Chapter 1167 He Is Cameron's Son

"Hang in there. The kidnappers can't convince me, so they'll definitely try Grandpa next. They went through a lot to capture my mom; they won't give up easily. Since Marcus sent a doctor, he won't let her die just yet," Joseph said, clenching his fists. "As soon as Marcus shows up, call the police right away."

"But we don't know when Marcus will show up," Nathaniel said, looking worried.

4:00 AM.

When the Chamberlain family's private doctor arrived, Mabel's forehead was already covered in blood.

After some emergency treatment, he reluctantly called Marcus. "Mr. Chamberlain, she hit her head hard and has no will to live. If we don't take her to the hospital, I can't guarantee she'll survive."

"No guarantee?" There was a moment of silence, then Marcus's furious roar came through. "I pay you so much, and you can't even save one person? What am I paying you for?"

"The main issue is she has no will to live," the doctor said helplessly.

"Useless," Marcus cursed. He suddenly remembered the first time he met Mabel in college.

Back then, Mabel was proud and beautiful.

If love at first sight existed, he definitely felt it.

Marcus thought that after marrying Mabel, even if he took over the Hernandez Group, he wouldn't abandon her. He'd treat her well for life.

But Mabel betrayed him and got together with Cameron.

Later, she even had a child with Cameron.

Marcus noticed that after Mabel married Cameron, she gradually fell in love with him. From that moment, hatred grew in his heart. He hated Mabel.

So Marcus schemed to constantly sow discord between her and Cameron, leading to their eventual divorce. Unfortunately, Mabel never realized it. Even after divorcing Cameron, she didn't care about Marcus as much as before. She always mentioned Cameron and even called Marcus Cameron on their dates.

In the end, she and Cameron got back together and had Liam.

At that point, he had no choice but to let her believe Liam was his child. For Liam's sake, she married Marcus.

After marriage, they got along well, but no one knew how much hatred Marcus harbored inside.

Marcus despised her while deliberately seeking out young and beautiful women.

When Marcus finally gained full power and could trample her underfoot, he felt an indescribable satisfaction.

Marcus thought he no longer cared about Mabel, but upon hearing she was about to die, he suddenly felt disoriented.

He hated her and wanted to torment her, but he didn't want her to die.

He needed Mabel to live, to crawl humbly at his feet.

He wanted to humiliate her endlessly.

A moment later, Marcus grabbed his car keys and headed out.

When Marcus arrived, he saw Mabel lying on a wooden bed, her forehead bandaged, an IV in her hand, and her face as pale as paper, looking like she could die any moment.

He flashed back to the first time he met Mabel in a red dress.

"Mabel, hold on. You can't die," Marcus rushed to her side, grabbed her forcefully, and shouted, "If you die, I'll kill Liam. Haven't you been looking for him? Let me tell you, Liam is in my hands. If you die, I'll kill him immediately."

"Marcus, you madman," Mabel said weakly, opening her eyes. Liam was the only reason she held on. "Why are you doing this to him? He's your son."

"My son?" Marcus laughed like it was a joke. "Mabel, you bitch, Liam is not my son. He's Cameron's."

Mabel was shocked; her breathing became rapid, and she almost fainted again.

"That night, you were drunk. It was Cameron who was with you." Marcus bent down, looking at her with a sinister expression. "Do you know why I hate you so much? That was your last chance, but you were with Cameron again. You were reluctant to marry me, so I pretended to be him and faked a sexual encounter with you. When you got pregnant, I had to claim Liam as mine. Do you know how much I loathed looking at Liam all these years? I wanted to kill him."

"You!" Mabel trembled, looking at Marcus with eyes full of hatred, appearing extremely ferocious.

She had never wanted him dead as much as she did at that moment.

He had ruined her entire life.

Even though Mabel was on the verge of collapse, she somehow found the strength to grab his neck.

"Want to kill me?" Marcus sneered, prying her hand away. "Dream on, Mabel. You better stay alive. If you die, I'll bury Liam with you."

He pushed her away forcefully.

Mabel collapsed on the bed, tears streaming from her bloodshot eyes.

She thought she was a joke. She had always been good to the Chamberlain family and Marcus out of guilt.

In the end, she hurt Cameron deeply for Marcus.

She even misidentified her child's father, causing Liam and Joseph, who were actually brothers, to be enemies for decades.

She was unfit to be a mother.

"Call Walter," Marcus said coldly, throwing the phone at her, "Tell him to force Joseph to hand over the Hernandez Group's new product information and stop its release, or I'll throw you to those men."

Mabel looked at him in disbelief. "Why are you so heartless?"

"You forced me to be like this." Marcus grabbed her face. "I've endured for over twenty years to get to where I am today. For twenty years, I was like a servant in the Hernandez family. I finally have my position now, but the Hernandez family keeps opposing me. Do you know that Joseph doesn't care about you? He even hung up on us. Now, the only person who can save you and Liam is you."

"Is Liam really still alive?" Mabel laughed hoarsely. "Would someone as ruthless as you let him live? If he were alive, why would you kidnap me? Wouldn't it be more effective to threaten me directly with him?"
