Chapter 1350 Premature Birth
"Michael, you cold-hearted jerk! You made me like this!" Laura, already pregnant and super hormonal, was now so mad her eyes were practically on fire, and she was losing it.
She stormed over and snatched the paper bag, "I'm telling you, you can't just throw away my stuff. Get out!"
After screaming, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach, her face went pale, and she had to grab the wall to keep from collapsing.
Michael, still pissed off, was also freaked out, "Are you okay?"
"Get out," Laura glared at him, fighting the pain, but as soon as she said it, she felt a sudden gush.
Even though she had never given birth before, she had read about it. She panicked, "Oh no, I think I'm going into labor."
"No... No way," Michael was stunned. Wasn't the due date still a month away?
"What do you think? I'm going into early labor because of you." Laura was in so much pain she was about to cry. She cursed her bad luck and regretted marrying Michael.
Michael's face turned white with fear. He didn't dare argue with Laura anymore. He quickly scooped her up and ran downstairs.
Laura, now heavily pregnant, weighed about 170 pounds.
He ran downstairs in one breath, placed her in the back seat, and noticed her dress was already soaked with amniotic fluid.
His legs went weak. He felt more nervous than when Ralph had rebelled last night and someone had pointed a gun at him. Michael thought, 'No, I have to stay calm. First, get to the hospital.'
Michael quickly got into the driver's seat, started the car, and sped towards the hospital.
On the way, he called his mom, Caroline, "Mom, Laura is about to give birth. I'm taking her to the hospital now."
"What? Isn't the due date still a month away?" Caroline was also shocked, "I'll come over with your dad right away. You take Laura to the hospital first. I'll inform Laura's parents."
In the back seat, Laura was in so much pain that tears were streaming down her face. The more it hurt, the more she hated Michael, "Michael, if I die from this pain, I will haunt you forever! Ah! It hurts so much."
She clawed at the leather seat in pain, and eventually, sweat soaked her back, and she had no strength left to curse.
When they finally arrived at the hospital, Lucas had already received the news and had the obstetrics team take Laura to the delivery room.
Meanwhile, Cassie and Bernice had just sat down at a diner for a late-night snack when Michael suddenly called. His voice was trembling and filled with tension, "Cassie, come to the hospital quickly. Laura is about to give birth."
Cassie was shocked, "What? There were no signs when we were eating earlier."
"Don't ask, just come quickly. She wants you here." Michael quickly hung up.
Bernice was stunned for a moment, then immediately stood up, "I'll go with you."
Cassie nodded, not caring about anything else at the moment. She speculated, 'Laura's due date is still a month away, and now she's suddenly in labor. I wonder if it's because we went shopping together. If I know, I wouldn't ask Laura out today.'
When they rushed to the hospital, they bumped into James and his wife, along with Violet and Derek.
Laura had already been taken to the delivery room, and even through the door, they could hear her cries of pain.
Cassie and Bernice felt heartbroken. When they had left earlier, Laura was fine, and now she was in so much pain.
Caroline angrily grabbed Michael, "Wasn't Laura's due date next month? Why is she suddenly in labor?"
"I don't know," Michael couldn't meet Caroline's eyes. He thought guiltily, 'If people find out that I and Laura were arguing, causing her to go into early labor, I might get beaten up.'
Cassie quickly blamed herself, "Caroline, it might be my fault. Maybe Laura got tired from shopping with me this afternoon."
"Walking is good before giving birth. Shopping is just walking. It's not your fault," Caroline said awkwardly, "As long as Laura safely gives birth, that's all that matters."
Michael stood silently on the side.
Derek glanced at him and suddenly said, "Michael, Laura went into early labor while she was with you. Did you argue with her and stress her out?"
Everyone immediately turned their eyes to Michael.
After all, everyone knew that Laura and Michael often bickered. These two were like fire and ice when they were together.
Michael's face stiffened, and after a long pause, he stammered, "We just argued a bit, and then she suddenly had stomach pains."
Caroline's face turned cold, "A bit? What did you say? You stressed Laura out so much that she went into early labor."
"I asked her if she was having dinner with another man tonight. She said she was looking for a new lover, and I got mad and called her fat. I gave away the clothes she bought, and then we argued, and she had stomach pains."
Michael hung his head and stammered through the explanation.
Cassie was furious, "She was having dinner with me tonight."
"I know it was you, but there were three sets of utensils, so there was another person," Michael mumbled.
"That was me," Bernice said coldly. She couldn't believe that her leaving early had made Michael suspicious of Laura, "Besides, Laura is your wife. You should know what kind of person she is. Asking your nine-month-pregnant wife stuff like that? Of course she'd be mad."
"Exactly, Laura is going through so much to have your child, and you're always suspicious. If I were her, I'd be furious too."
Caroline was so angry that she slapped Michael, "What did I tell you? You're married, she's pregnant, and you should be taking care of her. Is this how you do it? You even called her fat. Who is she doing this for? For you! She wanted a nice dress, and you gave it away. How did I raise such a jerk?"
"Mom, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
Michael's face was pale from the scolding. He thought, 'I don't want this to happen. Looking back, I can't believe I have done such a thing.'
"You didn't mean to, but you did," Violet frowned, "Michael, I thought you would mature a bit after Ralph's rebellion last night. But you're still so disappointing."
