Chapter 1177 Joey, Why Are You Here?

"I'm heading back to the Hernandez House. What about you? Are you with Sophia and Oliver?" Joseph's deep voice came through.

"I'm out having a barbecue with a friend," Cassie said, touching her nose.

"Who? Laura?" Joseph asked, sounding possessive.

"No, a colleague from work. You go be with Sophia and Oliver. I'll come back after I finish eating." Cassie nodded vaguely. She didn't want to lie, but Joseph got jealous too easily.

"What colleague? Male or female?"

"Joseph, seriously?" Cassie pretended to be annoyed. "Why do you need to know everything? Don't you trust me?"

"Is it that hard to say if it's a man or a woman?" Joseph asked coolly.

"So what if it's a man? It's none of your business. I'm just having dinner with a friend." Cassie hung up, deciding not to explain further.

Across from her, Everett looked amused. "I'm your company colleague?"

Cassie awkwardly explained, "I had no choice. If he knew I was having dinner with a younger, more handsome guy, he'd get jealous. He's just like that, very possessive."

"Have you had dinner with other young, handsome guys before?" Everett asked, a dark look in his eyes.

"No," Cassie said honestly, "I don't have many male friends. You're probably the first. I feel a sense of familiarity with you. If I had a younger brother, he'd probably be like you."

Everett was taken aback.

Cassie smiled and said, "I don't have a younger brother, don't misunderstand. My parents only had me."

"Your parents didn't have more kids?" Everett asked deliberately.

Cassie shook her head, not wanting to answer. "It's my treat. You order."

"I'm not familiar with Madison's cuisine. You order." Everett shook his head.

Cassie didn't insist and just ordered some dishes she thought were good.

When the food arrived, Everett found it very tasty, except for being a bit spicy.

Cassie discovered that she and Everett had similar tastes.

She loved beef, and so did Everett. She liked mushrooms, and Everett loved them too.

They ended up ordering two portions of the same dish.

"By the way, Everett, you're planning to settle in Whisperlyn City. What are you planning to do here?" Cassie asked as they were almost done eating.

"I'm planning to start a bank."

Cassie almost choked on a piece of lamb.

She looked up, her eyes misty from choking and her lips slightly swollen, looking as cute as could be.

Everett's eyes darkened slightly, and he said with a natural smile, "Is that strange? My family has many banks abroad."

"No wonder," Cassie mumbled.

She thought to herself, 'No wonder he could spend a million dollars without hesitation.'

"But you're so young," Cassie added.

"Young?" Everett was taken aback. "Not really. When I was sixteen, my dad handed the business over to me. I had to study and manage banks, hotels, and other businesses."

Cassie smiled.

"You don't believe me?" Everett asked.

"I just remembered that when I was twenty-one, I was still dating and worrying about love every day. You say you managed so many businesses at sixteen, and I can't believe it." Cassie shook her head. "At your age, you should be dating more, not making money."

"Are you going to introduce me to a girl?" Everett raised an eyebrow.

Cassie was stunned. "You're too young. I don't have anyone suitable for you. You'll have to find someone yourself."

"But I like someone like you," Everett said with a forced smile, looking at her.

Cassie was so shocked she almost choked again. She widened her eyes. "I see you as a younger brother. If you have other thoughts, we can't even be friends."

Everett looked at her for a while and said, "I'm very rich."

Cassie frowned. "Do you think I'd dump my boyfriend for you just because you're rich?"

"That's not what I meant," Everett quickly picked up a drink to hide his expression.

He was actually trying to test her.

"Good. If you did, we couldn't even be friends," Cassie admitted she was a bit upset and disappointed with Everett. "Using money to attract women isn't something to be proud of. I don't lack money."

"Don't people always want more money? People are always greedy," Everett said thoughtfully.

Cassie smiled. "You are rich, but aren't you sitting here eating barbecue with me? Some people earn a few thousand dollars a month eating the same food as us."

Everett's lips parted slightly, and he was momentarily speechless. After a moment, he said, "I'm very handsome."

"My boyfriend is also very handsome," Cassie interrupted him, "He's not inferior to you and has the charm of a mature man."

Everett rubbed his forehead, feeling a sense of powerlessness. "Is there really nothing else about me that attracts you?"

Cassie looked at his young, handsome face and found it funny, but she still said seriously, "I really just see you as a younger brother. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be here having dinner with you. If you want to flirt with women, I might as well leave now."

Everett noticed the patience in her eyes was gone and quickly said, "I was joking. Actually, I have a sister like you. She looks a bit like you, so I felt close to you when I first saw you."

He really didn't expect Cassie to react so strongly, pondering, 'She is a gold digger, but why didn't she try to hook up with me when she knew I was so rich?'

While he was lost in thought, Cassie suddenly looked behind him, her face changing. She stood up with a light cough and a slightly ingratiating tone. "Joey, why are you here?"

"How would I know you're having dinner with your male colleague if I didn't come here?" Joseph's gloomy voice sounded from behind her.

Everett turned around and saw Joseph standing behind him in a gray suit.
