Chapter 799
"Aunt Cassie, do you know what candy that is? Can you make my heart sweet next time, too?" Sophia looked at Cassie innocently and asked.
"I don't know either. I'm not as knowledgeable and emotionally rich as Uncle Joseph," Cassie retorted before lowering her head to eat steak.
Joseph, feeling frustrated, took a sip of his water.
He wasn't emotionally rich at all. As the head of the Hernandez family, Joseph has only been entangled between Cassie and Megan in his lifetime, even his experiences of intimate relationships with women had only been with Cassie.
After finishing the meal, they headed to the cinema.
Sophia sat on Joseph's neck while Cassie held Sophia's coat.
In the eyes of other children, they looked just like a family.
Especially while waiting in the theater, many children stood outside. Some came with just their fathers or mothers, all enviously looking at Sophia.
"Mummy, look at that little girl; she's so lucky, both her dad and mom are with her."
"Sweetie, your dad has to work overtime to earn money. There's no other way."
I also wish my dad and mum could be with me. Her dad is so handsome, and her mum is so pretty."
Sophia heard this and felt particularly proud, looking quite pleased.
Cassie watched Sophia with a mix of amusement and tenderness.
In fact, when in Austin, Sophia had also envied other children for having parents with them. This was the real reason why Cassie couldn't bear to refuse to come and watch Tom and Jerry with her in the end.
Suddenly, Cassie thought of Oliver. Recently, Joseph had been coming to her a lot, and she hadn't visited Oliver for days. Oliver was so sensible that it made her heart ache.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Joseph suddenly grabbed Cassie's palm, gazing warmly at her. "Do you want something to eat? I'll go buy it for you."
"I want... I want popcorn," Sophia spoke up first.
"Do you think I'm as gluttonous as you all?" Cassie whispered, but Joseph still heard her.
He said earnestly, "I'm not a glutton. I just love eating the food you make."
"Me too. Aunt Cassie's dishes are the most delicious in the world," Sophia chimed in.
Seeing the somewhat similar faces of Sophia and Joseph, Cassie's gaze softened. "I'll have a milk tea."
Joseph handed Sophia over to Cassie and then turned to buy the milk tea.
Sophia nestled in Cassie's arms and suddenly whispered, "Mummy, is Joseph pursuing you now?"
"You little girl, what do you know?" Cassie pinched Sophia's nose.
"Mummy, I just feel... Joseph is actually quite nice." Sophia looked pitifully at Cassie. "Why don't you just be together?"
Cassie was taken aback. She had actually noticed Sophia's desire for her and Joseph to be together before. Sophia yearned for it, but... could she forget those things that hurt her just because Sophia wanted it?
Cassie answered, "You're oversimplifying things. Megan is not someone who gives up easily, and Joseph will always choose to leave us for Megan at any moment."
And Sophia simply didn't understand. If it weren't for Liam and Nathaniel's help back then, Sophia and Oliver would probably have been tortured to death long ago.
Some torment and embarrassment, Cassie would never forget in her lifetime.
"Is that so? If Joseph is like that, then I will never forgive him again." Sophia pouted.
Soon, Joseph returned with something, and they entered the cinema together.
Sophia sat in the middle, with one adult on each side.
However, Joseph didn't like being too far from Cassie. He lifted Sophia onto his lap, taking her place, and suggested, "Sophia, I'll hold you to watch, okay? The person in front is too tall, blocking your view."
