Chapter 1380 I Fell in Love at First Sight
Benjamin was totally floored.
Dude was way too worked up.
Honestly, he shouldn't have even bothered pleading just now.
Made it look like he was all hung up on Isla, even though she was the reason things went south with Laura.
"Stop begging for Isla; she's already bailed," Michael sneered.
That's when Benjamin realized Isla had ghosted.
Heart shattered, man.
He'd totally misread Laura and blew it with his first love, all for someone like Isla.
And just a minute ago, he was still thinking about helping Isla, even if it meant breaking up with her.
"Scram," Michael stood in front of Laura, eyes full of disdain.
Benjamin didn't have the guts to stick around. He turned and stumbled away.
The crowd finally started to break up.
Lily, all curious, asked, "Is Isla really in on it with Olivia? Shouldn't you call the cops and get her arrested?"
"I was just messing with her. After Olivia got nailed, the cops already checked out Isla. Olivia hit her up first when she got back, but Isla wasn't in on the scam. Otherwise, she'd be locked up by now."
Michael sneered, looking at Laura, "Didn't think Benjamin was that dumb, coming over to beg for Isla."
Laura kept quiet, but Lily chimed in, "He's always been a fool. Now that Isla made a scene with him here, good luck finding a decent match in Silverwood."
After lunch, Laura did some shopping before deciding to head home.
Once in the car, Laura kicked off her high heels.
She hadn't worn heels much during her pregnancy, and now her feet were killing her.
Beauty's got its price, right?
Michael was driving, sneaking glances at Laura through the rearview mirror. Seeing her rub her feet, he thought, "Women, man. They wear heels even when they hurt."
Serves 'em right.
Of course, he wouldn't dare say that out loud, fearing Laura would rip him a new one.
"What are you staring at?" Laura caught him peeking. "And why'd you run over there just now?"
"I was backing you up," Michael said with a chuckle. "Benjamin and Isla hurt you before, so I wanted to spook them a bit."
"It's all ancient history," Laura said, genuinely over it.
Since having her kid, Laura's world revolved around the baby.
The past just didn't seem to matter anymore.
Michael was surprised, then grinned, "It's not that big a deal anymore 'cause you got me and Maeve now."
Laura shot him a cold look, "Get it straight. I'm planning to divorce you."
"As long as I don't sign, we're not divorced," Michael said, unfazed.
Laura was fuming at his shamelessness.
When they rolled up to the Miller family's villa, Laura saw that all the clothes, shoes, and bling she bought that morning had been delivered, filling up the whole living room.
Rose pointed at the mountain of stuff and griped, "Look at you, shopping like there's no tomorrow. The house is bursting at the seams, and you're not even planning to stick around Silverwood. What a waste of cash. Even if you got money, you shouldn't blow it like this."
Laura was floored; she hadn't realized she went that overboard.
Michael jumped in, "It's not Laura's fault. I bought all this for her. Didn't think it through. I'll see if there's an empty villa nearby and buy it to stash Laura's stuff."
Rose was stunned. Buy a villa just to store things?
Guess she didn't get the life of the filthy rich.
"No need."
"It's cool. Laura's my wife. I'm happy to drop cash on her. It's just a villa; no biggie," Michael said like it was nothing.
Rose was speechless.
Laura frowned. She didn't really want to spend Michael's money.
But since he already paid for all this stuff, it seemed too late to back off now.
Whatever, they had a kid together anyway. She could just pass everything to Maeve later.
Laura headed upstairs to find Maeve.
It was the first time Laura had left Maeve for a whole morning, and she really missed her.
Even though Maeve loved that big jerk Michael more, Maeve was still Laura's baby.
Maeve was snoozing in her room. Seeing her cute little face, Laura's heart melted.
Watching Maeve, Laura dozed off from exhaustion.
When Laura woke up, she felt something pawing at her foot.
Groggily opening her eyes, she saw Michael sitting at the foot of the bed, gently massaging her foot.
Laura blushed instantly.
This jerk, did he have to be so shameless?
She angrily kicked him in the face, and the unprepared Michael hit the floor with a thud.
Well, Laura didn't expect Michael to go down so easily.
Laura was speechless for a moment, then saw Michael clumsily and resentfully get up, his eyes filled with anger but not daring to show it, finally turning into a look of grievance as he glared at her.
"What are you looking at? You are such a perv." Laura glared back.
"What?" Michael almost choked, "I saw your feet hurt from shopping, so I was massaging them for you. I've never even massaged my parents' feet. You're the first, and you kicked me."
Laura was taken aback.
Now that he mentioned it, she realized her sore feet felt much better.
It was unexpected of Michael to be so good. It was all too unbelievable. She might have misunderstood him.
"If you don't tell me, how would I know?" She felt guilty but didn't want to apologize, "When I woke up, I saw you touching my feet. I thought you were lusting after them. After all, my feet are so beautiful."
"You..."
Michael instinctively wanted to retort, but he hesitated and said flatteringly, "Honey, you're absolutely right. Your feet are beautiful."
"Shut up," Laura said, embarrassed.
"Anyway, I fell for those feet right away," Michael continued.
