Chapter 1291 You just want to get rid of me as soon as possible.
Cassie was super shy.
She was cursing Joseph a million times in her head.
First, Joseph was all about divorcing her for Megan. Then, he wanted to patch things up with Cassie. Now that they were back together, Cassie felt like she was the bad guy.
Who made her like this?
Wasn't she once a sweet and innocent girl?
Now Joseph had the nerve to call her a perv. When he wanted to kiss Cassie before, why didn't he call himself a perv?
Even though she knew he was acting dumb and it wasn't really his fault, Cassie still felt hurt and pissed.
"Is that so." She bit her lip and said softly, "Then I won't look at you anymore. Thinking about it, it's really not appropriate. If you can't dress yourself in the future, go find your dad."
Joseph blinked, a bit unwilling, "I don't want to find my dad, I just want to find you."
"Why not? If I look at your body, I'm a perv." Cassie said.
"Then I like you being a perv." Joseph replied.
Joseph leaned close to her ear, his breath hot enough to ignite someone.
Cassie's mouth twitched. Was she being teased now?
She closed her eyes and simply ignored him.
"Cassie." Joseph saw she wasn't speaking and tugged at her sleeve, "Say something."
Cassie had a headache. If she didn't make things clear tonight, it seemed it wouldn't end. She mainly feared waking up Oliver and Sophia.
Cassie said directly, "When I kissed you and took off your clothes, weren't you happy? Now, you accuse me of being a perv. Why don't you say it about yourself?"
Joseph didn't understand many things she said, but he felt Cassie seemed angry.
It was the first time he saw her so serious and cold. Joseph was a bit scared.
Tears welled up in his eyes, and he said aggrievedly, "I didn't accuse you. Don't be angry. I'm sorry. I won't talk nonsense anymore."
Seeing him like this, Cassie felt heartbroken and knew her words were too aggressive.
She wasn't really angry, just feeling wronged.
These days, although his confused and shy look sometimes made her laugh, she still felt sad to see him like this.
She wondered, 'Does he kiss me because he loved me?'
Definitely not. Probably because she was the only young woman around him.
Cassie had been thinking about whether to make love with him, but now she hesitated.
"I'm not angry." Cassie shook her head, "I'm just thinking about what our relationship is, Joey. Who do you think I am to you?"
Joseph thought seriously for a while, then stammered, "You are an elder, the person I like."
Cassie smiled sadly, "Joseph, I'm not your elder. Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I told you. Go to sleep."
She turned to face the window.
She blamed herself in her heart. Why did she ask those questions? She knew he was like a child now, impossible to love her, at most just like her.
Joseph looked at her, feeling something pulling at his heart, making him uneasy.
Why did he feel Cassie was upset? Did he say something wrong?
Joseph couldn't sleep a wink.
When he finally dragged himself out of bed in the morning, he looked like a zombie.
Cassie was already up and about, getting Oliver and Sophia ready for the day. Joseph trailed behind her, "Cassie, I wanna wash up too."
"Do it yourself," Cassie said, squeezing some toothpaste onto his brush. Her tone was firm, "You can't rely on me forever. You gotta learn to do things on your own."
Seeing her serious face, Joseph reluctantly took the toothbrush.
Oliver and Sophia scarfed down their breakfast and headed off to school. Joseph sat there, poking at his food with a sulky expression.
Cassie said, "I found three teachers for you. After breakfast, they'll start teaching you."
Mabel chimed in, "Isn't that too many classes?"
"His learning ability is way better than most people. The knowledge is probably still in his brain somewhere. The teachers might help bring it out. It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, we'll change the plan."
Cassie was dead serious, "He can't grow up and learn step by step like Oliver. If we go that slow, he might not catch up until he's forty or fifty."
Mabel went quiet. Cassie had a point.
"I don't want to," Joseph suddenly frowned, looking super resistant, "I don't want strangers teaching me. I want Cassie to teach me."
"I don't know everything, and I'm not a pro," Cassie said, exasperated, "Look, Oliver and Sophia go to school and make friends. You should meet more people too. You can't just stay in our little bubble."
"Then I won't learn. I don't want anyone else teaching me," Joseph's eyes started to water, "You think I don't know? You're mad at me, you hate me, you just wanna get rid of me."
He threw his spoon down and stormed upstairs.
Mabel and Cameron exchanged awkward glances. Cameron had been staying over because of Joseph's condition, but it was clear his son didn't need him.
"Ahem," Cameron cleared his throat, trying to sound calm, "Cassie, if you have things to do, go ahead. You and Joseph aren't married. He ended up like this, and you don't have to be responsible forever. Honestly, I think you've done more than enough."
"Yeah," Mabel agreed, "He's not your responsibility."
Cassie gripped her fork, knowing they misunderstood her. They probably thought she was fed up with taking care of Joseph.
"Actually, I barely slept last night, just thinking about my future with Joseph."
Cassie said, "Joseph relies on me now, but every baby relies on their caregiver the most. His mind will grow. He doesn't remember our past. Maybe in the future, he'll become a different Joseph."
Cassie added, "He doesn't get much now, but he'll learn more. He used to love me, but what about in the future? Will his feelings for me be love or just dependence? You're right, we're not married, and he doesn't have to be responsible for me. I don't want to become his responsibility just because of our past."
