Chapter 22 I won't go back
Arthur laughed. "Are you trying to bully Olivia? She may have a low degree and come from the countryside, but she's smart and hardworking, studying until midnight every day."
"So she has all these virtues in your eyes now," Cassie sneered.
Arthur thought she was jealous and seemed a bit helpless. "Cassie, now is not the time to be jealous."
"Arthur, you're about to get engaged to Olivia, and I still have to try for you? You need to be clear about what you really want. Do you want a woman you love or one who matches your status and can help you?"
"Listen to me. Go back and apologize to Robert, Helen, and Olivia. Try to get back to Height Architectural Decoration Company as soon as possible," Arthur said impatiently.
Cassie forcefully opened the car door and said, "Don't come looking for me anymore. You make me sick."
"What did you say?" Arthur's proud face turned icy. "Who are you to criticize me?"
"Yes, I am unworthy of you," Cassie sneered. She slammed the door shut, started the car, and sped away.
Just then, Olivia called, her tone tense and concerned. "Arthur, did you go to see Cassie? Don't make it hard for her."
Arthur thought of Cassie's harsh demeanor and said, "She treats you like that, and you still speak well of her."
"I can't help it. I actually understand," Olivia said sadly. "In her eyes, I did steal her things like a robber, but I can't control the company's decisions; it's all my dad's doing. As for you, I love you too much. Even knowing you have her in your heart, I still can't help but try. Arthur, do you think I'm too selfish?"
If it were before, Arthur would have blamed her, but thinking of how Cassie didn't make any effort for them, he suddenly felt that Olivia loved him more.
He thought to himself, 'It's not Olivia's fault. She loves me.'
He suddenly felt a bit guilty toward Olivia. "I've never blamed you; don't overthink it."
"Arthur, I will definitely help you take over the Lewis Group. I know you've been wanting to collaborate with the Jones family on a project recently, so I've been frequently in contact with Charlotte."
Arthur suddenly understood and felt inexplicably pained, knowing Charlotte wasn't an easy person to get along with. "Thank you."
"Arthur, I'm willing to do anything for you."
For the first time, Arthur felt confused. 'Is all my effort to win Cassie back really worth it?'
Cassie trembled, feeling cold inside and out.
She never imagined a day would come when she and Arthur would exchange such harsh words. Maybe she never truly understood him.
Her phone rang. It was Helen, calling for the first time since she left a few days ago.
Cassie knew this call would be to blame her, but she answered anyway. "Mom."
"Don't call me Mom! I don't have such a vicious daughter!" Helen's angry voice came through. "Come back right now and apologize to Olivia!"
Cassie felt deeply wronged. "Why don't you ask what she did to me first?"
"She has a kind heart, unlike you, who only knows how to argue with Charlotte. The Jones family is wealthy, and Olivia tries to get along with Charlotte. You didn't help and even went after Olivia. How can you be so rude?"
"I'm not going back," Cassie said through gritted teeth.
