Chapter 580

"Impossible, not now," Cassie murmured, her eyes filled with worry. "Joseph has made it clear that if anything befalls our children, neither Laura nor my father will be spared. My main concern is Laura." She paused, her gaze distant. "Once Nathan is free, his retaliation against Laura will be relentless. If she can't reach me, she'll remain in New York. Can you relay a message, telling her to leave the country immediately?"

"Of course, but what about you?" came the response.

"Could you contact Liam for me?" Cassie asked abruptly.

Nathaniel blinked in surprise. "Do you think the young master will assist you?"

"I can't be certain," Cassie admitted, "but at this moment, only you and he possess the means to extricate me from this predicament."

Cassie never envisioned a day when she would be forced to seek Liam's aid. Despite the hurt he had inflicted upon her, she felt a strange certainty that he would help. She could sense his remorse each time he faced her.

"Alright," Nathaniel agreed.

As their car navigated a bustling intersection, the large screen of a nearby mall displayed Luna and Felix's extravagant wedding. Cassie's gaze was drawn to the screen, where Luna shone with the brilliance of a princess. Cassie had intended to reveal Luna's true identity on this day, but her plans were thwarted by her current house arrest.

Nathaniel sighed. "Luna's influence has soared. She's not only the vice president of Leo's Group but also Felix's wife. Chamberlain's family and Leo's family are collaborating on a significant project, and Felix's net worth is rapidly approaching Joseph's."

Cassie closed her eyes, suppressing the surge of hatred. Luna, who was clearly not Leo Chapman's daughter, had inherited everything that should have been Cassie's. And Cassie, she had been reduced to an outcast. Luna, Vera - they would have to wait. As long as Cassie drew breath, she vowed to expose their true colors to the world.

Upon reaching a private hospital, Cassie was escorted by several bodyguards to an upper floor for a prenatal check-up. Halfway there, she spotted Sarah, resplendent in a light yellow butterfly dress that showcased her legs. Sarah was carrying an embroidered woven bag and wore a ten-carat diamond necklace.

Cassie, a former fashion enthusiast, recognized the value of Sarah's outfit. The dress was likely an unreleased summer collection with a price tag in the eight figures. The old Sarah could never have afforded such luxury, but her relationship with Lucas had transformed her.

" Cassie, what a coincidence," Sarah greeted, flashing a diamond ring. "Just finished recording a show and thought I'd visit Lucas. Do you like it? It's a gift from him."

"It's lovely," Cassie replied nonchalantly, "but Lucas is a known playboy. I'm sure many women have received similar rings. I believe he's bedded at least half the women he's met."

Sarah's smile faltered, a hint of sarcasm creeping into her expression. "Who doesn't have a past? It's still better than being pitifully deceived by your husband. I used to envy you, but now Joseph has cast you aside for Megan."

She paused, glancing at Cassie. "You probably don't know, but whenever Lucas takes me to their gatherings, Joseph brings Megan. They're so intimate, it's sickening. After the gathering, they retire to Megan's place for the night."

"Sarah," Nathaniel warned, his tone sharp.

"Sarah, I'm merely speaking the truth, and you're present as well," Sarah said, her large eyes blinking and lips pursed in a pout. "I recall seeing a multitude of love bites adorning Megan's neck just the other day. Tsk tsk."

Cassie's demeanor remained stoic, her voice laced with icy sarcasm. "How wonderful. It's merely the trash I discarded, perfect for the likes of you."

"Enough with the pretense," Sarah interrupted, retrieving a mirror from her purse and applying a fresh coat of lipstick. "Just a few days ago, Megan extended an invitation to her seaside villa. It's the most expensive property on the New York coastline. The moment you open the bedroom door, you're greeted by the vast expanse of the deep blue sea."

A flicker of emotion finally crossed Cassie's face.

She remembered that seaside villa all too well.

It was the home she had once shared with Joseph. It was the place where she had stood by his side during his illness, the place she had considered her sanctuary. It was where they had exchanged vows and where their children had been conceived.

And now, Joseph had allowed Megan to take up residence there.

How could a man be so callous?

Joseph was truly ruthless.

Sarah watched Cassie's desolate expression with a satisfied smile, moving closer and lowering her voice. "Once upon a time, you and Laura were both esteemed young ladies. Who could have predicted? Laura's reputation lies in tatters after her rape, known to all. And you, you've been discarded. Tsk, life is truly unpredictable."

"What did you say?" Cassie's head shot up, her eyes wide as she stared at Sarah. "About Laura."

"Indeed. The media has been abuzz with the news. The pampered heiress of the Madison Miller family has been disgraced. Ha, the common consensus is that she intentionally seduced Nathan, so she got what she deserved. Who would dare to associate with her now? As for you two, I can't even bear to look at you anymore." With a triumphant glance at Cassie, Sarah turned on her heel and walked away.

Cassie was left standing, stunned.

She hadn't anticipated that Laura's situation would be made public.

The media was relentless. Even if nothing transpired, they had a knack for spinning tales.

The repercussions for a woman would be immense.
