Chapter 1580 You're So Scary
Michael, feeling lost, opened his phone. When he saw the video file inside, he was stunned, his hands trembling. He couldn't believe the woman in the video was Megan.
"How is this possible, Dad?" he asked, bewildered.
James, wanting to slap him again, said, "You idiot. Now I understand Laura's concerns. The Megan you protect like a treasure is a lunatic. Please take her to get treatment and stop harming those cats and dogs. If this gets out, the Jude family's reputation will be ruined. You may not care about it, but we can't. And forget about selling cosmetics from your company."
Michael's face turned pale as he watched the video of Megan's terrifying and grotesque behavior. She seemed like a total stranger to him!
Megan was his first love. He would always remember the first time he saw her smile, which was pure and beautiful.
How did she become like this now?
Michael thought about the woman in the video, the one torturing animals, and realized she was the woman he had married.
Michael felt scared, even a bit terrified. He truly regretted it. He shouldn't have married Megan.
"Michael, you should go back," Caroline said mercilessly, "Don't bring Megan here again, or we'll have to shut you both out."
"Mom, if this is true, I'll divorce Megan," Michael said, finally calming down a bit. "But can you destroy the video file or tell me where it came from? I won't leak it and damage the Jude family's reputation."
James quickly understood his meaning, he remained silent, his face cold.
Michael clenched his fists and spoke softly, "Actually, I've recently figured out that Laura never harmed Megan. I misunderstood Laura before. Thinking back, I realize I did many things wrong. After marrying Megan, I've been exhausted. I miss Maeve and regret hurting Laura. I want to make it up to them."
After confessing, Michael felt relieved.
He was tired of this life, especially after seeing Megan's terrifying behavior. He didn't want to face her anymore.
Michael had been thinking about Laura a lot lately, he wanted to go back to that time.
"Mom, Dad, you also want Maeve to grow up in a healthy family, right? If I remarry Laura, Maeve can be with you like before," Michael looked at his parents with hope. "Mom, Dad, I never wanted to divorce Laura. I had thought Laura had hurt Megan and that she was malicious. We wouldn't be here if not for that. I don't love Megan anymore. I married her out of guilt, but now I've realized it is a huge mistake."
"Please help me." Michael pleaded, speaking his heart.
The courtyard was so quiet that only the birds on the eaves could be heard.
James and Caroline looked at Michael with complex expressions.
Michael felt uneasy under their gaze. "Mom, Dad."
"Stop talking," Caroline said, holding her head. "You want us to destroy the video file so you can fight for Maeve's custody. Laura, who cares deeply for the child, might reconcile with you. Is that it?"
Michael admitted he was despicable, but he couldn't lie to himself. He missed the loving times with Laura.
"Oh my God," Caroline took a deep breath. "How did I raise such a shameless, selfish son? Do you think your parents, at our age, will abandon our dignity?"
Michael was shocked and said, "Mom, didn't you also like Laura?"
"We do like Laura, but think about what you've done," James, unable to bear it, scolded, "You betrayed your marriage, got Megan pregnant, divorced Laura in less than a week, and then married Megan with a high-profile wedding, spending millions on a ring. You never considered Laura's feelings. Now you want our support to divorce Megan and reconcile with Laura? What do you think marriage is?"
Caroline cried out of anger. "Michael, how could you become like this?"
James shouted, "Let me tell you, Derek sent me those videos. I can't just delete them. Don't come to me. Get out. I never want to see you again, you disgusting scumbag."
Out of anger, James grabbed a mop from the hallway and started hitting Michael.
Michael stood there numbly. He didn't feel pain. The only discomfort was seeing the disgust in James and Caroline's eyes. He couldn't stay any longer and turned to leave.
Was he disgusting?
Definitely, he thought he was quite disgusting.
But if being disgusting could take him back to the past, he was willing to be disgusting.
'This life is too exhausting. How does it come to this?' Michael's eyes reddened.
When the driver took Michael back to the villa, Megan was in the dining room enjoying the porriage made by the housekeeper.
Seeing Michael return, Megan's eyes lit up. She quickly wheeled over and grabbed his hand. "Michael, didn't you say you'd be back in two days? I just had some porriage. Have a bowl."
Michael looked at Megan's beautiful face with complex emotions, remembering her appearance in the video.
How could Megan be so changeable?
He suddenly pulled his hand back, feeling cold where she had touched him.
"What's wrong?" Megan stiffened slightly.
Michael glanced at the housekeepers. "You all can leave now."
Soon, only the two of them were left in the living room. Megan tried to reach out to him, but Michael avoided her.
"Megan, someone caught you on video abusing animals," Michael said with a complex expression. "Does the abusing make you that happy?"
Megan's body stiffened. She had done those things in secret. How did he know?
"Don't deny it. I saw the video. It was you," Michael said with a grim face. "You're terrifying."
"It's not like that, Michael. I don't want to be this way," Megan trilled.
