Chapter 1087 Cassie, My Darling
"Alright, stop talking. I will prioritize Sophia and Oliver from now on. Don't worry. Leaving them with you is just temporary. Once David is in jail, I'll take them back." Cassie felt increasingly ashamed by his words.
She felt like she had been an irresponsible mother lately.
"That's good." Joseph nodded, paused, and then added seriously, "Don't forget to take me with you when the time comes."
Cassie rolled her eyes at him.
"Give me the clothes." Joseph took her clothes directly.
Cassie suddenly realized that her intimate garments were inside.
Her face turned blushed, and she quickly said, "Never mind. I'll hang them myself."
"No, you shouldn't go out looking like this." Joseph glanced ambiguously at her breast.
Cassie immediately froze.
In the evening, when Sophia and Oliver found out Cassie was staying, they were overjoyed.
Cassie told Sophia and Oliver a story until they fell asleep, then she lay down to rest herself.
After a tiring day, even though she was in an unfamiliar place, the scent of Sophia and Oliver quickly made her sleepy.
She was half-asleep when she felt the bed sink beside her, and then Joseph's warm embrace wrapped around her from behind.
Cassie, still sleepy, turned over, and her arm seemed to rest on Joseph's waist.
Then She suddenly opened her eyes.
Moonlight streamed in from the window, and Joseph's deep eyes were staring straight at her, filled with affection and an unknown glimmer.
"Cassie," his beautiful thin lips whispered hoarsely.
Cassie instantly lost all sleepiness. If it weren't for Sophia and Oliver being next to her, she would have jumped up and kicked him.
But now she could only restrain herself and ask through gritted teeth, "Who told you to be here?"
"Didn't you say you were willing to get back together with me?" Joseph blinked his thick eyelashes innocently.
Cassie was momentarily dazed by his long, thick eyelashes.
As those thick eyelashes got closer, so did Joseph's breath.
Just as he was about to kiss her, Cassie covered his mouth and asked through gritted teeth, "No, I didn't."
Joseph didn't speak, his eyes full of affection, and his large hands held her waist.
"Joseph." Cassie kicked him.
The commotion in the bed made Sophia turn over and place her hand on Cassie's arm.
Afraid of waking Sophia, Cassie didn't dare to move.
Joseph removed Cassie's hand and said softly, "How can I talk if you cover my mouth? Cassie, I understand that you don't want to remarry me because you have trauma from marriage. I won't force you. Let's date first. No matter how many years it takes, I'll be with you. When you want to get married, we'll get married."
Cassie was at a loss for words. She couldn't raise her voice, so she whispered angrily, "Do you believe everything Sophia says? Get off."
"I won't." Joseph stubbornly held her waist.
"Get off."
"I won't." Joseph then boldly lowered his head and kissed her lips.
Cassie was so angry at his shamelessness.
Her eyes rolled, and she suddenly reached out to hook Joseph's neck.
Joseph trembled all over, his heart racing with excitement, and he whispered, "Cassie, my darling."
"Don't talk." Cassie tilted her head and kissed him back.
Joseph felt like a young boy, trembling all over.
Just as he was feeling as sweet as honey, he was ruthlessly kicked off the bed onto the carpet.
"Mommy, what was that noise?" Oliver woke up, but Sophia was still sound asleep.
"Nothing, I just dropped some trash on the floor. Go back to sleep." Cassie gently patted Oliver.
Oliver mumbled a response and fell back asleep.
Joseph got up, looking frustrated and annoyed, and glared at Cassie. "Am I trash?"
"Serves you right. I told you to get off, and you didn't," Cassie said righteously.
Joseph stared at her. She was wearing a silk nightgown, and because she was lying on her side, a patch of skin below her collarbone was exposed without her realizing it.
His Adam's apple bobbed, and he made up his mind that he wouldn't leave tonight, even if it killed him.
"Are you leaving or not?" Cassie said irritably.
"I'm not leaving." Joseph shook his head. "Wherever you sleep, I'll sleep."
"Suit yourself, but don't think about getting on the bed. You can sleep on the floor," Cassie said.
"Fine, as long as I'm in the same room with you, I'll sleep anywhere." Joseph lay down on the floor.
Cassie was really helpless.
It was autumn now. Although it was hot during the day, lying on the floor without a blanket at night was easy to catch a cold.
"Cassie, go to sleep. Don't worry about me. I'm healthy and won't catch a cold." Joseph smiled at her.
Cassie choked on her words. "You're overthinking it. I never intended to care about you. Do as you please."
She pulled up the blanket and ignored him.
Cassie felt even more tired after his antics.
Soon, she fell asleep again.
The next day, Cassie was woken up by Sophia's scream. "Daddy, why are you sleeping on the floor? So pitiful. When did you come in? Why didn't you sleep in your bed?"
"I didn't want to sleep alone." Joseph sat up and shivered. He hadn't expected it to be so cold last night.
Oliver said mercilessly, "Childish."
Joseph didn't mind. "Oliver, you'll understand one day. A man in love is always a child."
Sophia said, "So gross, Mommy."
"Yeah." Cassie agreed.
Joseph got up, feeling wronged. Just as he was about to speak, a sudden itch in his nose made him sneeze twice.
"Daddy, did you catch a cold?" Sophia asked sympathetically.
"Don't infect Sophia and Oliver." Cassie thought he deserved it.
"Okay, I'll go out right away." Joseph was really hurt.
He covered his nose and walked out. As he left, he ran into Mabel.
Mabel gave him an ambiguous look. "Wow, impressive. You managed to sleep with Cassie so quickly."
Joseph didn't know how to respond. Mabel really overestimated him. He had spent the night on the floor.
