Chapter 1445 Want to Strangle Megan
So, Laura shot back a message and set up a meet with Megan at this swanky café.
Then she called up Cassie. "I've made up my mind. When I see Megan, I'm gonna slap her twice. Didn't she sprain her ankle? I'll make sure to break a few more bones, and then I'll strip her clothes off so everyone can see what a shameless bitch she is."
"Alright, just as long as you don't mind if Michael gets the wrong idea. Do whatever you want. It's a shame there's a parent-child event at the kindergarten today, or I'd be right there with you," Cassie said, "Just be careful."
"Of course, I'll be careful. I'm even planning to record our chat so that after the divorce, Michael can see Megan's true colors."
Cassie thought for a moment and said, "Megan might be onto that. She's super cautious now and probably won't fall for it."
Laura got it but still decided to give it a shot.
In the afternoon, Laura swung by the office before heading to the café.
When she got there, Megan was already in a private room, with a tall bodyguard standing at the door.
Laura didn't recognize the guy, but he was probably someone Michael had sent from ShadowNet Intelligence Agency to keep an eye on Megan.
Sure enough, the bodyguard blushed when he saw her. "Mrs. Jude."
Laura sneered, "You've got the wrong person. Mrs. Jude is inside."
"Mrs. Jude, please don't say that. Mr. Jude and Miss Ray aren't what you think," the bodyguard insisted, "Mr. Jude just asked me to protect Miss Ray for a while. Miss Ray came today because she doesn't want you and Mr. Jude to divorce."
Laura got it. No wonder Megan had a bodyguard tailing her. "So, Michael doesn't know about your meeting with me today?"
The bodyguard shook his head.
"Aren't you worried Michael will be pissed if he finds out Megan met me behind his back?" Laura raised an eyebrow.
"Mr. Jude doesn't want to divorce you either. If things can be cleared up, Mr. Jude will be happy," the bodyguard said calmly.
Laura roughly understood. This bodyguard was also duped by Megan. It made sense; if Michael was fooled by Megan, so would his subordinates.
Laura smiled and didn't bother to respond, pushing the door open directly.
Inside the café, Megan was wearing a chic white coat, her long hair draped over her shoulders, exuding an elegant vibe.
But Laura recognized the coat from a magazine. It had just been released in the U.S. and was super expensive, costing over a hundred grand.
Megan's food, drink, and living arrangements were all covered by Michael.
So, Michael was willing to spend on Megan too.
Laura thought about how she was moved by Michael's daily morning gifts and felt she was too naive and shallow.
The cheapest things in this world were those bought with money.
"Laura, my leg is messed up, so I didn't stand up to greet you," Megan pointed to her leg.
Laura sat directly across from her. After driving all the way, she was thirsty and poured herself a cup of coffee, "What do you want to talk about? Just say it."
Megan's red lips parted slightly, but Laura cut her off, "If you're here to give me some sob story about how you and Michael are innocent, save it. I'm not in the mood for your drama."
Megan stared at her for a moment, then suddenly smiled and leaned in closer, speaking in a voice only they could hear, "Alright, do you want to know how Esmeralda died?"
Esmeralda was Nina's mom.
Laura had only seen her a few times, but she always remembered how Esmeralda was in tears after Nina went to prison. Later, Esmeralda mysteriously died in the bathroom.
"Did you kill her?" Laura gripped her cup tightly.
"What are you talking about?" Megan looked all innocent, her voice back to normal, "I came to tell you that Michael really likes you. He told me he's married and that there's no chance between us. He just wants to be with you and your kids."
Laura glanced at the closed door and lowered her voice, "Megan, I want to know the truth."
Megan took a sip of coffee and whispered, "There's someone outside. I have to be careful. If Michael finds out my true nature, it would be bad."
She pointed to Laura's purse, "I don't trust you either. Who knows if you're recording?"
Laura silently praised Cassie's foresight. Megan was even wary of recording.
Laura straightforwardly took out her phone and paused the recording in front of Megan. "Is it okay now?"
"I can't fully trust you," Megan leaned closer, her voice barely above a whisper, but Laura could hear it clearly.
"That day I went to see Esmeralda and had a fight. I called her a bitch and said her daughter deserved to be in prison. Then, when she got emotional, I subtly hypnotized her. After I left, she was dazed, hit her head on the bathroom cabinet, and passed out. She bled a lot, missed the rescue time, and died."
Megan's red lips curled up, her eyes filled with malicious glee. "I've hated Esmeralda since I was a kid. If it weren't for her, my family wouldn't have ended up like this. So, she had to die, but I couldn't leave any evidence."
"Bitch."
Laura's eyes burned with intense anger, her whole body trembling.
Although she and Cassie had suspected this outcome, it was never confirmed.
Now that Laura knew the truth, she wanted to strangle Megan.
"Also, after Esmeralda died, I dumped her ashes in the sewer," Megan continued softly, "How could I let her ashes be buried with my dad? A woman like Esmeralda should stay in a filthy sewer."
Laura glared at her, her hands shaking.
Esmeralda was such a gentle person, yet she died so miserably.
"Don't look at me like that. Nina knows about this too," Megan shrugged and said, "And do you know why Nathan raped you back then? Because you were friends with Cassie, and Nathan had his eyes on you. So, I encouraged him to break into your house. I told him he could do whatever he wanted to you, and I would protect him. Even if he ruined you, it didn't matter. Unfortunately, it was so close."
"Later, the photos of you in disarray were also spread by me through reporters."
"At that time, I thought I had to completely destroy you."
