Chapter 1173 The Mysterious Force
"Where'd you get it?" Celeste asked, taking it and looking shocked. 'How did the names become Sophia and Oliver?' she wondered.
"Back when the Hernandez Group was in trouble, I had to sell the Hernandez House. Turns out, Dad secretly bought it to help us out. He planned to give it to me, but when he found out Sophia and Oliver were my kids, he changed the names as a gift for them," Joseph explained. "Now that things have settled, I want Grandpa and Grandma to move back to the Hernandez House. They might still feel at home there. You can move back anytime too; the place is huge, and you can spend more time with them."
"Joseph, let's have a meal with Cameron when he's free," Isaac said emotionally. "We owe him a lot for helping the Hernandez family."
"I don't think my dad would want to meet you," Joseph replied after a pause. "He was forced to leave Madison by Marcus and was hunted by his people. Grandma Sanchez died because of Marcus. He resents the Hernandez family and regrets marrying into it."
Isaac was speechless.
Mabel gripped the blanket tightly, feeling bitter. She understood his feelings.
That evening, Cassie and Joseph took Sophia and Oliver out of the hospital.
She casually asked, "Did Marcus confess to any more crimes when you went to the police station?"
"Yeah," Joseph said, focusing on driving. "It's about the Chapman Group. They and the Chamberlain Group started an investment company. The police found the Chamberlain Group was cooking the books and manipulating stock prices. Your investment company is frozen, but the Chapman Group can withdraw. It means the Chapman Group is no longer under the Chamberlain family's control and can return to the Chapman family."
Cassie was stunned. "It'll probably go back to Atlas or Luna. Grandpa and Grandma have big issues with Aiden."
"Aiden started a logistics company, and all the top people from the Chapman Group joined him. Even if the Chapman Group returns to Atlas, it's already weakened," Joseph said. "I'm worried Atlas will ask Paul and Margaret to beg Aiden to merge his new company with the Chapman Group so they can manage it together."
Cassie frowned. After thinking, she realized Joseph might be right.
When the Chapman Group was under the Chamberlain Group's control, Aiden's new company expanded. Now, it had thousands of logistics points nationwide and partners with major e-commerce companies. Atlas must be jealous and would likely get Paul and Margaret to say Aiden stole the Chapman Group's business. They would probably threaten Aiden with their lives again.
Just then, Aiden called, "Cassie, don't come back for a while. Your grandpa, grandma, and Atlas are causing trouble again. I'm annoyed. I'm staying at the company."
"Dad, did Atlas return to the Chapman Group?" Cassie asked.
"Yeah, with the Chamberlain family out of the picture, Henry's no longer a threat. Atlas is back as chairman of the Chapman Group. But the company’s been gutted by the Chamberlain Group and Henry. Atlas says I'm competing with him by starting my own company. He wants either a merger or for the old employees to return," Aiden scoffed. "I won't agree. Everything I have is for you."
"Avoiding them sounds smart," Cassie agreed.
After the call, Joseph said, "I need to work late at the office tonight. You should take Sophia and Oliver to the Hernandez House tomorrow. It's bigger and more fun for the kids."
"Can I ride horses again?" Sophia asked excitedly, turning to Oliver. "The Hernandez House is huge! It has a playground, a horse farm, a river, and lots of fruit. It's so much fun."
Oliver, who had never been there, was intrigued by Sophia's description.
"You guys moving there is fine, but David and I haven't divorced yet," Cassie said, still concerned. Being with Joseph like this made her uncomfortable.
"Don't worry. With Marcus's case, I doubt David isn't involved," Joseph said. "The divorce should happen soon."
"Okay," Cassie nodded, trusting Joseph's capabilities.
After parting with Joseph, she took Sophia and Oliver to the Hernandez House. She then got an urgent call from Spencer. "Ms. Brooks, Peter and I are in trouble."
"What happened? Are you okay?" Cassie asked, shocked.
With everything going on, she had almost forgotten she sent Spencer and Peter to monitor Silverwood Prison. Today was the day Robert and Helen were released.
"This evening, after Robert and Helen were released, a luxury car without plates picked them up. Peter and I followed. After about half an hour, Peter disappeared. I found him covered in blood in an alley. When I tried to help him, I was ambushed and injured too. Luckily, I managed to get us to a crowded area, and they didn't follow."
"How's Peter?" Cassie asked urgently.
"He's worse than me. He got stabbed in the abdomen and won't recover for at least a month. I have multiple cuts," Spencer said. "I fought those guys. Their skills are on par with mine, likely honed on battlefields. They're even more formidable than the assassins in Neya City. Otherwise, Peter wouldn't have been taken down so quickly."
Cassie was horrified, thinking, 'What kind of force is behind Olivia?'
"I can't leave you guys in Silverwood. I'll have Joseph send someone to bring you back," Cassie said.
Spencer didn't refuse. "It's strange. They seemed to know I was there too. After taking down Peter, they ambushed me. It feels like Olivia knows us well."
"It's because David told Olivia about my situation. She knows me well now. I was careless," Cassie said regretfully. "By the way, did you see who picked up Robert and Helen?"
"The car windows were heavily tinted; we couldn't see inside," Spencer replied.
Cassie became worried, still knowing nothing about Olivia.
