Chapter 1486 Awkward
Laura had just thought of this when Derek had been on his knees at the edge of her bed. He leaned over and gently placed Maeve on the left side.
This position had him practically hovering over Laura.
The fresh scent of mint from Derek's shower filled the air. When Laura looked up, Derek looked like a college kid, totally different from his usual daytime vibe. Right now, he was looking pretty handsome and cute.
Even though Derek was around Laura's age, he seemed so much more youthful and full of energy.
Laura's eyes traced from Derek's pink lips down to his chiseled jaw and delicate collarbone.
Since he was bent over, the neckline of his pajamas had slipped, giving her a peek at his chest.
For some reason, her heart started racing.
Laura didn't mean to peek, but as a divorced woman who appreciated a good-looking guy, she couldn't help but sneak another glance.
Just as she was about to take a third look, Derek had already settled Maeve, straightened up, and was looking at her.
Laura quickly said, "Thanks, I think Maeve might've peed. Can you change her diaper?"
Derek grabbed a diaper from the chair and carefully changed Maeve.
Laura was anxious. "Will it wake her up?"
"No, I got this," Derek said, calming her down.
Laura watched his movements. How could a guy's hands be more careful and meticulous than hers?
Maeve didn't even stir while Derek worked.
But Derek's position...
Laura's face felt a bit hot.
Derek was wearing silk pajamas, and when he bent over, his butt was quite... noticeable.
She knew she shouldn't be looking, but late at night, with a handsome young guy on her bed like that, who wouldn't appreciate it?
Laura didn't admire for long before Derek finished. He got off the bed and asked, "I'm heading back. Call me if you need anything."
Laura nodded.
After Derek left, she slowly moved her body down.
Laura suddenly realized she wasn't wearing a bra, and she hadn't used the blanket to cover her chest. Derek had been so close to her just now; he must have seen everything.
She suddenly felt so embarrassed.
The next day, when Laura wheeled herself downstairs, she found breakfast had been brought to her.
Derek was sitting at the dining table by the floor-to-ceiling window, bathed in sunlight, explaining, "My parents left on a private jet at six this morning. It's just the two of us at the Presidential Palace. Since it's inconvenient for you, I had breakfast brought over here."
"Actually, you could've eaten over there. It's a hassle for you to run back and forth." Seeing him reminded Laura of last night, making her feel awkward and her face blush.
"Having breakfast alone is pretty boring." Derek naturally took Maeve from the nanny. Maeve lay in his arms, and he skillfully fed her milk with one hand.
During this, he looked up. "Why is your face so red?"
"It's hot." Laura quickly lowered her head to eat breakfast. She couldn't possibly say it was from embarrassment.
A faint smile flashed in Derek's eyes.
After feeding Maeve, he ate breakfast with one hand.
Maeve, now full, had a round little face full of contentment.
Laura blinked. Her daughter was really lucky.
"Hand Maeve over to Thea and eat your breakfast first," Laura said, unable to stand it anymore.
"It's okay. Maeve is so cute. Why don't you let her recognize me as her godfather?" Derek said with a smile.
Laura choked. "Don't joke around."
"Do I look like I'm joking? Never mind, we'll talk about it when my parents get back." Derek changed the subject. "Do you want to have a barbecue tonight?"
Laura perked up. She'd been eating bland food lately. "But the doctor said I can't eat anything too spicy."
"As long as it's not too spicy, it's fine. We'll have a barbecue tonight. I'll grab the ingredients after work. What do you want to eat?"
"Lamb, beef, ham, potatoes. Am I asking for too much?"
After saying this, Laura felt a bit anxious.
"Not at all. Those are barbecue essentials," Derek smiled.
After breakfast, he headed to work.
Laura immediately started looking forward to the barbecue that night.
Even though her breakfast hadn't digested yet, she decided to eat less for lunch.
During the day, when she was bored, she checked her phone.
Today, the internet was still buzzing about Michael.
At eight this morning, the Jude Group's official account announced a change in the company's shareholders. James transferred fifty percent of his shares to Julia, and Aaron inherited thirty percent. James personally designated Julia as his successor. Although James remained the chairman, Julia and Aaron officially became new members of the board.
This news caused an uproar, even shaking the stock market.
[So, Madison's richest woman will now be Julia. She's so beautiful and charismatic. I support her.]
[We're all women, but the difference between us is so big. Julia is not only prettier than me but also richer.]
[I'm curious why Michael didn't inherit any shares of the Jude Group. I heard Michael is James's first son, and just a few days ago, everyone was saying he was the heir to the Jude Group.]
[What right does scum like Michael have to inherit the Jude Group? James made a wise decision. I'll continue to support the Jude Group.]
[The Jude Group did well. I'll become a fan of the Jude Group. Other companies should learn from them.]
[At this moment, Michael must be regretting it so much. He is abandoned by the Jude Family for his affair. Michael deserves it.]
[My impression of the Jude Family keeps improving. Michael's bad behavior should have consequences.]
Laura was happily eating snacks while browsing her phone.
Halfway through, she suddenly looked down at the imported chocolate in her hand and then looked up at Thea, shocked. "Where did this chocolate come from?"
"I just gave it to you," Thea said with a smile. "There's a lot at home."
"Where did it come from?"
"A friend of Mr. Jude has brought it back from studying abroad. Mr. Jude doesn't eat it, so he left it all for you. Is it good?"
Laura was silent.
