Chapter 116
""Hey, sis, can you help me design a cinema?""
Before long, Cassie was inundated with requests for her design expertise, but she didn't take on the projects—instead, she simply posted her company's address.
Mason Stone became an overnight phenomenon, and clients started flooding in. Billy Stone was grinning from ear to ear, and quickly called Cassie in to give her a hefty pay raise. ""Thanks to you, we've landed some multimillion-dollar projects. Incredible counterattack—you turned yourself into an internet sensation. Right now, you're the most famous in the country.""
""It's all thanks to my mentor's kindness for taking me in,"" Cassie replied with a twinkling smile.

The Brooks family.
Olivia Brooks was practically fuming with rage.
She was inundated with thousands of hate messages, and even the Height Company's official website bore the brunt of the backlash—it was ripped to shreds. The socialites who used to be in her inner circle were now keeping their distance.
At this rate, she worried if any high society man would ever consider her.
Helen was frantic but didn't dare lash out at her daughter, reserving her anger for Robert instead. ""This was all your lousy idea, and look where it's gotten our daughter.""
""Who would have thought such a simple villa would be under surveillance?"" Robert was livid. Any tolerance he had for Cassie had vanished; he was now itching for retribution.
Just as he finished, Alexander burst in, panicked. ""Aunt, uncle, this is bad—the Lublin Hotel is on fire.""
Robert's face went sheet-white. The Lublin Hotel was a five-star establishment undergoing renovations by Height Company, with over fifty million dollars already sunk into the refurbishment. ""What in the world happened? How's the situation now? Is the fire out?"" he demanded.
""The flames are doused, but three floors got torched, and the Anderson family is on alert now,"" Alexander murmured vaguely, his words slippery and his demeanor evasive. Then, in a sudden decisive move, he fell to his knees. ""Uncle, the Andersons will send an investigation team. I think they may find the wiring was substandard.""
""What did you just say?"" Robert's trembling finger pointed at him. ""Which company did you source the wiring from?""
""It was a vendor Ben recommended. He kicked back a few million, remember that high-end wine set I gifted you last month? That's where the money came from...""
With a swift motion, Robert slapped Alexander across the face. ""Haven't you made enough over the years? So much that you're now skimming off the top? Have you lost your mind?""
""Uncle, you've got to save me."" Alexander clutched at Robert's clothes desperately. ""I was only trying to show my respect and care for you and Aunt Carol.""
""How am I supposed to save you? The Andersons are the second most powerful family in Madison, right behind the Collinses. If they pursue this, we can't even begin to imagine the consequences,"" Robert said as he shook Alexander off.
Olivia Brooks sighed. ""Cousin, how could you be so careless? I thought Cassie was overseeing the project initially. How come she didn't stop you?""
Helen's eyes flashed with a sudden idea. ""I've been looking for a way to teach Cassie a lesson, and now's the perfect opportunity. We can pin the whole fiasco on her. It's only when she's behind bars that our Brooks family can finally breathe easy. Plus, once this scandal blows up, everyone will know she's the type who'd do anything for money. No one will blame us for what happened at the banquet tonight.""
Robert paused, a lightbulb going off in his head. This indeed could be a solution; he had been worried about diverting public attention. ""Alright, then let's roll with it. The hotel fire has nothing to do with you; Cassie was in charge and her embezzlement is what led to this disaster.""
Olivia Brooks still seemed worried. ""Dad, I've heard that David has taken a liking to Cassie. What if he steps in to help her?""
""Don't worry,"" Robert scoffed. ""The Andersons don't play games. Once they decide to teach someone a lesson, no one can save that person.""

To celebrate the company's soaring profits, Billy Stone had arranged for a dinner and karaoke outing with his colleagues."
