Chapter 1073 Lucas's Despise of Joseph

"Joseph, stop saying that, or I will kick your ass." Cassie was furious with him. Although she was weak, she grabbed a bouquet nearby and threw it at his head.

Joseph quickly shielded his head and dodged backward.

Lucas walked in just in time to see this scene and raised his eyebrow, teasing, "Wow! You're recovering pretty fast."

Cassie took several deep breaths in frustration and simply covered her face with a blanket.

"What did you do?" Lucas asked curiously, looking at Joseph.

Despite being hit, Joseph was smiling as if he had just tasted honey.

"Did you get hit in the head?" Lucas teased, speechless.

"Someone like you wouldn't understand," Joseph said disdainfully, glancing at him.

Lucas pondered, 'Come on! I have been in so many relationships!'

Lucas couldn't be bothered to argue with him. He handed over the medicine he was holding and said, "Give this to her three times a day. I'm leaving."

Lucas knew he hadn't treated Cassie well in the past, and Cassie and Sarah didn't get along. It was no surprise that Cassie didn't like him.

As he turned to leave, he suddenly heard Joseph ask, "Cassie, I heard from Spencer that David also framed Nina. What's going on?"

The mention of "Nina" made Lucas stop in his tracks.

Cassie didn't want to explain to them, but seeing Lucas, she felt a stir in her heart and said, "Would you believe me? Three years ago, you didn't believe anything I said."

"Cassie, I was a fool before. From now on, I'll believe whatever you say. Even if you say Lucas is gay, I'll believe it," Joseph said.

Lucas glared at Joseph with a sullen face.

Joseph, without a hint of guilt, said, "I used to not believe my wife and suffered greatly for it. I've learned my lesson now."

Cassie said irritably, "We are already divorced."

"Cassie." Joseph immediately put on a serious face. "My mind is too dull to figure out all these problems. I still need you to enlighten me."

Lucas was speechless, thinking, 'He is so shameless!'

Cassie was also choked up for a moment before saying, "Three years ago, I told you that Joyce was actually Olivia in disguise."

Lucas interrupted her, "But we did a DNA test. The person who died was the real Joyce. Cassie, I know you and Nina were close, but the Zenith family is complicated. You shouldn't always try to clear her name."

Cassie was infuriated. "You used to say Megan was pure and kind and that Nina always bullied her. But now you've seen Megan's true colors. Do you really think Nina could bully Megan? Didn't you see how Megan almost drove me to suicide? Now that you know the truth, didn't you ever consider that Nina might have been wronged too?"

Lucas was stunned.

Joseph quickly chimed in, "Cassie, you're absolutely right. We were too biased against Nina back then."

"Exactly." Cassie agreed with Joseph. "Lucas, I don't understand what happened between you and Nina, but you were prejudiced against her from the start. You were so afraid of being wrong that you found countless reasons to prove yourself right. But you were too stubborn. I don't understand why you can't give her a chance now that she's dead."

"She's dead?" Lucas murmured, remembering the grave at the cemetery where the Zeniths' ashes had been taken.

"What else? She jumped into the ocean, and the police couldn't find her. Do you think she could still be alive?" Cassie said, her throat choking up.

Joseph didn't know how to comfort her, so he just patted her back gently.

Cassie continued, "At that time, I took Joyce's hair and Robert's for a DNA test, which confirmed they were indeed father and daughter. However, Olivia's former friend discovered it during the test at Silverwood. The person who died was indeed the real Joyce because she was swapped back just before the fire. I had suspected that Olivia couldn't have done all this alone. She was just a pawn to worsen the conflict between Joseph and me. The other day, when I checked David's computer, I found a photo of Joyce from her college days. The date it was saved was before Joyce came to you as a caregiver."

Cassie looked at Joseph. "David might have been secretly working for the Chamberlain family at that time. After you threw Olivia into the nightclub, the Chamberlains took her back and used her as a pawn for revenge. David knew the whereabouts of the real Joyce and had her photos. He had Olivia undergo plastic surgery to look like Joyce and get close to you. The real Joyce was already in their hands. When things went south, they had the real Joyce burned."

Joseph and Lucas were shocked.

What Cassie said might be true. Otherwise, how could David, who had just arrived in Whisperlyn City, have photos of Joyce on his computer?

Lucas said confusedly, "Then why did they frame Nina? She had nothing to do with them."

Cassie rolled her eyes at him. "I find that you two always become stupid when it comes to the Zenith family. If Nina hadn't been framed, would Joseph and I have ended up like that?"

Joseph and Lucas were stunned and quickly understood.

Cassie said, "I'm Nina's friend. I couldn't stand her being framed. To save her, I would definitely fall out with you. My bad relationship with Joseph directly affected his health. Later, his condition worsened, and he even started losing his memory. He had to stay in the hospital and rarely went to the company. Actually, I suspected that fake Joyce had been drugging his milk all along."

Lucas thought for a while. "If that's true, then Joseph's food was indeed drugged. His condition deteriorated too quickly back then. I didn't suspect it at the time and thought he was just upset by you."
