Chapter 1436 Did I Force You to Eat Cat Food?

He really didn't want to go back to that cold, empty house.

"Let go." Laura caught a whiff of him, and it made her feel sick.

But Michael held on tight.

"No, Laura. I'm starving. Without you and Maeve, I can't even eat. Can we please go home?" Michael begged.

"If you're hungry, go find Megan. What does that have to do with me? I just want a divorce," Laura struggled but couldn't break free.

Joseph, who was in the car, got out and pried Michael's arm away, letting Laura run into the Presidential Palace.

Laura had no intention of dealing with Michael anymore, not even wanting to hear his excuses.

"Joseph, what the hell are you doing?" Michael saw Laura disappear and angrily swung a punch at Joseph. "Do you know how long I've been waiting here to see her? This is between us. Why are you butting in?"

Joseph caught his fist, eyes full of mockery. "You spent the night at Megan's place last night, and now you're here bothering Laura. Michael, don't be so shameless."

Michael's handsome face twitched with embarrassment. He didn't expect Joseph to know about that.

Before Michael could say anything, Cassie, who was walking by, heard and immediately picked up her bag and smashed it into his face.

"Bastard! What do you take Laura for? Do you think she's a fool? How dare you show up in front of her? Scum, get lost! Go to hell!"

Cassie hit him several times with her bag, still not satisfied, and kicked him hard a few times.

"Alright," Joseph, seeing her fierce fighting spirit, quickly pulled her away.

"Get lost; you're disgusting." Cassie glared at Michael viciously. "Laura was right. Go have dinner with Megan and stop bothering Laura."

"Enough! I did sleep at Megan's place last night, but I didn't do anything." Michael's face was bruised from the hits. He had never been so humiliated but couldn't fight back against a woman.

Cassie sneered, "It doesn't matter if you did anything or not. The point is you're married and spent the night alone with Megan. Only a fool would believe you did nothing."

Michael's fists trembled with anger. "Please don't tell Laura about this. I swear, nothing happened."

"I didn't tell her," Joseph interrupted. "But even if I don't, Laura won't continue living with you."

With that, Joseph pulled Cassie into the car.

On the way, Cassie kept cursing, "How can there be such a person? Michael refuses to divorce and then spends the night at Megan's. He still thinks he's innocent. Does he not understand what should and shouldn't be done after marriage?"

Joseph remained silent.

To be honest, he couldn't understand how Michael had become like this either.

"You better not do the same." Cassie glared at him fiercely. "If you dare spend the night at another woman's place, I'll cut off your genitals and then break up with you."

Joseph, feeling wronged, said, "I won't. I don't even drink when I'm out. I know very well that a married man with kids shouldn't be friends with other women."

Cassie nodded, satisfied with Joseph's awareness. "By the way, how did you know he spent the night at Megan's?"

"I had someone keeping an eye on Megan's place. Michael was drunk last night, and Jonah took him there. Jonah is one of Michael's buddies. He's got some skills, but he's a total playboy," Joseph frowned.

"Ah, just like Lucas," Cassie said knowingly.

Joseph was speechless for a moment before saying, "Jonah isn't as handsome or capable as Lucas, and his manners are pretty bad. I interacted with him a few times years ago and didn't like him. Jonah's the type who treats you well when he needs you but kicks you aside when he doesn't. He often dates multiple women at once, and group sex is probably common for him. I once accidentally discovered him sharing a woman with a married businessman."

Cassie felt deeply disgusted but remembered when Michael had taken her to a yacht full of sleazy people. She couldn't recall if Jonah was among them.

"Why would Michael hang out with someone like that?" she couldn't understand.

"The social circle in Whisperlyn City is small. They drank and partied together when they were young, and later got involved in business. Occasionally helping each other out, Jonah naturally became close to Michael."

Joseph disapproved, "But I don't agree with Michael being too close to Jonah."

Cassie snorted, "Jonah probably thinks it's normal for men to have mistresses. Michael was influenced by him."

Joseph didn't respond, silently agreeing with her.

The car drove quietly for a while before Cassie suddenly remembered something. She looked sharply at Joseph beside her, "Wait a minute; didn't you lose your memory? How do you know you interacted with Jonah years ago?"

The car screeched to a halt by the roadside.

Joseph stared wide-eyed in shock. "I hadn't thought about it before. When you asked, memories of meeting Jonah just flashed in my mind."

Cassie was equally stunned. "Are you really about to regain your memory?"

Joseph, feeling a bit panicked, frowned. "Cassie, I do want my memory back, but I'm also scared. I'm afraid of remembering all the things I did to hurt you."

"You did do a lot of awful things to me before," Cassie said, her voice tight. "But since I agreed to reconcile, I've decided to let those things go. However, if you do remember, I hope you realize how much you hurt me. You need to atone for your mistakes, slowly, with me and the kids."

Joseph's heart ached slightly.

He trembled as he held her hand and gently pulled her into his arms. "I just had a flash of memory. Did I force you to eat cat food before?"

Cassie remained silent.

Yes.

Just because Joseph ate the cat pudding she made, he forced Cassie to eat a bowl of cat food, which disgusted her to no end.

Joseph's mention of it brought back all the hatred.
