt, adding some fruits vigorously. After stirring with a spoon, she was ready to enjoy it.
Laura sighed, “It's still worrying that you are alone abroad.'"
"Spencer is also there." Sie replied.
"Yes, there are also David, Billy and Liam; so many friends will protect you." Laura chuckled softly, then whispered, "The Ocean Blue group sent me a job offer; they offered two billion dollars for me to develop an anti-aging product for them."
Sie smirked playfully, "Well, that would be interesting. Imagine if they found out that the Global Dark Horse Formulator which rising in the international formulation world now was actually you, the one they once banned and smeared, their expressions would be interesting."
"I've been looking forward to this day for a long time," Laura said, feeling good.
"Are you ready to come back?" Sie asked.
"No, I plan to attend a presentation in the SE company located in the Madison area. I will come back at the end of the month. Do you need me to bring Sophia and Oliver back? They really miss you," Laura said.
"Alright, I also miss them, but I can't take them along. Let's just say they are your brother's kids."
"Okay."
Around 8.00 p.m., after Joseph returned to the mansion, Megan had not come back yet.
He made a phone call, but Megan said she was out shopping with friends.
It was past 11.00 p.m. when he was working on the study; he suddenly received Michael’s call.
"Joseph, come over quickly. Megan got drunk, and I need you to come pick her up."
"Isn't she out shopping?" Joseph frowned.
Michael sounded annoyed as he said, "She was worried that you might be in a bad mood, so she went out with Evelyn and the others for drinks. I have no idea how much they drank. It was actually Evelyn who called me, and that's when I managed to get in touch with you."
"Okay, I'll be right there." Joseph answered.
Joseph quickly arrived at the bar where Evelyn, Michael, and Athena were already there. Megan was lying drunk on the sofa, holding a bottle of whiskey in her hand, continuously pouring alcohol into her mouth. She was already completely drunk.
"What's going on?" Joseph's indifferent gaze swept across the faces of Evelyn and Athena.
Evelyn was at a loss and said, "I'm not sure either. Anyway, she said she was feeling down, asking me out for drinks. As we were drinking, she got drunk and kept crying."
"Joseph, what's going on?" Michael pulled Joseph aside. "I've never seen Megan in such pain before. She's already been through so much without her parents; we're all she has. If you do anything to hurt her, I won't let you go."
