Chapter 1105 Cassie, Do You Look Down On Me?
Cameron sighed, looking at her. "You're smarter than I was, and your ending with Joseph is better than mine with Mable."
Cameron had been tormented by Marcus for over twenty years and was misled into thinking Liam was Marcus's son. This caused Liam and Joseph to hate each other for decades, and now Liam was dead.
Cassie sensed Cameron might be thinking of Liam and felt uneasy. "Cameron, don't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault."
"Yeah," Cameron nodded bitterly. "You're smarter than me, so Joseph realized his mistakes sooner. It's good you two got back together."
"It's just that Cassie and I are luckier than you. Let's forget the bad stuff and eat," Joseph said, cutting the steak.
During the meal, Cassie talked business with Cameron. As an international business tycoon, he gave her some useful advice.
"Your idea to develop tourism is spot on. Real estate has peaked and is now stagnating. I know some big players in the tourism industry in Yugrot. You could partner with them to explore overseas markets," Cameron said.
Cassie was thrilled. "Thanks, Cameron. You're really knowledgeable."
"So am I," Joseph said, feeling jealous of Cassie's happy smile at Cameron. "I know some people in tourism too."
"Come on! Cameron's experience is way richer than yours," Cassie teased. "One of his friends owns thousands of five-star hotels worldwide. I can work closely with them."
Cameron added, "Don't rush. You could acquire land domestically and build large resort parks. Create a unique resort brand and go international. I can help with technology and performance teams."
"Cameron, you're amazing," Cassie said, full of admiration.
For the next hour, she discussed the resort project with Cameron, while Joseph sat there bored, unable to join in. Cameron completely stole his thunder.
Joseph felt frustrated. Once the richest man in Madison, he now felt like an inexperienced teenager.
At 8:30, Cameron glanced at Joseph and smiled. "Alright, if you ignore Joseph, he might not bring you here next time."
Cassie noticed Joseph's gloomy face and smiled awkwardly. "Cameron is really impressive."
"Cassie, how many times have you praised my dad tonight?" Joseph said unhappily.
"You're being ridiculous, getting jealous of Cameron," Cassie laughed. "You're lucky to have such a father."
"Thanks, but my luck has never been about my parents," Joseph said, eyes complicated. "I actually know the stuff my dad mentioned. You never discuss your ideas with me, Cassie. Do you look down on me now?"
Cassie felt helpless. She'd just talked a bit more with Cameron, and now Joseph thought she looked down on him. She thought he overreacted and asked, "How was I supposed to know you understood this stuff?"
"If you don't talk to me, how would you know I don't get it?" Joseph shot back.
"Why should I talk to you? Don't forget how you used to upset me. I didn't even want to speak to you. Besides, we just got back together today, okay?" Cassie replied.
"No, technically, it was at 11:28 last night," Joseph corrected.
Cassie was speechless.
Cameron watched them bicker with a complex smile. He and Mabel used to be like this, but they were young and didn't know how to cherish each other. Now, after more than half a lifetime, he was still alone, aside from his career.
"Wait here," Cameron said, getting up and heading upstairs.
Three minutes later, he came back with a file bag and handed it to Cassie.
Cassie opened it to find the deed and property documents for the Hernandez House, along with a bunch of keys.
She was shocked. "So you're the mysterious buyer of the Hernandez House."
"First meeting, the Hernandez House is a gift for you," Cameron smiled. "Consider it a gift for Sophia and Oliver."
Cassie was startled. "This is too valuable; I can't accept it."
"I'm giving it to Sophia and Oliver," Cameron insisted. "Take it. I bought it to help the Hernandez family through a tough time. I never intended to live there. Honestly, I don't have good memories of that place, but it's different for the Hernandez family, especially Walter and Mildred, who lived there for decades."
Joseph instantly understood.
"The Hernandez House is great, with an orchard and a horse farm. It's perfect for kids. I'm sure Sophia and Oliver will love it," Cameron said. "Keeping it empty is a waste."
"But..." Cassie hesitated.
"Cassie, take it," Joseph interrupted. "It's a gift from my dad to Sophia and Oliver."
"That's right," Cameron agreed.
"Then I'll thank you on behalf of Sophia and Oliver," Cassie said, finally accepting.
At 9 PM, Cassie and Joseph left the villa.
Behind them, Cameron stood alone in the courtyard, hands in his pockets.
Cassie asked, "Hasn't Cameron remarried?"
"No," Joseph shook his head.
"He seems quite lonely. Has he not forgotten Mabel? They're both single now."
"Forget it, it's different. My dad hates her," Joseph sighed. "Their misunderstanding isn't like ours. It involves my grandma's life. Grandma Diana was killed by Marcus. If my mom hadn't been involved with Marcus back then, none of this would have happened."
Cassie was shocked. "I didn't expect that."
"Mabel knew Cameron had returned long ago, but she never came to see him. It's not that she forgot him; she just doesn't have the face to see him," Joseph said. "She made too many mistakes."
