Chapter 998 Sophia Had A Fever
Megan suddenly touched her belly and said, "I'm pregnant with Michael's baby. Sure, Michael got kicked out of the Jude family, but this kid is still a Jude. Eventually, when things cool down, the family will take the child back."
David's eyes narrowed. "Megan, you're really something."
"Aren't we a perfect pair? Besides, don't you want to sleep with Joseph's ex?" Megan leaned in and nibbled his earlobe.
David stiffened, then pushed her down with a sneer. "You're just a woman Joseph tossed aside. He never even slept with you."
Megan's face tightened, but she forced a smile. "You can't say that. He liked me when we were young. If it weren't for Cassie, Joseph and I would be together. Plus, I have a secret."
"What secret?" David raised an eyebrow.
"Do you know why Joseph broke up with Cassie three years ago? I hypnotized him. Mr. Foster, I'm pretty good at controlling minds." Megan smiled and wrapped her arm around his neck. "From the moment we met, I knew you were special. The current Marcus is probably the future you."
A spark lit up in David's dark eyes.
'No wonder Joseph dumped Cassie out of the blue three years ago,' he thought. 'Megan could be useful. Why not give Joseph's ex a try?'
"Alright, I'll help you." David pinched her chin and kissed her, a hint of frustration in his touch.
Laura stayed in the hospital for three days before being discharged.
But instead of going to Riverside Blossom, she was taken to the Jude family's villa.
Cassie had planned to move in with David and Oliver, but Oliver wanted to stay with Aiden, so she moved alone.
"This is Mr. Foster's bedroom," Lola said, helping Cassie with her luggage.
"Thanks." Cassie looked around the room. It was clean and bright with a great view, but the thought of sharing it with David made her uneasy.
"You're welcome. If you need anything, just let me know." As Lola turned to leave, she glanced mockingly at the big bed.
She had spent a lot of time there, but Cassie wouldn't know that.
After Lola left, Cassie started cooking.
From now on, this was her and David's real married life.
At 6:30 PM, David came home. Seeing Cassie busy in the kitchen, his eyes filled with regret and frustration.
He had finally brought Cassie in, but now he couldn't sleep with her.
He had people looking for Cameron, but there was no news.
For now, he had Lola and Megan to satisfy his needs.
Especially Megan, who was full of surprises in bed.
"David, dinner's ready. What are you thinking about?" Cassie smiled, bringing out the dishes.
"I feel so happy." David held her hand. "I've waited too long for today."
"David, you've worked hard all these years. I'm committed to making this marriage work," Cassie said with determination.
"Alright," David said, lowering his eyes.
At 9 PM, Cassie was in the bathroom, nervously thinking about what might happen next with David. She figured that once she took the first step, it might not be so hard.
She couldn't hold onto Joseph forever. Gritting her teeth, she walked out.
But David was holding a blanket, ready to leave.
"Cassie, I don't think you're ready yet. I want to give you more time," David said with a smile. "Besides, I've got a lot of work to catch up on. I'll sleep in the next room for now."
Cassie was moved to tears. "David, I can actually do it."
"Don't force yourself. I don't want to push you," David interrupted.
Cassie felt deeply touched and guilty for doubting him.
Not long after David went to the next room, Sophia called, crying, "Cassie, I feel so sick. I miss you."
"Sophia, what's wrong?" Cassie asked, panic rising.
"I have a headache and a fever. I miss you." Sophia sobbed.
Cassie's heart broke. "Where are you? I'll come right away."
"I'm at the hospital," Sophia replied.
Cassie became even more anxious. She quickly went to the next room to tell David she had to go to the company for something.
She didn't dare mention Sophia, fearing David would mind her being too close to the Hernandez family.
At the hospital, after Sophia stopped crying and registered, she turned to Lucas. "Lucas, you promised me candy."
Lucas was stunned for a moment, then handed her a lollipop from the drawer. He turned to Joseph and said, "Sophia's acting is incredible."
Joseph lifted his eyelids. "Did you talk to the doctor?"
"Don't worry. Everything's covered. You guys go ahead," Lucas said, shaking his head. They had gone to great lengths to get Cassie here tonight.
When Cassie arrived at the hospital, Sophia, who had just finished her lollipop, was asleep in Joseph's arms.
They were sitting on the hospital chairs, and Sophia looked so peaceful and endearing.
Cassie felt a wave of sadness. Sophia used to be so delicate and would cry when she was sick, but now she couldn't be with her immediately.
"Sophia," she said, her eyes turning red.
Seeing this, Joseph felt a pang of guilt. He hadn't expected Cassie to care so much about Sophia.
"Sophia is asleep," Joseph said. "She had a fever earlier, but after some medicine, she's much better. She kept crying, saying she missed you. I'm sorry for disturbing you."
"Why did she get a fever out of nowhere?" Cassie asked, her eyes red. She wanted to take Sophia back with her. She could only be at ease if she took care of Sophia herself.
"Sophia kicked off her blanket at night," Joseph said, making up a reason.
"Where was the nanny? Didn't she help her cover up?" Cassie asked angrily.
