Chapter 1120 Counterattack

Megan sat in the defendant's seat, glaring at Joseph, feeling pretty smug inside.

Her lawyer, Mark, said, "The so-called top lawyer in Madison isn't that impressive."

Megan whispered, "Are we going to win?"

"Looks like it. Didn't you see Cherie's annoyed look at Joseph? Now, let me finish him off," Mark replied.

Mark stood up and asked Joseph, "Mr. Hernandez, I heard you're involved with Cassie, a married woman. Is that true?"

Joseph's lips barely moved. "She's my ex-wife."

"So, you're involved with a woman who's not yet divorced?" Mark pressed.

"Yes," Joseph nodded.

Mark smirked and looked at Cherie. "Ms. Flores, Joseph's public involvement with a married woman shows his lack of morals and negative impact on society. His deception of Megan and wasting over ten years of her life is despicable. I hope you judge fairly. People like Joseph, once they have money, tend to harm innocent women and take advantage of them."

Cherie, hearing this, looked even more displeased with Joseph.

Joseph stood up. "Ms. Ray, did I ever have a sexual relationship with you?"

Megan stared at him. "If you don't want to admit it, what can I say?"

"Answer directly," Joseph said coldly.

"Yes," Megan nodded.

Joseph turned to Cherie. "I request to call one last witness."

"Who?" Cherie asked.

"Megan's older brother, Nathan," Joseph said, and Megan's face changed.

Mark immediately objected, "I object. Joseph didn't file this request in advance."

Joseph explained, "He recently had issues and was in the hospital. I wasn't sure he'd make it to court, so I didn't file. But he texted me before the trial saying he'd come. Both sides mentioned Nathan multiple times in the first trial."

Cherie checked the records and nodded. "Let Nathan in."

Megan, who had been smug, now looked panicked. She couldn't believe Nathan, missing for a month, had found Joseph.

She thought Nathan had fled the country after Lucas taught him a lesson.

"How much does your brother know?" Mark asked quietly.

"A lot," Megan replied, looking worried.

Mark clenched his fist. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I didn't know. He always listened to me," Megan said, regretting that she hadn't made Nathan disappear sooner.

Nathan soon entered.

Seeing Megan, he shivered.

Megan quickly said with teary eyes, "Nathan, where have you been? I was so worried. How did you get hurt? Did Joseph threaten you?"

Joseph shot back, "Megan, watch your words. I can sue you for defamation."

Cherie gave Megan a warning look. "Witness, take the stand."

Nathan nervously took the stand. Joseph asked, "Mr. Ray, have I helped the Zenith Group multiple times and secretly found partners for them?"

Nathan nodded timidly. "Yes."

Joseph continued, "Without my help, could the Zenith Group have survived until now?"

Nathan shook his head. "No."

Joseph then asked, "Your sister, Megan, claims I had a sexual relationship with her. Do you believe that's true?"

Mark stood up. "Hold on. Nathan is Megan's brother. How could he know such private matters? Plus, Nathan and Joseph have always had a bad relationship. His sudden willingness to testify for Joseph is suspicious. We suspect he was threatened. Look at his injuries."

Cherie frowned, and the crowd murmured.

Nathan shouted, "No, he didn't threaten me. I hate Megan. She's too vicious."

Megan's face changed. "Nathan, have you forgotten everything? After Mom died, we went through so much. If it weren't for me, could you be standing here today?"

Joseph sneered. "Don't take all the credit. I handled his case back then. Without me, he'd be in jail. But you, Megan, have used Nathan for years, keeping yourself clean while making him do the dirty work."

"Yes," Nathan remembered the incident with Lucas and got furious. "After the Hernandez family declined, I ran into a drunk Joseph. I called you, and you encouraged me to tell Leon so he'd teach Joseph a lesson. You washed your hands of it."

Facing the crowd's complex looks, Megan retorted, "You're talking nonsense."

Mark said, "Your personal grudges don't belong here. This is a court."

Nathan almost lost it, but Joseph quickly said, "Nathan, answer my previous question."

Nathan was stunned for a moment, then quickly said, "How could you have a relationship with Megan? She often told me she'd barf every time you were around. She always complained to me in private and called you a loser."

The crowd was in an uproar.

Nathan continued, "Once, she even asked me to get her some aphrodisiacs. When it didn't work, she blamed me for not getting a strong enough dose."

"That's nonsense," Mark said sternly. "What did Joseph offer you to make you betray Megan?"

Megan cried, "Nathan, we're family."

She was hinting that her money was his too, hoping he'd come to his senses.

But Nathan had long hated Megan and wouldn't believe her. "During Joseph's relationship with her, she often encouraged me to hint to Joseph to buy her luxury houses and designer bags. Also, when Joseph and Cassie were still married, she pretended to be injured to trick Joseph into coming over, causing Cassie to misunderstand and fight with Joseph, leading to their breakup, and she took advantage of it."

Megan was furious. "That's not true."

Nathan sneered, "It is true. Every time you were slightly injured, you always exaggerated in front of Joseph."
