Chapter 636

One of the board members scanned the room before sinking to his knees. " Cassie, please, offer us shareholders some mercy. We are old and merely seek a steady stream of dividends to sustain us in our twilight years. "We promise to heed your counsel henceforth," he added, his voice trembling with desperation. "Let's both make concessions for the sake of harmony," he proposed, his eyes pleading for understanding. Cassie rubbed her temples, a clear sign of the stress she was under. The directors were now employing a more conciliatory approach, making the situation even more challenging. "Only yesterday, you were showering Megan with gifts," Cassie pointed out, her voice laced with disappointment. "And at your age, don't you tire of making daily pilgrimages to Megan's residence? I've yet to hear you championing the company's cause. Instead, you seem to spend most of your time maligning me in Megan's presence." "And Edward," Cassie continued, his gaze hardening, "now that I've assumed office, why do you feel the need to report every trivial matter to Joseph? The rest of you are preoccupied with booking private rooms for Megan and her friends to wine and dine. Aren't you perturbed by the fortune you're squandering?" As Cassie called them out one by one, their faces flushed crimson, resembling pig's liver. None of them had anticipated that Cassie would have such a comprehensive understanding of their actions. "The reason I dismissed you all is because your loyalty no longer lies here. You're solely focused on gaining favor with Megan and Joseph, believing that their support will elevate your status," Cassie declared, her tone solemn. "In your eyes, I've lost my authority. You behave one way in my presence and another behind my back. In this company, I don't want to hear discordant voices. I only want to hear my own voice. From today onwards, Peace Group has no ties with any of you. Security, escort them out. They are not allowed back in."
The security personnel promptly carried out Cassie's orders, ushering the shareholders out of the office. Once the room was emptied, Carter Harrison sighed. " Cassie, you are becoming more and more like a CEO. You are even surpassing your mother. I admit, I'm no match for you." "Uncle Bruce, from now on, the company's future rests on our shoulders," Cassie responded, a faint smile playing on her lips. During the afternoon inspection, as they approached the marketing department, they spotted a woman hastily retreating. "Manager, it's unprofessional to evade company leaders," Cassie called out, a forced smile on her face. " Cassie, I'm sorry, I really didn't see you," the manager replied, turning around with a strained smile. "My vision isn't what it used to be." "I suspect it's not just your eyesight that's failing, your hearing seems to be impaired as well," Cassie retorted, a smirk tugging at his lips. "For instance, when it comes to fabricating stories, you're quite adept." The manager's legs wobbled beneath her. She was convinced earlier that either Peace Group was on the brink of collapse, or Cassie would be ousted. "Manager, you have already been fired by the company. Please leave immediately. I trust you won't harbor any resentment towards me, considering you already have a powerful ally. I'm sure your next employer will welcome you with open arms," Cassie whispered, before striding towards the marketing department with an air of elegance. The manager clenched her teeth, spinning around to yell, "No matter how naive she may be, it's irrelevant. Megan is destined to become the wife of Madison's wealthiest man. Once I leave here, Megan will secure a position for me at Hernandez's group." Just as Jan was about to rebuke her, Cassie gently patted his shoulder and offered the manager a light smile. "Congratulations." After they had departed, Jan vented his frustration. " Cassie, shouldn't we teach her a lesson?" "There's no need. I've already done so," Cassie replied calmly. Half an hour later, the manager was packing her belongings, preparing to leave. However, as she neared the door, she was apprehended by the police. "Your company has lodged a complaint against you. You're suspected of involvement in a corruption case. Come with us to the police station."

"I'm innocent, I refuse to go!" the manager shrieked. In her position, who wouldn't accept a small bribe? Yet, most people chose to turn a blind eye. However, once an official investigation was launched, the situation changed drastically. It signified potential imprisonment. Especially considering that during her alliance with Megan, she had accepted a significant amount of bribes. "Enough with your protests. There's substantial evidence against you. Let's go." The manager was swiftly escorted away, leaving behind a buzzing office. Upon learning of the incident, Jan surveyed the bustling office, a mix of admiration and fear coursing through him.

As dusk descended, a flamboyant sports car took its position in front of the towering company building. Cassie, stepping into the vehicle, was greeted by the familiar face of Billy, a sight she hadn't beheld in what felt like an eternity. With a warmth that belied the time apart, she greeted him, "Billy, it's been too long."The memory of her forced exile into the blacklist by the scheming Robert couple was still fresh in her mind. It was Billy who had extended a lifeline, offering her employment when she needed it the most. Little did she anticipate that, three years down the line, their paths would cross again in a professional capacity.

"Junior sister, you are becoming more and more beautiful. Now I have to look at you with new eyes." Billy laughed heartily. "Let's go, in celebration of our successful collaboration, I'll treat you to dinner."

"Senior brother, I should be the one treating you. After all, it was only your company in the entire Madison that had the courage to back me up." Her voice was sincere as she added, "You, Billy, are my savior."Billy waved away her gratitude with a teasing smile. "Let's not forget, you're the design director at Hazle Company. Not many people know that, do they?" She responded with a playful shush, pressing a finger to her lips. Her feigned secrecy elicited a round of laughter, lightening the mood in the car.An hour later, they arrived at a quaint, European-style building, its interior adorned with classic decorations. Several luxury vehicles were parked in the yard, a testament to the establishment's elite clientele. Cassie was no stranger to such niche restaurants. Tucked away in remote corners, they offered excellent cuisine, making the journey worthwhile. As they navigated through the front yard, a familiar figure emerged from the building. " Cassie, how I've missed you," Noah exclaimed, his arms outstretched for an embrace. "Noah," Cassie's initial surprise gave way to a frown. "No, no, don't get the wrong idea," Noah hurriedly clarified. "I didn't inform Joseph or the others. I'm here with Billy."Billy chuckled at their exchange. "You seem to have forgotten that I once ran a company in Madison. Noah and I have been collaborating for years now. When I mentioned I was meeting you, he insisted on coming along."

" Cassie, you're outrageous. I really thought you were gone and you didn't even contact me. My heart was broken. You could have asked for my help when you pretended to be dead. I'm sure I could've done better than Liam." Noah said, looking depressed.
